Breaking: Von Miller to bills, 6 year , 120 million
Bruffalo replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd love for you to explain how he's "not that great" when all of the metrics say that he's better than guys who got similar contracts. Pressure win rate, tackles, hell even just sacks are better/more efficient than a guy like Chandler Jones. -

9 sacks in the last 8 games he played. All of the advanced metrics point to Miller being slightly more efficient than Chandler Jones, who everyone seemed to want. -
There has never been a bad OJ on the Bills. Career year confirmed.

Bigger when you see the implications. Mario Williams signing might have been more fun though with all the buildup. This came out of nowhere really from the fan perspective. -

With the details of the contract leaking, this is a phenomenal signing. The Bills just got a legit leader on defense with superbowl experience. I love this pick on so many levels. The development of our pieces on DE, our win now chances, and the fact that we didn't give up any assets. BEANE KNOCKED THIS OUT OF THE PARK. -

It's being reported that it's more a 3 year/53 million dollar contract with all the outs. -

He only seems older in the mind of football fans because he's been a legit superstar for so long. -

Pretty wild signing. In terms of a leader for the DE room, you definitely can't ask for better than Miller. This is an established superstar professional. The contract is nuts, but I suspect it'll make more sense when we see the details with void years and all that. -
AZ cuts Jordan Phillips - now signed by Bills

I don't see anything wrong with this if you're signing him to be a depth piece at a depth price. -
AZ cuts Jordan Phillips - now signed by Bills

It's my understanding that we save 1.5 million this season if we cut him before June 1st, but if we cut him afterwards then we can save almost 5 million this season. I'm in no way a salary cap expert but they've said similar on WGR and Cover1. -

I'm all for cutting Star but it's gotta be one of those post June 1 cuts right? I mean what's best for the Bills is if they can just convince Star to retire. -

Phillips would have to be a depth signing at a very low contract to make any sense. Yeah the guy had a career year here in Buffalo but it felt really flukey honestly, even though he's a scheme fit. -
If Kromer can polish a turd he deserves a raise.

(Edit) Loss of coordinators' effect on success next season
Bruffalo replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in The Stadium Wall
lol yeah. People are talking like having an amazing QB who is worth a mega contract is a bad thing. It's ridiculous. -
This would/will be an awesome hire. It's like the Trubisky of coaches coming in. Any time you can get a position coach with recent OC experience I think that's a pretty good win. Were the Carolina offensive woes really his fault? I don't know that we can say they were based on the QB play.

You're not saying anything. If you're just going to say "well they could be good, or they could be bad, who knows?" then what's the point of posting anything? -
This is a throwaway line and basically a non-story. Maybe Daboll was frustrated with McD's game management or something else, or maybe he felt that McD didn't put him in the best position to be elevated into a HC. That doesn't mean he hated the guy or that they're bitter rivals or something. I get frustrated at my boss and coworkers sometimes too, that doesn't mean I'm miserable and will jump ship at any opportunity. Flores is basically bringing it up as a speculation.

Bills interviewing Raiders WR coach Edgar Bennett for OC
Bruffalo replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kind of a bizarre choice, I wonder what has elevated him to this potential in McD and Beane's eyes. -
Bills request to interview Tee Martin for OC Job
Bruffalo replied to 17islongenough's topic in The Stadium Wall
Of all the Ravens positional groups, WR has consistently been their worst. I don't know how I feel about this even if it's just a feeler interview. -
The defense doesn't have "that" leader. Poyer and Hyde are sort of that, but that's more for their positional group. It was supposed to be Edmunds but he really hasn't stepped into that role very vocally.

Yeah, I think it's a pretty silly concept too. I've said it a lot, but I'm sick of seeing Mario "kind of got close but whiffed" Addison eat away snap counts and slow the development of our actual future at the position. I don't even think it's a talent problem why we don't see the D-Line manifest sacks, I think it's the coaching.
-
There's a big pattern of the Bills having defensive meltdowns and losing in big moments. McD always kinds of handwaves it away with "execution", as if the scheme and playcalling is above criticism. I think you're right but I also think it's not going to happen. I would love to see a much more aggressive approach to defense because we know that the offense is capable of always putting up a lot of points. The prevent "bend don't break" style is for teams that win by dominating clock. It's not who we are and I wish we could adjust.

I'm sure NFL fans will have fun with it. The national media won't bring up the choke job that he had though.

Crazy what happens when you don't put you're whole secondary 10 yards behind all the receivers every snap.
