Calling it now: You're all about to witness the arrival of Shakir
Bruffalo replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think Shakir is an elite roleplayer and the production he got is indicative of the coverage talent he faces. That's not a dig at Shakir, I think he's going to be a high end slot WR3 guy, someone like Tyler Boyd, although stylistically they're not really the same. This is the same as Gabe Davis, who was promoted too far in the lineup. You want these types of players as #3s, not 2s or 1. I'd love to be wrong though. -
This is a ridiculously melodramatic take with almost nothing backing it up.

New Buscaglia mock has Bills trading up to 7 for Malik Nabers
Bruffalo replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
I really don't like the idea of losing this year's second round pick, but I'm okay with moving up for a top WR talent. Double dipping is where I'm at too. I think it makes more sense. Give me a AD Mitchell and Franklin/Legette/Polk/McConkey. You've got so much talent then. If they do move up, I want to see them go get a low-risk high reward FA like Thomas. -
I doubt Collins is being brought in to compete for OT. He's competition for LG and possibly the swing role.
-
I'm a little surprised by the reaction to this, he could push Edwards out of an OG role. OL with lots of starting experience are valuable. Kromer has done a great job with the line. I think this is a home run.

Chris Trapasso said on WGR yesterday that he thinks packaging our 1st & next years 1st & the Vikings 2nd should be enough to move us to 7. It's a lot to give up, but to stabilize your WR room it's probably worth it. The other side of it makes some sense too, just wait and draft 2 talented WRs in the 1st & 2nd. It's kind of hedging your bets that one of them will be able to just take over. I know there are some Justin Shorter truthers out there who will tell you we don't need two WRs but I think it's sort of laughable.

That’s right. The deferred money all comes due immediately now that he’s been traded. The upside is now after this season his cap hit is 0, freeing up a lot moving forward.
-
I think a more moderate move up to Brian Thomas is realistic. Id also be fine just grabbing AD Mitchell at ~28 and move around the 2nd and grab Franklin.

What's more wild is look at how potent the offenses were in those games against the Chiefs without Diggs doing anything. The Bengals game not withstanding because the whole team was a mess that day. It sucks that it didn't work out more cleanly, Diggs is a phenomenal talent, and the Bills will be fine without him. All of these things can be true.

Did Diggs ask for a trade? Beane:

Sounds like my mother.

The salary/contract.

Higgins was franchise tagged, right? I think Aiyuk would make the most sense if they're looking for an established #1 guy. I'm more intrigued with the trade up for a rookie and you bring in a WR like Thomas that's kind of a low risk gamble.
-
There are some interesting names there to pair with a rookie (that you might want to trade up for). You have to think this went into Beane's decision making process.
-
The longer they sit out there the cheaper they'll be. Thomas + trade up 1st round WR is more interesting to me than OBJ, but I wouldn't hate it.
-
In that (awful, in my opinion) scenario, I'd hope they'd trade up to 29-31 to leapfrog the Chiefs, who are going to be the beginning of the 2nd run on WRs.
-
They weren't wrong in the pure football discussion of it, it made little sense to move on. BUT if you factor in the seemingly undeniable off the field / "diva" complaints, then it makes sense.
-
Elam wouldn't add much to the compensation, he's probably worth a 5th-6th round pick at this point due to his 1st round rookie salary.
-
It's massive because that dead cap would be paying Diggs (minus 3 mil), and now you don't have that on a player. That being said, I don't think it's wrong if all this reporting is true. Diggs is a great player but we need guys on the same page as Allen. Whatever falling out they might have been unfixable. Hopefully we move up a draft a top 3-4 WR this draft and continue to invest in the room.
-
There is no dead cap on a traded player the season after. All dead cap gets moved to the year they were traded. It's one of the reasons people thought he couldn't be traded, the Bills have taken on a massive dead cap hit but have cleared the books (saving 25ish mil) next season.
-
If the Bills did nothing (not even drafted) and came into next season with exactly what they have I still think they have a great chance (I'll put it at 70% arbitrarily) to win the division. This is the year to retool if there ever has been one.
-
It's impossible to know right now, so I gave it a C. The receiving core is obviously worse as of right now but I got to think the Bills have a plan.
-
In a vacuum I'd prefer to double dip but I don't want to go into the season without an established presence in that room. So I guess I want a trade up. I see them going Brian Thomas and then drafting another in the 4th, along with some kind of veteran trade or signing.

Personal insults and reviving dead threads... Must be a really fulfilling day you're having.
