  1. Sidetrack: just for S&G, and because it's almost Vet Day (I'm not technically a vet): We used to have consistent heat indexes of 140 in IZ (no kidding), and I usually carried about 60+ lbs of gear, ammo incl. AFG was better. The poor bastard grunts would carry even more than that, day after day after day. Just un-freaking-believable. Studs all. Now, imagine @hondo in seattle, buttoned up in an armored box, w that kind of heat, and crazy winds, and god knows what. Cav rules. Bitching about it completed, lol.
  2. Absolutely true story, re the magnetic attraction of this team: Grad school, 92-94, Monterey CA. GF was a thru-and-thru CA girl; no attachment to Buf except via myself, as I would always take her to the sports bar at 1000 to watch the Bills. Anyway, 3Jan93, comeback game. After first half, I lost my sh*t and went upstairs in my flat. She, in huffy reply, said "I'm staying here to watch, bc I love this team." Wow. Anyway, second half, I could hear her yelling downstairs. She walked up to our room and said, w barely disguised anger: "get your ass down here, bc something is happening." Never will forget it, obviously. Next year, I did bring her to a home game in Dec. No kidding, fans around us were asking her, in good fun, "wtf, are you from CA or something?" Anyway, she went on to work for a 3-letter, where we would cross paths here and there...then she became a FT yoga instructor. Lesson kids: marry the girl who loves the Bills, works for the IC, and then teaches yoga. My bad.
  3. I wish I could give this multiple "awesome" responses. Good on ya brother. Really well done. I been there, after too many adventures overseas. This is truly inspiring: one of the great TBD posts ever. Thanks so much.
  4. Bills now #1 in ESPN power rankings. So we got that going for us.
  5. $10 water. Stetson. Epic pic. Priceless.
  6. BtK: very interesting insight. Most appreciated. Meanwhile: please post more often! A professional handicapper is profoundly interesting to me, and perhaps others here. LAMP-ish: I've personally been in many "challenging" life-death situations, but certain I couldn't be a professional gambler. Somehow, when actual, serious $$ involved...I would weep like a toddler.
  7. Absolutely agree. But, I humbly assert, the greatest LB name in CFB history is ND's Michael STONEBREAKER.
  8. Sorry, another reply. I'm familiar w this statistical analysis bc, overseas, we had many--smart people all--working to analyze the highest kinetic threats we should go after. Generally speaking, they used Complex Adaptive Systems as a base model, w statistical overlays, including page rank, though admittedly it was not fully comprehensible to me, and my particular group, bc we were just were dumb-ass mouth-breathers. I fully realize that the NFL, with recognizable rules, is not the same as modeling bad guys w (often) stochastic behaviors. But the results, w geniuses and every NTM available, and $billions, were... not quite as we had hoped. So, I guess, given the much stricter set of variables in the present NFL case, what are the identifiable weaknesses in these calculations? I only ask to understand how to assess this modelling w greater precision.
  9. Many thanks for this. I'm a little bit familiar w the model; very interesting. But why is KC listed as 6-2?
  10. Glancing anxiously at the (currently) locked GDT thread. That's pretty butt puckered.
  11. Wood. Sorry, typo. Word.
  12. Otherwise engaged: "watching" early game via this thread and ESPN play-by-play. So, apologies in advance: but how is -10y passing even fooking possible?
  13. Gunner, c'mon man, please save the "totally irrational" for GDT. Thank you for your attention to this matter
  14. This is apropos Essex as, in real life, Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald) is a no-kidding-tailgating Bills fan.
  15. About a week+ ago, I ventured into PPP for some reason. I lasted 5 minutes before, effectively, pledged bodily harm upon another poster. Does that mean I'm a 5-tech?
  16. At my business, working. Following via GDT and play-by-play. From this distance, seems Bills decided they could just bully the jests over tome. Wrong?
  17. Controversial take: Train horn>>Thiiiiird Doownn!! I mean, I'm not a big of either, but, flame away.
  18. Uncontested thread winner: [x] Confirmed [ ] Not confirmed
  19. (1) Important point boyst: absolutely cameras everywhere w facial recognition, in stadium. Mature tech and process. You walk in, pic taken (2) Sworn LEOs absolutely in stadium TOC (3)Further, the database(s) are in that TOC, this from a direct source I've known for many years (not at Highmark). But, for variety of legal/civil liberty reasons, would not be accessed unless someone truly f's up, which leads to detainment or arrest, again by LEO. As an aside: man, you gotta keep your hands off the players, regardless of circumstance.
  20. I hate to even dignify this w a response. Somehow, you've literally trumped your prior comment. The above is something so unabashedly grotesque, that (as a strong free speech advocate), I would advise that you be banned from this board. And I'm not some RW mouth-breather, btw. But, Jesus H, I freaking hate/hate keyboard warriors. I actually was in the fight, for many years, and I can take a lot. But this is utterly beyond the pale. I'm done. I trust we never meet, bc, I assure you, it would not be pleasant.
  21. I'm always very measured, calm, in all my comments, across the entire TSW board. But this is truly sick, you a-hole m-fer. If you want to find that "good guy"....well, I won't say anymore.
  22. As you point out, DH variable may loom large, so I'm interested in this. There are no perfect 1-1 comparisons, but just quick math. Emmit Smith had roughly 5250 touches, college/pro, thru 11 nfl seasons. Thereafter, a dip in his production, though not profound, can be discerned. DH has roughly 3100 college/pro touches thru 9 NFL seasons. Different players, definitely different body types/usage. I get it. But, my thumbnail, 5 min conclusion is that Henry has a season plus before we see a consistent drop in effectiveness. Barring injury of course. Totally open mind, so willing to be otherwise persuaded.
  23. Spikes, I love your food thread(s), so don't take this the wrong way: I've eaten multiple chickens in both named countries, plus many others across MENA-AFR region. Always found them to have significantly better flavor than, say, a random chicken bought at Tops or Wegmans. Of course, there's always the danger of food safety when eating locally, or "on the economy" as some folks are familiar with this phrase. Won't elaborate painful memories here...I'm sure we all have relatable stories. Anyway, good luck: very interested in your results!!
  24. O/T: James Starks bought his family a very nice house in NF, few doors down from me. Don't know him. But, when he visits, he often walks with xyz down the street. All I can think is "that dude is one big m-fer!"
