  1. Who will get more money in FA?
  2. In a weird way, I wouldn’t change a thing. Picking EJ Manuel, doubling down on that draft pick by trading up for Watkins, using the 2015 first instead of the 2014 second so we could pick Cyrus Kouandjio (yikes), all of it spun the tapestry for us to eventually get Josh Allen. Butterfly effect and all that. Yes, maybe we break the drought a little bit sooner if we don’t make that trade, but by the same token, maybe we don’t have Allen as our QB. Maybe we are paying Derek Carr $30M a season. Maybe we have Dak Prescott choking in the first round every year. Maybe we are still looking for a QB. We are one of the handful of franchises with a surefire elite QB. A QB that makes us top 3-4 in Super Bowl odds in Vegas every year. The Sammy Watkins trade was worth THAT.
  3. I’m slowly getting more and more convinced this is the kind of old good player that Beane will go after. Especially with Brady’s emphasis on the run and McD being a defensive guy. A pound the rock for 3 YPC guy just feels right. So what do we think?
  4. It wasn't impulsive. Max Crosby was saying he was going to demand a trade if Pierce wasn't named HC. Now the players probably feel that way because of McDaniels over Bisacchia 2 years ago. But I think Davis had much more heat internally than externally. I also don't think coordinator experience is THAT big of a deal for the HC job. Harbaugh was a ST coordinator. Tomlin had 1 year of being a DC ever. We are down to picking up the stems of the Shanny coaching tree. And at this point, I'm not sure the offense is all that "innovative" when the clones run it.
  5. This is correct. The fourth WR off the board last year probably had the best rookie season. The first had a slow start, and the second has major bust concerns already. The second best WR taken was pick 55. In 2022, the top 2 WR’s were the second or third off the board. The arguably third best was pick 52. In 2021, the best WR was the first off the board at #5. The second best was pick 112. In 2020, best WR was the fourth off the board. The second best was third off the board. The third and fourth best were fifth and sixth off the board. Moral of the story, don’t trade up for a WR. They haven’t been dropping the ball in the postseason.
  6. I think he’s about to be a Raven personally.
  7. The absolute best thing to happen to Sam Hartman probably. Sucks to not see all the guys play.
  8. Diggs has basically disappeared every playoff loss since being here. 2020: 11 targets 6 catches for 77 yards 2021: 6 targets 3 catches for 7 yards 2022: 10 targets 4 catches for 35 yards 2023: 8 targets 3 catches for 21 yards It's not talked about enough because we like Diggs, and in some of those games the offense as a whole didn't look egregiously bad, but the dude is basically a playoff no-show in the the divisional round and later. For a guy who wants to win a Superbowl, he sure doesn't play like it when we need him to.
  9. thank you. Think this class is super overrated. Caleb and or Maye may be good. That’s it
  10. They just did the whole culture thing with Rivera. He was there John Fox with the Bears to reset the locker room and culture. Now they are resetting the culture…. Again. Tough to watch.
  11. Tyler Dunne is sitting on their porch as we speak.
  12. I have to say, if I was the owner of the Bills I would be the biggest meddler in the history of meddlers. I would be picking players, wheeling and dealing picks. I would be the worst combo of Jerry Jones, Tepper and Woody Johnson you could ever imagine. If I ever get the 6 billion I need to purchase the Bills, you will remember me forever.
  13. Maybe. After a really hot start he cooled off significantly. If the Jags got Higgins (which to me is the stretch), how much do we think Ridley goes for? He’s already 29. Less than Gabe Davis probably, right?
  14. If the Lions miss the playoffs next year because they have zero DB talent, will we revise this take? I get that long term thinking isn’t sexy in the NFL. But James Cook had a better yards/touch in the NFL than Gibbs did. And James Cook was an end of the second pick while they traded up for Gibbs to #12. It’s just bad strategy. It doesn’t mean the player isn’t good. I love Gibbs, he has tons of pop and is fun to watch. KC picked CEH at the end of the first as a luxury pick in a move that was pretty roundly criticized. They won the Super Bowl two years later, and are back in another one. It was still the wrong pick from a strategy perspective.
  15. I’m not sure they did. Gibbs obviously had a great year, but trading up for a top 12 pick is about value, not having one good rookie season.
  16. If position coaches were so important, the 2013 Washington Redskins should have won the superbowl
  17. It makes me extremely nervous that the OP was “well, we have to take a WR in the first two rounds” like we’re saying now and of course, they didn’t.
  18. Instead of Belichick taking the year off, he should coach our linebackers. Bring in Pete Carroll to coach our DB’s. Get the OJ Dream Team coaching staff.
  19. Deebo is the biggest 5’11 214 guy I have ever seen.
  20. Josh Allen wasn't great in college, and a lot of toolsy QB's who are gigantic and look the part get overdrafted and suck.
  21. "Hitting the opposing QB a lot to rattle him" is about as novel of a strategy as "score more points than the other team"
  22. Don’t forget Jim Monos, the former director of player personnel that McD canned and he had to start driving Ubers. Thats a true story.
  23. I think this year is going to be a total referendum on how we discuss QB development in college football. If Bo Nix, who was horrific at Auburn, ends up being an NFL caliber QB after playing CFB for 6 years, it will go a long way to support longer development for young QB’s
