    My contention has always been that Josh has shown enough good thing to like his chances as our QB without diving deep into weird stats that are ultimately meaningless, and he’s shown enough questionable things that you can nit pick some stuff without criticizing him for how he can’t throw the left deep out in away NFC North games when it’s sunny in Buffalo.

    Somehow, this didn’t cross the mind of Melvin Gordon who managed even worse. On topic, how is this really possible? Isn’t the tag language pretty concrete in its positional pay model? Can we tag a player and try to negotiate down their position?

    The fact that TT’s stats were better with his top two WR’s was never the issue, it was the fact that was used to prop him up as someone better than he was. At least Woods kept his mouth shut. Diggs will let us know by week 3 if he’s unhappy. Although, IIRC Woods was the first player who gave up on EJ. I think he started digging it vs Houston, right?

    The capacity for contortion acts on this board is incredible. Imagine if TBD’s used that brain power for good? We could probably solve world hunger, rather than argue that Josh is good passing on third and long because we convert 80% of the time when we’re on the left hash and John Brown is lined up on the right.

    Add those picks together and what number do you get? If we only gave up 1 1st round pick for Sammy, did we give up zero for Shaq Lawson? How many did we trade for Diggs? Bad at math indeed.

    He was compared to 2019. Either way, I don’t think that supports the opposing argument. If LJ went from decent to MVP, he’s got an even BETTER chance of being a good QB.

    If Allen went from a kid who could barely score a TD at Wyoming to someone who can easily throw for 4K yards and 30 TD’s, maybe let’s give Dabs some credit. My favorite part of that post was when he said Josh’s progress from year 1 to 2 was ignored, and then ignored Lamar going from bad to MVP in year 1 to 2.

    2014 team was actually pretty exciting. Won some low scoring close ones without that air of despondence. Our defense played an exciting brand of football. My favorite game of that year was the Aaron Rodgers beat down. We had arrived after that one.

    I think that’s actually pretty fair analysis. I can’t think of a successful QB who was drafted in the top 10 or top 5 who didn’t dominate at a small school.

    I remember when you made that post about storylines and the MVP. In my opinion, the storylines matter WAYYY more for COY. McD has a really good shot if he dethrones the Pats in style and the Bills rattle off 11-12 wins and the AFCE title.

    Bills fans struggle with the concept that subjective player evaluations are not uniform. Which is hilarious, considering half of this fan base debated Flutie vs Johnson for 20 years.
