  1. It’s nice that the Bills players are not lighting up the police blotter.. instead this nice story ..love the shnowman https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/04/18/dion-dawkins-hosts-a-food-giveaway-in-his-hometown/
  2. Sorry you are correct .. I should have been clearer ... it can work out, but it often does not. We have successfully traded up (aka Josh) and I do think QBs are in particular a position where you have to take chances because if you don't have a QB it is VERY hard to win in the NFL. The Falcons traded up for Julio and that worked out pretty well also. I personally am just a believer in more darts equates to more opportunities to hit the mark .. and Ido get that trading away higher picks to own the later rounds there can be problematic as well.
  3. The Ricky Williams trade shows why that is not a good strategy. The NFL Draft is a crap shoot to some extent. The 5th round guy ends up being a solid player and the first round player ends up being a bust. I would have been happy back on draft day for the Bills to move up for Ed Oliver. Let's say they gave up their second and 4th last year to move up[ to take a legitimate tackle Isaiah Wilson or even a WR Tee Higgins. The first one obviously is a bust and the second is not better than who we got in the 4th Gabe Davis. As someone else mentioned .. depth is huge as people get hurt and the salary cap ramifications of having a few cheaper guys on rookie contracts helps as well.
  4. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/04/13/nflpa-sends-memo-to-players-recommending-they-skip-in-person-workouts/ Seattle and Denver players are opting out. Will be really interesting to see how this impacts the season .. if at all (i.e., teams that participate vs teams that don't)
  5. I think Diggs cares about his legacy .. and there is a VERY, VERY short list of HOF WRs who moved around teams a lot and one of the keys is having stellar quarterback play.
  6. I don't have a subscription, but PFT referenced the article and focused on the recruitment of Emmanuel Sanders by Stefon Diggs. It is good to see him proactively trying to recruit talent to the 716. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/04/13/stefon-diggs-well-be-able-to-lean-on-emmanuel-sanders-in-crunch-time/ Here is the Athletic link if anyone does have a subscription https://theathletic.com/2513990/2021/04/13/im-definitely-feeling-the-love-1-year-later-stefon-diggs-is-starting-to-feel-at-home-in-buffalo/
  7. Cody Ford should ask for his fine money back .. he was fined for what the NFL considers a legal block ... I would have my agent all over the league office
  8. On the bright side I got great deals on a recliner, cat food, and I was able to name a star after me. CorkScrewHill in the new name of the North Star. On the down side I sprained my index finger trying to click on one of the ads. I am having to use voice recognition software to enter this and my finger is in a cast .. thanks OBD ;).
  9. Since several people mentioned Dean Marlowe .. he was visiting with the Lions this week https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/04/07/dean-marlowe-visits-with-lions/
  10. 49ers traded up to take a WR. Their Franchise QB is already on the team ... he just needs a chance. He is incredibly pro-ready and has tremendous accuracy and decision making ability. They are not going to draft a QB to compete with Joshua Lippincott Rosen .. that would be insanity :).
  11. Not true .. you can not improve ball security or quarterback accuracy .. those are the two unshakeable laws of football
  12. And now he is an imaginary NY Jet .. which somehow seems appropriate. At least he did not sign with the Patriots as the board would be lamenting how Bill got another Pro Bowler from us. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/03/23/jets-sign-delshawn-phillips/
  13. Yes .. that is how he gets paid .. the more people click on his idiot opinions the more ESPN pays the idiot. In the sports opinion game, it is more important to be noticed than right. Just ignore him.
  14. The other thing to keep in mind is with his contract ending after a single year when the cap increases .. he will likely leave for greener pastures next year which very likely will get a nice compensatory pick in 2 years.
  15. Didn't want him catching a big pass against us like he did in the Houston play-off game. Keep your enemies closer
  16. Yes. If I were a betting man, which I am not, I would have bet that Beane asked Smoke to cut his salary by 2 million (same as Butler and Addison & 1 million less than Morse) and he balked. So they got a receiver they could fit in the 6 million dollar window). However, when you include his dead cap hit between that and the salary for Sanders it is almost dead even. Somewhere John Brown is saying "like a family my backside". In the end it is a business and Beane must think that much of Sanders to basically break even.
  17. also .. since he is a cut casualty and not a end of contract free agent .. he will not count against compensatory picks.
  18. Yes .. he was voted to the Pro Bowl because he is 6'5" and has dreads. I can see you saying he doesn't deserve the pro bowl, but "lousy" is clearly a reach and if they were disenfranchised with him it is unlikely we would get less than a second rounder for him. He is considered a athletic, high ceiling LBer who has not quite arrived yet. You do not give that up for an old TE unless you are the Houston Texans.
  19. It is great that we are no longer in the mode of needing to make big splashy signings to get fans interested. It is like the Bills and patriots have really and completely changed places (crappy QB and desperate FA signings vs great QB and measured FA signings). Oh it is finally good to be a Bills fan.
  20. They have signed too many players to get that type of pick even though the Chiefs spent a huge amount $16 million for a guard.
  21. I did not see this posted above, but I didn't read all 26 pages in fairness. This is breakdown by Matt Warren prior to the signing based on recent comparable LB deals. 13+ million was expected .. so we did get a nice discount. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2021/2/2/22260683/contract-projection-for-buffalo-bills-linebacker-matt-milano-2021
  22. I believe it is like when a guy says hey do you want to do something together .. and she names the fanciest restaurant in town and wants to go shopping afterward .. and the guy says cool have a good time with whoever you go with ... and he asks another young lady and she says let’s get mcDonalds and the man proposes on the spot .. I think that is Beane’s interest
  23. There is a reason Jerry signed Dak to that contract .. he knows the TV deals will be massive and what he is paying Dak (a lesser talent than Josh) will not seem outlandish in 2 years. If Josh becomes a bust we are hitting reset anyway so one massive cap hit to get rid of him won't matter. However, since he is such a competitor I do hope that he understands a big reason (besides the fact that he is the goat) that Tom went to and won so many Super Bowls is he left cap room for other players by not being the top paid guy.
