  1. So here’s the thing. i think as a general rule, paying guys 1 year before they hit market is usually smart, if they are almost assuredly players you are going to keep. We can point to teams like the Cowboys and Bengals who have cost themselves 10s of millions waiting. Especially when they would have probably paid those guys the same contracts even if they tore ACLs. Now those teams can point the Bills as a team that got burned doing things the opposite way. But still, I do think it is a overall more winning strategy. The biggest problem was the Beane broke his own rule, and gave Diggs money 2 years before he was up. And as anyone with any second of leadership experience will tell you, the second you start making exceptions is the second things blow up in your face.
  2. Sorry but the Diggs extension is perhaps the single biggest mistake in Beane’s tenure. It effectively cost us 1 offseason of pursuing talent to surround Josh with, which is as bad as it gets
  3. Um, wouldn’t a better comparison be a middling to lower end LT vs a top end OG? Sure a top end slot is worth more than the worst starting boundary WR. A top end DE is more valuable than the worst QB. Weird comparison.
  4. The Jets taking another top 10 CB to shore up the position right before their previous top 10 CB potentially walks is sure to bring a smile to @Bill from NYC
  5. The Eagles somehow managed starting a couple rookies. I guess just one rookie second round pick starting was the kiss of death.
  6. Yup. I know folks think there’s a WR bubble, but it’s more evidence they have become as valuable as EDGE’s across the league. The great ones without massive injury/age considerations rarely are hitting the market.
  7. IMO the only way you draft a pre round 6 TE in this draft is if you think Kincaid won’t be on the roster in September. Wouldn’t hate dangling him for a trade before his value is in the toilet for a change.
  8. Bring some UDFA bums to camp who have a shot to be better than a 26 year old league minimum guy Bring some UDFA bums to camp who have a shot to be better than a 26 year old league minimum guy
  9. So like almost half the production in 2 less games? Wow, almost like he’s not as good. I think it’s also fair to wonder whether Diggs started dogging it when the Bills season was in danger of being over
  10. Yeah that’s my point lol. Thanks for backing me up
  11. There’s no data in the world that will convince mean that Diggs hasn’t significantly declined as a player. None. Zero
  12. Sure but then Collins missed the next 4 so he was back to WR1
  13. WR2? Im pretty sure Diggs led the Texans in targets when he got hurt.
  14. His pace in Houston was 100 catches for 1054 yards. That’s fine but not elite. He’s not the same player. Those are Jakobi Meyers numbers.
  15. Selective amnesia or trading up for Josh Allen 7 years ago doesn’t continue to hold weight when it comes to aggressively pursuing talent. ”How can you say Bill Belichick is a bad drafter, he got Brady in the 6th round 20 years ago” energy.
  16. Support your takes. Who is the player they could “do better” with? And why does this trade mean they still can’t “do better?” Just say Deebo sucks next time if that’s all you think. Of course not but it’s par for the course. If Deebo hit the market, someone would probably pay him $8-10M guaranteed. I just think draft picks are supremely overrated. There are much better odds that Deebo is good next year than whatever 5th round pick is drafted.
  17. Happens all the time. Just waiting for the “can you believe the Commanders got him for a fifth” when he has 900 yards and 6 TD’s next year.
  18. Ok what FA target do you think the Commanders can’t go after due to this trade?
  19. It’s a fifth round pick lol. Baylon Spector tier.
  20. Lmao Brandon “a year too late” Beane will strike again. will this dude ever get a guy to who would be a great addition on schedule instead of after the fact?
  21. Diggs was already struggling long before Brady took over. I posted it above. He’s declined. He wasn’t JUST traded because he was a headache. He was a headache AND not the player he used to be.
  22. I really thought he hit a wall. i think there’s valid criticism regarding usage of Cooper, even with his weird injury. I totally get it. I think Diggs ran into a wall and/or quit. He was great the first 6 games. His next four games before Dorsey got fired, he had 36 targets for 24 catches and 248 yards. A 153 target, 102 catch, 1054 yard pace. Thats not elite.
  23. Yeah I don’t have as high of opinion of Oliver as you do, but I do think he’s good and he’s probably the only Bill not on a rookie deal that still has solid value around the league in trade talks. It’s hard to say how married Beane and co. are to him as the lynchpin of the DL, especially as a pass rusher. I think we are worse off without him as @HappyDays said. But in a DL heavy draft, it resets the clock a bit on money spent on the line which is helpful for the next few years. The problem is value to a receiving team. Seattle may not want to bother with such a DL heavy group, but they already traded for and paid for the Giants DL guy (blanking on the name).
  24. Not sure if you watched him in Houston. It’s far more likely he’s doing what lots of 30+ WR’s do. No longer having the physical ability to win consistently on the boundary. Brady wasn’t the reason Diggs got erased by Sneed in single coverage. He’s no longer the player he was. He wasn’t in Houston and he wasn’t by the end in Buffalo.
  25. So building off this, are we sure Ed Oliver isn’t a trade piece today? We save money trading him, even before 6/1. His value is kinda low coming off a down year and he’s sneaky limited as an undersized pass rushing specialist 3t. But I do think he has some value around the league, especially contractually. I’m not familiar enough with Seattle’s current defense to say whether they’d have interest, but Eddy and 1 of our seconds for DK would be hard for me to pass on. What’s hilarious is I think DK is a relatively limited #1 WR but I could also see him with 1500 yards and 12 TD’s in this offense. a true enigma.
