if they can still sign marquee free agents and spend their cap, what is the problem, exactly?
-
How did the Saints sign Derek Carr in the offeseason to a franchise QB contract when they were supposed to be $100M over the cap.
-
And when he approaches that giant cap hit, you extend him and push it back. This a new problem for folks who haven’t had a franchise QB for a very long time, but it’s very easy to solve.

Sources say ZERO PERCENT chance McD is fired
FireChans replied to Brand J's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it’s very funny. we always talk about how hard it is to keep a good defense together year after year, then, when the defense gets old and hurt and takes a step back, the argument is that the coach needs to be fired for the defense underperforming. This was always going to happen. Poyer, Hyde, White and Milano have all been here for SEVEN years. White and Milano were rookies but injuries can pile up. Poyer and Hyde were on their second contracts. Players get old fast, particularly DB’s. The Von Miller move (which I still don’t hate even if it didn’t work out) was a risk because of Von’s age but also the overall age and health of our defensive core. It was a last gasp at competing with this group, and this group is cooked. -
Mac Jones misery (a salacious read)
FireChans replied to co_springs_billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, it drives me crazy that NFL media types don't make any distinction on alternate v not. Folks will say "Mac Jones made a ProBowl in 2021, what happened?" and "Josh Allen didn't make a ProBowl in 2021, it wasn't that good of a year" not realizing Josh saying no thanks was the reason Mac went at all. Super annoying. -
I hope that Beane stops listening to McDermott when drafting

History is misremembered here. Daryl Williams was picked out of a dumpster and was excellent at RT in 2020. The Bills gave him a nice little 3 year extension. They even spent a third round pick on an RT to be groomed under him. Then Daryl went back to sucking, Spencer Brown was forced into duty and there we were. Quinton Spain was another dumpster dive candidate who was signed in 19, played pretty good, and unfortunately ended up cut the next year in camp in favor of the walking bust Cody Ford who was drafted in the second round (there was some weird drama there behind the scenes). So really, when were we supposed to make this big splash FA signing on the line? We have had Morse and Dawkins starting for years, and have our own fair share of decent starters and high draft picks waiting in the wings. -

If there is one Beane move I will never ever complain about, it’s trading for Diggs. Even if Jefferson ends up being the second best WR in history. Diggs had borderline #1 WR play at the NFL level, and was a much lower risk than the fourth WR off the board. Josh needed Diggs to blossom into the top 2 QB he is. And the Bills needed Josh to blossom. Jefferson could’ve been just okay, he could’ve been a late bloomer, he also could have been a flat out bust. The path to developing a young QB is clear. You draft a QB with the physical tools and you pair him with an elite or near elite weapon. The Dolphins did it with Tua. The Bears tried with Moore. The Bills did it with Diggs. The Bengals did it with Chase (drafted, but he was the clear best receiver in the draft and wasn’t the 4th WR at pick 22). The Eagles did it with AJ Brown. The Eagles also did it with Alshon Jeffrey back in the day. it was simply the most important move outside of drafting Allen himself that got us franchise QB level play. -
Calling it now: Bills are going to at least reach the AFCCG

“Are people really unhappy with our 6-6 Bills part deux” coming to a thread near you. -
When “winning every single game” isn’t enough to make postseason play, you know your sport is stupid. Where is that dude who wanted Norvell for head coach lol. Truly an offensive mastermind
-
I would tell you we must’ve had a dog ***** OC and a ton of injuries to key players. Lol
-
How many did Brady win straight Bucs first year? Think it was 8
-
I’ll say “last year FSU didn’t even get a shot so they should quit bitching” lol

Chance of Playoffs now, according to NYT simulator
FireChans replied to Ray Stonada's topic in The Stadium Wall
We are like 1.5 games back for a WC spot today. Our season is very much alive. Gotta come out of the bye week on a mission -
I think all of the logic of the committee is selectively applied. They HAD to put Alabama in because they want the best 4. But Georgia is in the best 4 …. crickets. They put Georgia 6th! They said FSU was more deserving than Georgia? Why? And why does that logic not apply to FSU vs. Bama? So glad it’s a 12 team playoff going forward. This nonsense was getting so old. I’m sick of conference champions always making it, except when they don’t. I’m sick of 1 loss teams who don’t make the conference championship jumping the teams that make it to or win the conference finals. It’s over. Now we will get March Madness style chaos and all of CFB will be better for it.
-
It’s the scam of the SEC. Alabama is impressive because they beat Tennessee. Is Tennessee good? NOPE. They barely beat TAMU and Kentucky, lost to Florida and got blown out by Mizzou. But they are a feather in the cap for Bama. Why? Because they play in the SEC.
-
I was talking about Alabama. It was a one score game vs USF til the final minutes lol

Addressing the "Josh Allen is TO machine" narrative

He's right on the level of Stef huh? -
TCU beat Michigan last year. Should Georgia have been in? After all, they are clearly in the top 4 and they had a tough schedule and only 1 loss to another playoff team.
-
This is also why Bama fans fought the CFP expansion so hard. Bama’s chances of winning a Natty drop precipitously if there was a chance they met Georgia again. They know it. Their fans know it. Which is why when they scream “it was about the four best teams,” they never mention that Georgia is clearly better than Washington. They really don’t want to compete.
-
Hey now, it’s not like we’ve ever seen a backup QB win a national championship before. Let’s be fair. They also barely held on against USF
-
Nah, undefeateds won’t get to 12. No one will care about one loss SMU getting in or not.
-
Glad this bull#### is over with the 12 teams next year.
-
Neither will.
