Superbowl Game Thread - Chiefs vs Eagles
FireChans replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think their mystique is broken a bit for sure. Remember that stupid story of Kelce telling the punt returner to be great lol. God I’m so glad they got their ass kicked. -
Xavier Worthy: So far, not much more than a gadget guy
FireChans replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Here’s some fun. Worthy in the playoffs - 19 catches, 287 yards, 3 TD’s. Coleman in the playoffs - 3 catches, 22 yards, 0 TD’s. Man, it’s neck and neck. I think we need a few more years to figure out who is more valuable right now. -
Is Nick Siriani, the second best coach in the NFL currently.
FireChans replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
So, like I said initially, what are the odds Sirianni is the HC of the Eagles 3 years from now? His winning percentage and resume would assume he’s the second safest HC in the NFL second to Andy Reid, right? Do you think he’s the second safest HC in the NFL to have a job 3 years from now? If you don’t, he isn’t. Period. -

I’m sure that he has had the most talented team in the NFL over the average of the last 3 seasons. I’m sure that the midseason collapse of the 2023 Eagles is largely a referendum on coaching malfeasance. As evidenced by Sirianni being the only coach in football to not pick his OC and DC. I’m sure that calling a naked Jalen Hurts bootleg while he was injured with 2 min left against the Rams in the postseason up 6 would have cost him his job had they lost that game and Stafford not luckily thrown a ball out of bounds on 4th down. I’m sure that Sirianni was 100% on the hotseat entering 2024, despite making the playoffs 3 straight years, the NFCCG once and the Super Bowl once. You are welcome to take your pick of all of those reasons. You are also welcome to predict he will be their head coach 3 seasons from now. I mean, he has all this track record of success right? He should be safe for a couple years right? There’s no way the wheel fall off and there’s a new HC in Philly in 2027, right? -

Sirianni is not a good head coach. He has won a SB. Very good for him. what are the odds he is the Eagles coach 3 years from now? -
Bills fans tend to find themselves rooting for the Eagles a lot

Anyone on the Bills you think could be traded?
FireChans replied to KentuckyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah that’s the problem all 3 teams have TEs. maybe there’s someone out there who would want him. Chiefs if Kelce retires? (I kid). anyway, BB said, "He's going to have to continue to work on his play strength. He's not as built and muscular as, let's just say, Dawson is, and so that's one of the nuances of this game," said Beane. "In college you don't play 17 games plus playoffs, so building your body up to withstand what it takes.” -
The Eagles beat the Chiefs by doing the opposite of the Bills
FireChans replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah but that works when the DL is getting to the QB. Its the synergy of the matter. Pressing with Elam while Greg Rousseau gets pancaked by Kareem Hunt is a great way to give up a 60 yard TD. -

I don’t think you need to trade Kincaid for picks necessarily. I think you would package him where he would have more value to the team receiving him in a player trade. Of course, the 3 teams I would like to trade him to, the Seahawks, the Raiders and the Browns all have big money TE’s but still lol. Is Kincaid and a second better than 2 seconds for DK? Beane’s language against Kincaid I thought was pretty strong tbh. -

Meh, I think Josh on the Chiefs keeps it a game at least. Josh is probably the greatest QB at playing/compensating with a complete disaster at OL. I won’t be charitable to Pat when I hold Josh to the same standard. Yes, Thuney got pushed back into Mahomes for the second pick that basically ended the game and put them down 24-0. It was still horrific. The difference between Mahomes and Josh, imo, is that Josh would have willed some more first downs, even with that kind of heat. And stringing together any kind of offense by any means necessary was crucial to stop the bleeding. Mahomes wasn’t just a victim of circumstance. He telegraphed a bad pick six when it was only 10-0 and the Chiefs had shut down Barkley and already had a pick on Hurts. sure they may have still lost, but Mahomes opened the flood gates by himself. Josh Allen wouldn’t have ever been down 40-6. I promise. Maybe we lose 27-10 or 33-10 but Josh wouldn’t have lost like that. -

Definitely a hot take. Mahomes wasn’t middling in the first half. He was a disaster. The Eagles had more points than the Chiefs had yards. He had 2 picks which put 14 points on the board for the Eagles. If he played that way vs the Niners, they would have also blown them out. Hurts didn’t play “almost perfect.” Not even close. He made enough plays to make the Chiefs pay for their mistakes and capitalize on them. And the Eagles D erased Hurts’ horrific pick. If you dropped Josh Allen on that Eagles roster last night, they would have scored 100. That’s not “nearly perfect QB play.” Mahomes “turned it on” when the game was over lol. They were down 40-6. Put that take in the freezer. -
I guess I’m being biased, but I think the Eagles have players with that extra gear in the tank that the Bills don’t have. I can’t see Ed and Greg both coming out and being dominant from start to finish against KC. Ever. I just can’t. A guy like Jalen Carter had a ceiling that Ed and Greg don’t have.
-
Shaky calls matter in nail biters. Not in blowouts. if you don’t want the refs to affect the game, make it impossible for them to do so. ass kicking takes the refs out of the game. It takes Jalen Hurts’ bad pick out of the game.

Rodgers has the same problem as Russell though. They both refuse to play outside their comfort zone and conform to the team. Russ developed bad habits after he won a ring. Rodgers developed bad habits far earlier and was notorious for clashing with LaFleur. On paper it sounds nice, but Rodgers will be blaming Pickens for not hearing his tenth check at the line with 1 second left on the play clock by week 3. I would roll the dice with a Darnold over Rodgers and blow it all up if it doesn’t work.

I agree and don’t agree. i agree this eagles front is not the 2015 Broncos. This wasn’t the culmination of a dominant season. But what I would say is this wasn’t the culmination of Howie’s strategy. He has poured picks and money into the DL for this kind of stage. That’s why he got guys like Carter and Davis high. If you played this game a hundred times, maybe the Eagles win with DL dominance like 10-20 times. But the Bills would win far less like that, imo.

Not sure Dawkins or Brown are starting on Philly tbh. It’s just Josh. Josh and Philly’s talent would probably win the SB every year. But part of the reason they are so talented is because they gave Hurts the “we believe in you but not really” contract. Sure that’s nice but is that scheme or talent? Imo clearly talent. They didn’t blitz because they didn’t need to lol. If Mahomes was picking them apart while their OL held up, they would have blitzed. -

For sure. For all of his greatness, this is the second Super Bowl where Mahomes has shown he can be pretty flappable. he wasn’t the only problem but he was an absolute problem. Throwing at Kelce’s knees etc etc. they truly did collapse after that. -

Is the tape out? I felt like the Eagles mixed up zone and man looks pretty significantly. Notably, both of Mahomes’ picks were on zone reads. I think their gameplan on D was different but I wouldn’t go as far as to say opposite -
I think he posted the Bills had double the pressures the Eagles did on the season, FWIW
-
This, too. in our biggest game, Greg Rousseau was getting pancaked by Kareem Hunt while last night, Josh Sweat was abusing the right side of the line.
-
You are right that dominant DL have won. They are capable of dominating elite offenses. It's not the only way to win. I mean, it's not like Mahomes has won behind dominant DL multiple times. He honestly hasn't. Chris Jones is great, but Mahomes has 3 rings without having a defense play like the Eagles played last night. Would the Bills win a SB easily with Josh and the 2024 Eagles defense or the 2015 Broncos defense? Of course. So would most all-time great QB's. Is the reason they HAVEN'T? I don't think so. Most teams that win SB's do it without dominant defensive lines. Which is why these teams come around every 5 years at most.

I think Kincaid is the easy one. Has some value left, disappointing overall etc etc. -
The Worthy Trade Keeps Looking Worse and Worse
FireChans replied to Bills Costa Rica's topic in The Stadium Wall
For starters, you wrote “With Brady” lol. Also, the Eagles’ backs rushed for 2.1 YPC tonight. All we need to do is find the next Zach Baun, Jalen Carter, Josh Sweat, Quinyon Mitchell, Gardner Johnson, Reed Blankenship, Cooper DeJean and Jordan Davis. -
Trying to not be defeastist, but us trading for a Garrett or a Crosby only for the Chiefs to land a top 5 OT in the third round to stymie them feels like fate.
-
What really sucks is that we need to beat KC and the year to punish them for mismanaging their OT’s was THIS year. I expect them to take 1 or even 2 OT’s in the first 3 rounds. Probably sign someone too. Sigh
