  1. We are trying to get 3 guys up to speed in Hamler, Claypool and MVS. Right now. Sure, it would be stretch to get 3 rookies ready for week 1. But what about by week 8? Week 12?
  2. Never. He’s Tua/Mac Jones West.
  3. It’s because in football, alligator arms is already used for the TJ Grahams of the world who have to snap their arms like the jaws of an alligator to catch.
  4. The difference between Aiyuk and Sander is far greater than the difference between Purdy and Garropolo, imo. I don’t think Jimmy G - Purdy is the driving force between the difference in yards and TD’s.
  5. 2019 WR group was so good, Beane tried to trade for Sanders and Diggs twice.
  6. For all the talk about scheme mattering over talent, let’s look at the Shanny scheme in particular. 2019 Niners passing offense 29th in att 13th in yards 10th in passing TD’s 2019 Niners receiving weapons: Deebo Kittle Emmanuel Sanders Kendrick Bourne Juszczyk 2023 Niners passing offense: 32nd in att 4th in yards 2nd in passing TD’s 2023 receiving weapons: Aiyuk Kittle Deebo Jennings CMC did Shanny become a much better coordinator over the last 4 seasons or MAYBE was having more elite talent actually the difference?
  7. The Venn Diagram of people who say, “there’s no chance we trade for a #1 WR” and the people who said, “there’s no chance Diggs gets traded,” is a circle.
  8. Bills will win the division again. With McD and a healthy Josh, it’s almost a certainty. Best QB by far in the division = winning the division most of the time.
  9. In the infamous words of the Douggernaut. ”I don’t think humans are supposed to play football.”
  10. I just got a flashback of Edmunds closing his eyes and bending Dane Jackson in two a few years back.
  11. I think you could argue we took a leap of faith at MLB last year? I guess we had Dodson and Klein in the wings as well. That stat is frightening though.
  12. 10-12 sacks is SO HIGH man. I would take 5 and say that was a wonderful rookie year lol.
  13. CPOY may be achievable if he hit double digit sacks.
  14. Carousel mercenaries like Lawson or Yannick might serve. Honestly, the Bills hitting on a budding superstar EDGE brings this team right out of “retooling year” and right back to contender status. It’s the kind of thing we need. My concern for Solomon will be that he physically can’t hang on the edge except in obvious passing situations.
  15. Goes to show the Shanny tree + elite skill positions is easy mode for some of these QB’s. Tua had one of the best seasons in football last year. Sure he slumped at the end and got embarrassed in the playoffs. But clearly the powers that be in Dolphins land were not impressed, namely because they know lots of guys would look really good. Also, poor Fins. They do their whole tanking thing with Flores, gut the roster for picks and take the wrong QB in the 2020 class. Be thankful for every day we have a Josh Allen. QBs normally don’t skip voluntary OTAs.
  16. The two seasons with our worst WR groups saw the most man coverage. In fact, it’s an indictment on our weapons for the past FIVE years that we were a top 5 team in facing man. There goes the “Diggs/Davis were good enough” argument. They were “good enough” until Sneed put Diggs over his knee and spanked him in the playoffs.
  17. I think this proves if you are going to have crummy WR’s you better have a top 2 TE in NFL history and a top 2 QB in NFL history and a top 2 coach in NFL history. probably not a strategy I’d try to replicate.
  18. I think that's a guarantee. I mean, we've been discussing about doing more at the boundary for how many seasons now?
  19. And the beauty of having a stable, you aren’t relying on a rookie second round pick to be “the guy” right away because you already have your Mike Wallace starting.
  20. What? You're telling me when Beane extended Diggs to make him the 6th highest paid WR in the NFL 25 months ago, it wasn't him trying to throw other teams off the scent that we would be going into the 2024 season with Coleman, Curtis Samuel, MVS, Shakir and Mack Hollins?
  21. I would have no problem with Beane living off the rotation of day 2/3 WR's every year. I think it's a GREAT strategy. The Steelers since 2009: 3rd Mike Wallace 3rd Sanders 6th AB 3rd Wheaton 4th Marty Bryant 3rd Sammie Coates 2nd JuJu 2nd James Washington 3rd Diontae Johnson 2nd Chase Claypool 2nd George Pickens With WR contracts exploding even more today compared to those days, it makes sense to live off rookie deals that are gonna outplay their talent with an elite QB and get overpaid (read: Gabe Davis). This is how the Steelers prolonged Big Ben's career. They kept surrounding him with a stable. Of course, they also got lucky and hit on a HoF talent. But you can't hit on a HoFer without drafting them. IMO, I don't think Beane plans to follow this strategy. If he was, the time to get a jump start was this draft. But if he does go for the revolving door of WR, I'm 100% on board over trading for an Aiyuk and paying him $30M. Of course, this flies in the face of the OP stating that WR's are the new RB's. It's actually completely the opposite, but there's a good strategy to help us in a zero sum league.
  22. You're missing the 2017/2018 crew too. Zay Day, Deonte Thompson, Golden Corral Benjamin, Andre Holmes (I think he preceded BB), Jordan Matthews, Robert Foster. We tried to dumpster dive committee WR before. All it got us was a bottom 10 offense in back to back seasons. 2020 Beane was the outlier.
  23. So much so that they gave Diggs a massive extension two years ago and drafted a WR with their first pick this offseason? A team you could argue has adopted the "stable of good WR's" strategy is the current Packers regime or the Big Ben Steelers who drafted a day 2 pick WR every other year. Not the Bills.
  24. Doc isn’t even responding to me lmao. Have the courage to tag me baby.
