We have seen this happen before, it’s going to be a “point of emphasis” and will be called all the time, largely wrongly. @MJS do you remember the stupid “can’t put body weight” on the QB rule? The one that was a reactionary rule change because Rodgers broke his collarbone getting piled driver? They called it a bunch for two years, then the NFL community and refs realized how absolutely stupid it was and it’s basically never called now. This penalty will go the same way (if they even assess it as a penalty.) it will be a hot topic for 2 years, ruin a couple games, everyone will realize it’s dumb, and it will go away.

Ahh Terry is retaining the head coach who has the team in the divisional round of the playoffs every year as a minimum instead of turning the Bills into the dysfunctional garbage Sabres org with the constant hiring and firing. The humanity!

I think it’s funny that the team that got embarrassed by the Bengals had better odds than the team that lost by a FG to the eventual SB champs. Just goes to show you.

It wasn’t dirty. Allen is a giant running full speed. If your QB is acting like a runner, he should be treated like a runner. Joey Bosa shouldn’t be forced to grab onto his hips and let him carry him forward 4 more yards for the first down.

Let him fall forward for the first down instead of preventing further yardage, obviously.

Very dumb. Tackling a guy from behind is simply “grab player, drag him down with your body weight.” So if the player is a 5’11 running back, and he’s grabbed by a humongous DT, he’s gonna get pulled backwards and roll. The only way to avoid that would be to let him fall forward and gain more yardage. Really stupid.

It is hard to know if Josh is working “as hard” without much evidence besides a few snippets, my personal feelings aside. The real question is, does anyone think Josh has improved as a passer since 2020?

The fun thing about football is you can have a worse team and still win the Superbowl. The greatest Pats team of the dynasty lost in the Superbowl. One of their worst teams of the dynasty won it in 2019. No one would ever argue that the 2019 team was better than the 2007 team. There's no reason to try to blind ourselves.

Then we should compare ourselves to the playoff teams that keep showing us the door. Have we closed the gap between us and KC by cutting Mitch Morse and moving McGovern to center and making Rapp a starting safety? No. Obviously not.

Improving boundary WR was a no-brainer 2 years ago. Now it's a 5 alarm fire.

I am not really sure why folks care so much about trying to pretend the Bills are a better football. We still have Josh. It doesn't really matter. How Bills fans, that suffered through the drought and Brady kicking our teeth in every year, have somehow forgotten that a great QB matters infinitely more than the talent level of the other 52 spots is one of life's biggest mysteries.

It is true. We are talking about gameday management. McD doesn't have a "Ed Oliver, beat your man" playcall. He puts Ed on the field. If Ed wins or loses his matchup, it's 100% on Ed.

I find it very funny when folks say things like this, when there's a mountain of evidence that suggest otherwise. Samuel IMO is an upgrade over trash like Harty and Trent. Harty was an overpaid gadget KR guy, and Trent was trash making 800k a year as a vet minumum. In the last 4 seasons, including the year he barely played, he outproduced both of their entire careers COMBINED. He can and likely will far outproduce their meager contributions. Asking him to replace both of them and Gabe IMO is a mistake. They need a rookie WR on the boundary. Diggs + rookie + Shakir + Samuel has a chance to be a much better unit than Diggs + Gabe _ Harty + Sherfield.

Agreed. Which is why I think there's a decent chance MHJ outproduces them.

The other receivers we have picked up have been bottom of the barrel trash. That’s the real problem.

I have the same fear, but I keep telling myself that Beane not touching a restructure on Stef means that he knows his days are numbered. I’m still preparing myself for the onslaught of “we didn’t need a highly drafted WR, we signed Curtis Samuel” posts after the the draft.

If Diggs in 2024 is the guy in the last 8 weeks and not the first ten, he is easily replaceable by a rookie. That was my point.
