His role is playing blocker on run downs, core STer, and being functionally one of the worst WR’s in the NFL when it comes to snaps and production in the passing game. I understand his role very well. I understand niche value. What I dispute is HOW valuable is niche value. What I do know is that I argued, hard, that Gabe Davis wasn’t good enough to be the clear cut #2 on this roster. Despite his value add as a blocker and 10x the receiver Hollins is. I was right. What I do know is that I argued, hard, that the boundary WR’s were a disaster this offseason. I argued that Mack Hollins would start on the boundary and not be good enough, despite his value add as a blocker. Of course, I was right, the GM agreed by like week 5 and made one of the more expensive trades midseason to supplant him. So no. I totally get he’s a nice blocker and STer and you can argue has earned a role on this roster. What you can’t argue is that he deserves the second most snaps at WR this season. We know he doesn’t, the GM has already told us so.

There’s damning with faint praise then there’s, “he’s better than literal garbage vet minimum Trent Sherfield” lol Mack is currently 181st in the NFL in yards. Feels about right where he is as a player.

You know who used to argue that Mack Hollins was good enough all offseason, only to watch their GM trade a third round pick as soon as he could to get him back to the bench ASAP? Arguing that Mack is good enough to deserve 65% of offensive snaps is arguing with the GM who certainly didn’t trade for Amari Cooper to keep Mack’s “vibes” on the field. He watched Mack’s highest target game be one of the worst games of Josh’s career. Just a big coincidence lol. He’s a great blocker and good on ST. That’s how he carved out an NFL career as a WR that can’t do anything else well as a WR. Marcus Easley with better PR.

Wow, 2 first downs in a game? 10 on the year? These are not good numbers for a guy who is the #2 WR in snaps. 1 first down every 35 snaps is roughly 2 first downs a game lol. Gabe Davis clears those numbers and he's having the worst year of his career in Jacksonville.
-
We've already seen it. Josh went 9/30 missing just Shakir. Now he's missing Coleman and Cooper. Mack has outsnapped his last year in Atlanta already. And still has less than half the yards he did last. "Capable of beating his man and making plays down field" is pissing on my head and telling me it's raining. The. guy. sucks. You want him WR6/ST? Sure fine. He's WR2 in snaps. He's not good enough for that. He's putting up Lee Smith blocking TE numbers because he's just about as good of a receiver lmao.

Can't wait to see the "plus" player playing 90% of snaps on the boundary this week. Maybe Josh will break a record of throws that travel less than 1 yard in the air this go round.
-
He has played 350 snaps and has 111 yards and a paltry 4.2 YPT. I’m pretty confident that may be the worst yardage total by any WR in the NFL with > 350 snaps. So sure. He’s a good blocker. He may be the most useless actual receiver in the NFL.

Great topic. We have all watched a bad franchise stay bad in a division for 20 years. The secret? Make sure your rivals don't find the guy at QB. When Brady was the class of the AFCE, he had to face a laundry list of BUMS at QB in Buffalo. Tyrod, Fitz, Losman, Edwards, EJ, Tuel, Thad Lewis etc etc etc. The biggest reason our star started rising because we found Josh Allen. From a law of averages, every year the other 3 teams don't take a QB, our chances of owning the division gets higher. I don't know who the Jets will find, but they have wasted 2 years on Rodgers. Every year they don't take a QB is good for us. The Dolphins are locked into Tua and have been. When it comes to challenging the Bills for the AFCE, they would have been better off with him being a total bust. Drake Maye is the biggest threat imo. If he ends up sucking, maybe Mayo starts another garbage Tyrod/Fitz QB for a year or two before he drafts another one. That would be excellent.

The only person that will dictate if Rasul gets another contract is Benford’s availability, imo.

This is probably my least favorite take of all takes. 100% yes. Imo there is no way we don’t go CB high. @GunnerBill is correct. Unless something catastrophic happens, Douglas will walk, they will bring in a solid FA and draft a guy high. Elam will up odd man out, his option will be declined and will be cut or moved after TC.

I think a random practice squad UDFA is better at this point. he may honestly be the worst CB in the nfl. Very sad. That 2017 class was elite. -
Kansas City/Tampa Bay on Monday Night Football

Hey man, you always play for OT when Mahomes is 13 for 13 on third down lol -
LaFleur had a 4 time MVP at QB and got mortified by Jimmy G and Brock Purdy in the playoffs. If he couldn’t win then, when can he?

Bowles is consistently one of the worst game decision HC’s in the league. Horrific in NY. Horrific now. Just garbage. -
Fire LaFleur?

Is this the best team in the Allen era?
FireChans replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Shoot I forgot. So it would be 5 on that 2021 team. Yeah I take the 21 team still. But we will get Milano back at some point hopefully and see what happens. The back 7 will really need him and Bernard playing at a high level come postseason. I will say this. IMO, Josh Allen is playing the best ball of his career. He has never done this much with less. Having the game he had yesterday was incredible. And when your generational QB plays the best ball of their career (even if the raw numbers don’t support it) you can win the SB. Just ask the 2022 Chiefs. -
Is this the best team in the Allen era?
FireChans replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
No. I think if Amari turns on and Coleman continues elevating, this could be one of the better offenses. I think the talent disparity of the defense is too much to ignore. The 2021 team had a lot of talent. Hyde and Poyer were AP. White was AP the year before. Milano was AP the year after. I don't think we have 4 guys on the defense that will ever make an AP team, personally. -
The argument against Shakir is that the WR market is so insane, the money he will be commanding is not going to be "worth" his play as an excellent slot-only guy. And Shakir has been EXCELLENT. He may be up there with the best slots in the game, and he's still quite young. For reference, when Cole Beasley signed with Buffalo in 2019, he was the 38th highest paid WR. He probably wasn't as good as Shakir will be when he's an FA, but that was the money he commanded. He was making $7.25M AAV. The top 10 were all making around $9-$10M more AAV. The 38th highest paid WR in the NFL currently is our own Curtis Samuel for reference. Shakir ain't signing $8M per. The top 23 are all making $12M to $27M more. Khalil is going to dictate top 20 ish money which will push him to around $20M a year imo. And that's right around where I would say they should let him walk. I don't think they will. The WR room will hopefully have another rookie scale guy playing a significant role along with Coleman, and they will use their low contracts to justify paying Shakir as the only true vet producer in the room. Not sure its a good idea, but they will almost certainly pay him unless he asks for ASB money imo.

Cover 1- Why And How Miami Gashed The Bills In The Run Game
FireChans replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDaniel hasn't been patient the entire time he's been the Dolphins coach. It was honestly his best playcalling night vs us in a while. Remember when they were up 7 week 18 last year ALL GAME and we still outrushed them by like 16 attempts? If McDaniels yesterday was calling that week 18 game, they win the division, imo.
