  1. It’s deals like this that makes me continue to question why people think the Bills can’t afford their players. The rams are laying Goff, Donald, Ramsey, Woods, Kupp all too money plus they have Gurley’s dead cap hit on top of that. People need to stop saying the Bills can’t afford all of their players. I will say it again, if the Bills want to keep a player, there is no issue whatsoever with them keeping that player
  2. If this comes of as condescending it's not meant to, but the Bills will have no problem signing these guys if they choose to sign them. Take a look around the league at what other teams are spending. Look how much money KC has handed out lately. New Orleans, Dallas, the Rams....they all have an incredibly high number of large contracts and they don't have issues. They even said this weekend that if Brees had retired New Orleans would've gone after Brady! If the Bills want to keep these guys, they will be able to keep them.
  3. Convenient how he’s left out, isn’t it?
  4. I think the fact that it was a conditional 7th round pick the Panthers were very aware of what could happen. We don’t know the full working of the trade so there could be things in there, but making the trade with less than a week before cuts leads me to believe they knew there was a high likelihood they were giving him to the Bills for nothing
  5. Yikes-you say something like that and accuse the other side of being brainwashed?
  6. Not a chance-he will be claimed by a team far higher on the waiver list. I doubt he even makes it past Washington at #2
  7. I’ve said it before-if a team like the cowboys can pay all of the guys they are paying, if the Chiefs can afford all of the contracts on their roster including Mahomes huge deal, the 49ers have several large contracts as do the Seahawks, I’m not even a little bit concerned about the Bills guys getting paid. We just aren’t used to having guys that will get paid a second contract here. This is pretty much a “nothing to see here” issue
  8. It always seemed as though we saw the max out of Fitz but most people felt as though Tyrod had more to give. I'm not saying that's the reality but that was the perception
  9. Uhhhhhhhh what?? The guy threw almost as many interceptions as he did touchdowns-although to be fair he didn’t throw that many interceptions (40 Ted, 36 int). He will always be loved for the comeback, but man, to think a career back up quarterback would be better suited to run this team than Josh....yikes
  10. Those giants linebackers would never see the field now except for goal line, 3rd and short, or 4th and short. Far too slow to keep up with the players today. As soon as the coach and QB see those guys in the field they make sure those guys at matched up on the slot or a RB
  11. I don’t think getting Hodgins onto the practice squad will be very difficult. He’s a late round pick and there is no new film on him. I would find it hard to believe that he would pick a different team to sign with as well-he knows the system here so it is MUCH more likely he will play here than anywhere else. Honestly the same can probably be said about Duke...
  12. Why is it greedy for the owners to make more money? Are you greedy because you ask for a raise at your job? Companies are willing to spend large amounts of money to have their name on a stadium, so why isn’t that ok? I hate this sentiment that because these guys have money any time they find a way to make more they are greedy. The Bills already give plenty to charity, much more than you or I could ever give.
  13. I think it’s pretty obvious back up QB was not really a priority the last couple of years. They needed to upgrade a lot of positions and Beane has done a great job of that. I do think they have enough quality starters and depth that if Allen does go down for a game or two they have enough confidence in Barkley to do enough in those games. They know they need to upgrade the back up position, and perhaps they put a call in to gauge the I tweet of Dalton, Marriotta, etc. but they chose to focus their money and resources over the last couple of years on making the rest of the team better
  14. I will admit I am probably nitpicking, but I don’t think it will be tough to sign Tre at all. He wants to be here and a deal will get done. Money is almost a non-factor in my eyes honestly. The chiefs are paying Mahomes all that money they just signed him for, are paying Watkins, paying Hill, have some guys on def that they are paying AND just made Kelce the second highest paid tight end in the league. The Seahawks also have huge contracts, as do the Niners, Cowboys, etc. and they always make it work. We are talking about the signing will be tough because we are laying Dawkins, Diggs, and maybe Milano before Tre? We just aren’t used to having this many guys who are worth keeping and paying more money to. if your front office guys are really good at their jobs (which Beane definitely is) you can always work out contracts to get the guys you want signed long term. Sorry, don’t mean to come down harsh on your post, but I see people say it will be tough all the time when it reality it won’t be that difficult.
  15. I can’t believe this is being discussed AND to this length!! Moves like this is what the old Bills would attempt to do and what this board would kill them over! We finally have that young superstar and now people want to trade him for draft picks? People need to get over this idea that the Bills are only going to be able to pay 1 guy top dollar-look at the really successful franchises, they have paid multiple guys a lot of money. Paying Tre does not mean you won’t have enough money to sign any other guys, and saying he should be traded is just a ridiculous statement. The Bills finally have something positive going and some of you are ready to start all over. you know who trades away a top corner for a couple of picks? The Jags-do you really want this team to look like the Jags?
  16. Everybody does to an extent. It's why we buy certain clothes, why some people buy a certain car, why you make a particular post on social media. I'm not saying it's the only reason, but everyone cares what other people think about them. For example, I'm a teacher in my "real life." You think it doesn't upset me reading what other people are saying about teachers and education right now? Why, because they barely made it through high school they know how to do my job and because I want my students and myself to stay safe that makes me lazy? Do those idiotic statements keep me up at night? No, but they definitely have an effect on me in the moment. It's the same thing with him, he's allowed to have a reaction. So to you being a man means you aren't allowed to react. Yes he is getting a ton of love, probably 10-1 the amount of hate. Think about how much hate he is still getting. You're delusional if you can say that it wouldn't bother you...you're just fooling yourself if you think that. There's a difference between playing a victim and having an angry reaction. "Being a man" also allows you to react every once in a while
  17. Is he playing a victim though? I'm sure most people are saying they support him, but I'm sure there are a ton of idiots out there attacking him because he is thinking about playing football. Even if it's "just" 500 or 1,000 people who are saying negative things towards him, that's still A LOT of people being jackasses! I'd be willing to be that number is a lot higher than 1,000 people too...I'd be pretty upset if I had hundreds or thousands of strangers saying some probably pretty awful things to me just because I was thinking about not playing a game
  18. I still don’t understand the mindset that it’s completely fine for a team to cut a guy before his contract is up but get unnecessarily upset when a player holds out. Holding out is the best leverage a player has to get paid more money-if you ever listen to the other players they never hold it against one of their teammates when they hold out. If it doesn’t bother the players, why does it bother the fans so much? Please don’t give me the well they make millions to play a game response, the owners make even more millions to just WATCH these guys play a game
  19. This is a trade that should show Bills fans that the Bills have more than enough money to sign their guys-maybe not all of them, but they will be able to sign the guys they really want to keep. Seattle is paying Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, etc and will have to pay Adams very soon-and we are worried about if the Bills will be able to sign Milano and Dawkins! Yes Tre is going to cost a lot of money, but if you look at what the other teams around the league do, his contract won’t be a problem
  20. Where Drew is making his mistake is that he misunderstands WHY people are taking a knee. I know that people think it is disrespecting the flag and all of that, but if you listen to why they are doing it, it has nothing to do with the flag. At first I was like a lot of people and didn't like that Kaepernick was kneeling until I found out why. I work in the inner city and the kids have always told me that it was never about the flag. It is done at that time because then attention gets paid to an issue that is important to them. The flag is a symbol, and that symbol means different things to different people. I think we need to get to a point where we aren't offended by a person's choice of what they do for the anthem. In most situations, kneeling is a sign of respect
  21. You beat me to it....give it time, I have faith it will devolve into that!
  22. Of course they all love playing the game, they don't get to that level if they don't. By your logic, should Mahomes not get the money that is coming his way? Should Tre White just be happy to get any offer from the Bills? Judging by your user name, you think that the highest paid guys in the league are making $2-$3 million a year. Do you really think that if the money that's out there now was available back for those guys that they wouldn't be going for the highest amount possible? You think Wayne Gretzky would've take less "for the love of the game?" Just like now, those guys back then weren't just "noble warriors" who would've played the game for free. Yes they love the game, but they also want to get paid. You can be passionate about something AND get paid top dollar of what the market dictates, those things aren't mutually exclusive They all want to win, but they all also want to get paid, bottom line. The best GMs know how to work the cap so their best players get paid and the team can still be competitive. Buffalo isn't used to having superstar contracts so we aren't used to having to pay multiple guys large contracts.
  23. I think this is where the fans have huge misconceptions, especially Bills fans. The teams can always get creative with the cap, they can always create enough room if they really want to sign a guy long term. The problem with us as Bills fans is we haven't really had anyone worth paying a lot of money for. The ones we have paid end up feeling like we overspent (Dareus, Mario Williams as examples). It's not a zero sum game for them - it's a business plain and simple. Might some of them take small hometown discounts, sure, but most of them are trying to maximize their money. Put yourself in their shoes, ignore completely that you're a Bills fan - even if you're making 50 million, are you really willing to make 5-10 million less? I'll be perfectly honest, I wouldn't. It's not my job to figure out the cap. That's what the GM is for, and the good ones know how to manipulate the cap. It's my job to play the best football I possibly can, make the most money I can possibly make because I don't get a lot of time to make that kind of money. If someone says they wouldn't take the max amount of money they could possibly make they are kidding themselves
  24. I have heard players in the past and former players say it all the time - they never hold it against their teammates when they hold out for more money. They all know it's a business and they are all trying to maximize the amount of money they can make in a short window of time. As fans we all get offended when a player holds out, but the players all understand the reasons why someone would hold out.
  25. It just seems to be another one of those discussions where the narrative was already set on Josh before he was even drafted and people don't want to change their minds about it. They used a bunch of stats (which can be manipulated however you want them to look) and then said he won't change at any point going forward. The thing about that statement is that the other narrative about Allen coming out of college was that he was going to be a project and definitely needed a couple of years to develop, but none of these guys ever bring that up any more. It's just a reminder that these guys are here more for entertainment than analysis
