In my mind it's going to take walking away from McDermott. It's Beane's job to scout the players, but McDermott is the one shouting in his ear on what the team "needs". McDermott has always prioritized defense to a zealous degree. If we spent a chunk of those high picks on offensive talent we probably would have a ring right now.

It was just a horrible play call regardless. 2 yards needed, so we line up in the shotgun and pass, 6-7 yards away from where we need to go. We were averaging 9+ a carry. A designed Allen run feels like it would have been a sure thing.

Reid Ferguson is the key to all of this guys. We need a Reid chant on Sunday

I said after the Giants game and I got roasted: I don't think Sean is a likable as an individual. That doesn't mean he's a bad coach. He's a solid coach, but he's spread too thin now. Calling the defense was a mistake, because now the other two phases of the game look like a sloppy mess. Was he a dictator to get everyone in line in 19-20-21-22? I don't know, but he probably had more time to impose his practice like you play, hard work throughout the week values.

Josh Allen needs his Phil Jackson…(edited title)
Bruffalo replied to Lenigmusx's topic in The Stadium Wall
It needs a second pass for sure, maybe hire an editor at this point. -
Pot, meet kettle. You can't look at turnovers without factoring in offensive production. "In 2023 he has to play better hitting his receivers and stop turning over the ball." The narrative that it's on Allen minimizes so much that's wrong about the Bills right now that it's laughable to focus on.

Would you today trade places with Texans fans?
Bruffalo replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
Okay, then no, because I'd rather have a top 5 WR and a top 3 QB. -
I don't think anyone who has been defending Allen is trying to claim he's played perfect football this season. He absolutely could have been better in Dorsey's scheme, but Dorsey could have also adjusted the style of play, route trees, playcalls, etc... when it was apparent that Josh wasn't thriving in the system. Losing Daboll has had a huge effect, agreed, but I'm not willing to say Daboll was the only guy out there who can get the best out of Allen. We only know Dorsey couldn't.

This is fun. Now do what % of offensive yards he was responsible for in 21 and 22.

You'll get no argument from me about that. They've maybe been the biggest surprise of the season other than the Bills' meltdown. -
Bryan Cox has an estimated net worth of 5m. That's 75 million less than Fitzpatrick, not including any advertising money he made during his career. 5 million is a lot of money, but it's not generational FU money.

Want to point out one that made 80 million dollars?

There's definitely not enough data to think that it's a sure thing the Texans continue trending up. -
He's living his best life right now, in what world would he possibly want to give that up and grind day in and day out. There's a reason why you don't see successful players go into coaching.

I think it's insane but there's been a medium size contingent of people on this board who would disagree with you. Somebody last night compared Allen to Jay Cutler and they were serious.

Remember when Schopp and the Bulldog had McDermott on the air once a week during Allen's rookie year, and Schopp straight up asked him why Peterman was still on the team? McD got all pissy and then Schopp was off the air for like 20 minutes. McD never went on the afternoon show again, as far as I know.

Impossible to know without being in the room. Better to make a change though than stick with one of the most predictable offenses in the NFL.

I heard that as well, I wonder how people like that put their pants on in the morning, much less operate a phone. He also mentioned that they should have fired the special teams coordinator because they have a cancer in the locker room. I wasn't aware Diggs was so involved in special teams.

As someone who worked in public education for a decade, I can assure you that's not the case for everyone. That being said, I agree with what you're saying in a macro sense.

It's too early to call it a failure since Knox got injured and Kincaid was getting up to speed as a rookie, and by the time he did Knox hasn't been able to take the field. I think somebody a bit more creative would love to use the 12 personnel set that the Bills have. There's a lot of talent there. Dorsey just couldn't do it and there seems to be universal consensus in the football community that he was a big part of the problem.
-
I'm probably the only one on this board who thinks the Knox contract isn't bad at all. He's an excellent red zone threat, a great blocker, and right in the middle of the pack in passing catching TEs. Dorsey sucked and I'm somewhat convinced that Knox's regression is partially due to that.

I mean, look at it this way: For years Sal covered the team and they were trash. Nobody cared about them, no national spotlight, not a whole lot of scrutiny either. Then McDermott comes in and turns around the org. They make the playoffs, then they hit big on Allen. All of the sudden you're getting national media spots, you're getting invited to jump on podcasts, Pat McAfee, etc... People are tuning in, and you're getting more popular as a result. Your opinion is getting more and more traction. It's fun and it's exciting. Of course he buys all of it. It's undoubtably made his life better and more interesting. And I want to say that even though my profile picture is megamind Sal, I don't think he's the best at what he does.

DeShawn Watson out for year-agent accused of highway robbery

He's clearly a homer, but I think he genuinely believes what he's saying. It's hard to have objectivity if you're that close to the organization and know the coaches/staff/players as people and not just football personalities.
