Is this the best team in the Allen era?
FireChans replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is so bad but I’m gonna say something. This is not the most talented team in the Allen era. This is a team with the best vibes in the Allen era. Bills Lions SB feels like destiny. -
OT: what did you think of the hit on Lawrence?

Your father sounds like a smart guy! It’s all just discussion for fun, even if we disagree. -

OT: what did you think of the hit on Lawrence?
FireChans replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
Don’t turn this into a gang up thing. You are starting to even sound like Al-Shaiir. “Everybody is ganging up on me!!!!!” You had a bad take. Everyone disagrees. The play was dirty. Al-Shaiir is likely going to get suspended. Because it was obviously dirty. Unlike every other unnecessary roughness penalty on defenseless sliding QB’s in the NFL in the last 2 seasons at least. Because it was obviously dirty. He was immediately ejected when most players who get flagged for unnecessary roughness don’t. Because it was obviously dirty. Case closed. -

Because you missed the point again in defense of the “fraternity.” -
If EJ played college football until he got social security like Nix did, who knows?

OT: what did you think of the hit on Lawrence?
FireChans replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
So what is the difference between this and every unnecessary roughness penalty in the last 3 years? I’ll tell you. Because this one was clearly, and obviously, dirty with the intent to injure. Which is why is virtually zero folks are saying “what is the defender supposed to do.” Or “the QB sold that call.” Or any of the million other things that we see on routine calls EVERY WEEK. We are debating suspension, today, because it was clearly and obviously dirty. Point blank. Period. -

I have a serious question. When was the last big hit on a sliding QB that warranted a discussion about suspension? Can you remember one this year? Last year? I can’t. Why are we acting like dirty hits of this degree happen all the time? -
I wonder how many young kids would've succeeded with more development like Nix had. Would guys like Darnold and Rosen have benefitted significantly from more years in college? Trubisky? Very interesting food for thought. I think if I'm a GM, I consider only drafting dudes who play 4 years in college going forward.

Man come on lol. First of all, giving Jim McMahon example 100 times doesn't count as multiple examples. Second of all, there are PAGES of former NFL players who are criticizing this hit. There's ZERO defending it. But they are all just keeping it to themselves? Consider this, why is suspension on the board for this hit, and not for other late hits on QB's sliding that happens virtually every week. Spoilers: It's because this one was dirty as hell. Your defense of "these guys have families and don't want to hurt a fly" would apply to monsters like Rae Carruth. Its insane. -

There are also virtually zero former players/NFL media member defending this particular play. Not a hypothetical bang bang play where a player has no good answers. This play. @Buffalo716 says that's not true. I'd like to see where he sees any defense of this play, not by football people who work for the same organization. -

Someone tell Trevor to shake it off and get out of the hospital. Doesn't he know that Jim McMahon got body slammed 1000 years ago? Teddy Roosevelt finished a speech with a gunshot wound. Why is Trevor still complaining about his hurt noggin? -
Saw Nix in Auburn and thought he was literally undraftable. The COVID era is gonna change a lot of notions of developing QBs in college imo. Also shout out to @NeverOutNick I think for being a Bo Nix truther.

ITT: It’s impossible to judge intent on the football field. He also definitely didn’t intend to injure him. Ironclad case. Open and shut. Can we really judge if that punch was INTENDED to injure? Who can really say? -
OT: what did you think of the hit on Lawrence?
FireChans replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
We’ll never know. Maybe he saw red and lost his mind. What do know is that 99% of defenders let up when a QB slides and don’t forearm shiver their heads into the turf. Conflating this with the bang bang “defender doesn’t have enough time to completely avoid contact” plays is just excusing bad behavior. And you’re wrong. Which is why virtually all NFL players, media, coaches all disagree with you. Despite what the “game was like” with black and white television. -
OT: what did you think of the hit on Lawrence?
FireChans replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
He doesn’t have to have come into the game deciding to kill Lawrence for it to be dirty af. Did the defender come into the game deciding to piledrive McMahon? Maybe, maybe not. Is the burden of proof you have to have planned your dirty hit 3 weeks in advance for it to count? -
OT: what did you think of the hit on Lawrence?

It’s crazy how almost EVERY TIME a QB slides down, almost EVERY OTHER PLAYER is able to resist giving them a forearm shiver to the head. What the ***** are you talking about -
