Because weight and height exclusively decide the effectiveness of an RB. This is a braindead take.

It just boils down to this: The Bills thought certain guys (Davis, McKenzie, Saffold, Moss, Spencer Brown, Ryan Bates) would step up and be adequate to good contributors on the offense, and none of them stepped up to a level that was acceptable for a team of this caliber. They've made some low end upgrades, and they still have faith apparently in Davis, Brown, and Bates in that they didn't go replace them. I think the offense is slightly better. Slightly better might be enough to make things way less clunky. It's hard to say. I want to see more offensive investment via the draft. G/C, WR, TE, T... any of those early would be a boon, but you've got to remember that McD absolutely refuses to play rookies.
-
I understand the sentiment, but are there any meaningful upgrades left with the O-Line in FA? I'd like to see investment in the offense heavily this draft, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm with you. Gabe is in the final year of his contract and I don't see how the Bills can feel comfortable about offering him another deal. It's why even if they land OBJ I still want to see investment into WR early into the draft, and then maybe take a flyer on a guy late as well.

He's arguably better than Zeke, and he's definitely better than Fournette, who looked shockingly bad last season. Henry would be a more impactful signing but certainly not a move I would want them to make considering the cost. Harris is a good, smart signing.

I like the signing, but I'm very interested to hear the terms. He is likely an upgrade from Singletary in just about every way so long as he's healthy. Still need more investment in the WR room and O-Line.

I'm still fully on the OBJ train for a sensible deal. Even if they sign either of them I still want a WR in the first 3 rounds.
-
I didn't mean anything I wrote as an attack on his character. To me, he's in that category of player that you just kind of shrug off when they go somewhere else. No malice intended.
-
Good luck to him, I doubt he'll be missed by the fans here in any meaningful way.

I said this about the McKenzie replacement as well... Low risk move that creates new competition in the room for depth WR spots. I'm fine with it, I'd still like to see more investment on the offensive side of the ball, but having solid depth is important too and shouldn't be ignored.

Anyone just sit back and appreciate it?

Buffalo is so desperate for a championship it's about to burst. You win one this century and all the anxiousness will be gone. Until then, it's a lot to ask this fanbase to just sit back and enjoy the ride. -
The Jets have to get considerably better at O-Line to be AFC favorites, but they certainly are more dangerous with Rodgers. It's not a guarantee that Rodgers will be the Rodgers we've seen on the packers for years in NY either. Look at Wilson or Watson as recent examples.

Considering how broken Poyer was even early in the season I would disagree. If he can stay healthy that's ideal, but we basically have nobody behind him who I like.

I'm not going to get into politics on a board about football, but lol. Sure, whatever you say.
-
I'm whelmed. He's still a great player when healthy, I just don't see him being healthy all season as a likely scenario anymore. On a personal note: I can't eyeroll any harder about his constant whining about NYS.

This is a really interesting signing. A lot of upside potential, returning abilities, etc... He hasn't put it all together on the field though. Not a lot of targets in any given season, he's also smaller than McKenzie. It's a bit of a lottery ticket, and it's a $5 ticket instead of a $1 scratcher, but I don't hate it.

I can't speak to the coaches' mindset but for me personally, yes that defines his entire season as a depth player who needs to make the most of their opportunities to remain in the NFL. He may have had productive "do your job" type downs throughout the season but that wouldn't outweigh essentially losing the game because of a selfish glory-type mistake, or the horrific ST penalty he caused a few weeks later. Ultimately, you're right, it means very little because hopefully he never sees the field again.
-
This is one of those moves that I legitimately can't understand outside of a sunk cost fallacy. Cam Lewis was awful last season. He arguably lost the Vikings game with a selfish, boneheaded play and then made another huge ST mistake. He's not good at any phase of the game, he's at replacement level. He's not physically gifted over other NFL players and he's not heady and smart on the field. He's a bust, and he should be shown the door. He's not even worth it to bring in for "competition" after the last season. I'd rather take a shot on someone with potential upside over a known quantity that was a net negative last season.

Good for Edmunds to grab generational wealth in a single contract. I'm glad the Bills didn't make that deal. He's a quality player in the NFL, but you can't pay quality players like superstars.
