  1. If the Bills come out the next three games [Pats, Rams, Seagulls] with two wins, it's possible. The Pats at home is our toughest remaining game (making assumption about the Steelers.) The Rams at Ralph are beatable, especially if the weather cooperates. Seahawks at home are rough. Their D is playing well and their O seems to be starting to click. Then we have the Dolphins, Browns, Bengals and 49ers...all possible wins. I'm hoping the Steelers have sewn up the AFC by week 17 and rest their starters. They help the Bills win and spite Baltimore....could happen [shrug]
  2. John, I agree a bad coach can ruin a sport for a kid, but I'd like to share a different perspective. I feel to a certain point, if the parent spends their time and resources coaching a youth team, than their kid should play. They're the ones making an effort to arrange their schedules, plan the practices, etc. My personal experience is that competetive teams function better under a coach that doesn't have kids on the team. Usually not the case in little/youth leagues, but it becomes more commonplace with teams you had to try out for. Did I misunderstand, but what it sounds like you dealt with is a coach playing his friend's kids, kid's friends, players living off past reputation or something of that nature. I've been on the wrong side of that and there's nothing more frustrating, especially when you know you're better than some of the people starting. Sounds like your boy was in a competetive league and just got a raw deal. I know it sucks, but it makes you appreciate a good coach when you deal with one. I still think the PAL baseball leagues had it down best. Just kids, only adults were the dads who worked the night shift and they were there for supervision.
  3. I have friends out in Hollywood area that I visit. As they or any of our TBD LA residents can tell you, these people come from delusional ranks of of wannabe actor/actresses. Just because they're the .00001% that made it doesn't mean they've stopped being delusional. Now they have a attentive audience of sheep that listen to them.
  4. Bettman is the foosball debil Bobby. Er wait.... wrong sport. You think Bettman has hired some extra security? Is a little more cautious when he crosses the street? There's got to be some deranged Habs fan out there somewhere stalking him.
  5. The knock on Davis is his durability, but Wells has shown he could fill in adequately...not to mention they still don't know what they have in Hollings. Davis is also an excellent reciever out of the backfield and Carr leans on him when up against good DB's. If I remember correctly Wells was a 2nd rounder, the Texans used a 2nd rounder in the supplemental draft on Hollings and Davis was a fourth rounder. I don't see them parting with a high pick when chances are one of those three will be more than adequate. Scoring hasn't been a big issue for Houston, so the Texans will most likely be more concerned with their secondary in the offseason as opposed to their running game....but hey, who knows. Most of the mock drafts I've seen thus far have two backs definitely going in the first round. Carnell Williams of Auburn and Cedric Benson of UT are definites, with the other kid from Auburn (Cobb?) and Cedric Houston from Tenn being borderline 1st/2nd. The teams I've seen drafting RB's in mocks are the Iggles, Bucs, Cards & Seahawks....so that's the market. I'm suprised not to see the Cowboys on the list, but their D has been horrid, so they might have greater problems. I still think Parcells would love to have Henry. Throw in the Raiders, Felons & Colts, we have 8 teams looking for a RB. I just don't think Henry would fit into Denny Green's system. The Seahawks have FA's with Hasselback, Walter Jones and Alexander so I expect them to use Maurice Morris and get a good rookie for the cheap backup. That leaves Philly & the Bucs, with Henry (theoretically) being the 4th best back on the market behind Alexander, Edge and Williams....plus two teams going with Cadillac and Benson. To me that leaves him as the 7th option, although if he could be signed to agreeable contract, he could move up. Fins - Edge Raiders - Williams Bucs/AZ/Seahawks - One gets Alexander, the other two go draft. Cowgirls, Eagles & Colts - Henry??? If we get a 2nd rounder I'd be extremely happy.
  6. You have to look at the potential buyers out there: Raiders - Rumor has it that Al Davis wants Ricky. Ricky owes the Fins big time, so he needs football to support his recreational activities. Cardinals - Denny Green will turn this team around. Problem is, they'll be a pass first team and I don't think Henry fits with Green's program. Dallas - I see this as the most likely scenario. George was a great back, but he's done. The Boys still don't know what they have in Julius Jones. He'll see time towards the end of the season, but if he doesn't impress Travis is Parcells' type of back. Fins - No way Ricky heads back to the fins, but how many draft picks does Miami have left? I think they used a 2nd on Lamar Gordon. Do you really want to trade Travis in the division and until the Felons name a new HC, who knows what direction they're going. They did give up a 2nd for Feeley, so we can probably get three firsts out of them. Colts - can they sign Marvin and Edge with Peyton's contract on the books? Long Shots: Lions - Jones has been banged up and has flat out sucked when he's healthy. They used a high pick on him, so they'll probably continue to try this experiment at least another year. Rogers returning next year will help....at least for the few games until he goes on IR. Bengals - I don't think they're sold on Rudi. I think the plan was to bring in Perry as the heir apparent and trade (not sure of rudi's FA status) Rudi in the offseason. Granted the Bengals O line is decimated, but Johnson has struggled, and Perry hasn't even had his shot. Seahawks - I believe Alexander is a free agent and the way Holmgren has jerked him around, I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves. Eagles - Is Westbrook/Buckhalter the answer? Also, what backs coming out of college would rate a #1 pick? At least a few of these teams will go that route.
  7. James Spader's character is the perfect smug smart@ss. Show cracks me up.
  8. I'm never logging off again...look what I missed. Figured I'd look at the first page to see what the fuss was about and here I am nineteen pages later. Gotta get a mini-fridge for the home office.
  9. I have been and it's still uncalled for. The guy came here to find help on attending a Bills game, not to be insulted. There are plenty of US citizens that I would consider hygenically (is that a word?) challenged.
  10. Uncalled for.
  11. Classic "Waddya mean too high?" (still bring this one up on the golf course all the time) Harry Doyle: Monte, anything to add? Monte: Uh, no. Harry Doyle: He's not the best colorman in the league for nothing. Rachel Phelps: I wanna put together a team that will help us relocate to Miami. Charlie Donovan: What do ya mean? Some of these guys are furniture movers? Jake: Thats my wife Willie: Does she know that? Jake: Who's that guy she's with? Willie: I don't know, he's not wearing a name tag. Vaughan: Want me to take him outside and kick the stevestojan out of him? Jake: "She bet me $50 she had a better body than you and I had to defend your honor!" "Is that you Tolbert? I'm hungover and if you were going to pull this stevestojan at least you could have said you were from the Yankees!" "Yeah, we got uniforms and everything. It's great!" Vaugn: "I look like a banker in this." Lou: "Nice catch Mays, don't ever f'n do it a again." "Ok Vaughn they tell us your a pitcher, your sure not much of a dresser. We wear caps and sleeves in the league son."
  12. Was it Bledsoe's fault? Time to dust off the gallows
  13. Least the Falcons will knock us out of the running for the weekly Sucktitude Award. 41-10 KC in the 3rd.
  14. [banging head against monitor]
  15. I'm floowing the game on Yahoo Gametracker...has Bledsoe even thrown to Evans yet?
  16. Unfortunately I'm not that original. Stole it from a Sports Talk DJ here in Atlanta.
  17. Voted for Jessica, but have to admit Brittany gets me three quarters husky. Anyone remember that video when she was dressed in the school girl outfit. Yowzaahhhs!!! Also I haven't looked at a flight attendent the same way since I saw Toxic.
  18. Downtown.....hmmmm. Try Jock's and Jill's in the CNN center
  19. I'd agree if the girl would put at least some meat on her bones. She needs to go on my Hostess Plan diet.
  20. Exactly, if Taylor is going to give the other team a boost, I'd ask for more than just Willis....can you get draft picks for next season? How many players can you keep and what are your keeper options currently on the roster? Without seeing your keeper options, Id say.... If your in contention, hold off on this trade. I see Henry & Willis eventually splitting carries this season. If your out of contention, make the trade.
  21. Are you in a keeper league or re-draft? Driver seems to have rekindled his connection w/Favre. The Packs D is horrible, so they need to put up a mass of points to win. Plus Ferguson and Walker are hurt, so Favre may lean on driver even more. I expect when Walker is fully recovered, Driver will lose some of his production. Use him while his hot and he should make at least a decent 3rd Wr for the rest of the season. Clayton has become the #1WR in Tampa. Griese is playing well and Jurevicius is returning, which will pull some coverage off of Clayton. Clayton should be a good 2nd WR short term for you, however be wary if Gruden decides to hand the offense back over to Simms (see Carson Palmer/Chad Johnson in Cincy) I would consider both upgrades over Price and Porter at this point. Crumpler is Vick's first option. Price will be a roller coaster ride. He'll have a few big games followed by a couple 30yd games. As for Porter, Collins sucks so bad right now that he's affecting the tides in the Bay Area. I expect the Raiders O to eventually improve (they can't get any worse) and Porter along with it. No idea when this will happen, but you may wan to consider hanging on to Porter for a while, especially if it's a keeper league. I'd hang on to Evans if it's a keeper league. I expect Lee to post nice #'s for a rookie, but he'll be up and down, much like Price.
  22. I think Rice should return the gold medal to Largent, as it was the judges fault Largent had a zillionth of point deducted from his routine....
  23. [sigh] Gymnastics talk on a football board and the Sox beat the Yankees. Repent, the end is near!!!
  24. Best line by far....but this is my favorite dialogue Trendy Man : Mr. Melon, your wife was just showing us her Klimt. Thornton Melon : You too, huh? She's shown it to everybody. Trendy Man : Well, she's very proud of it. Thornton Melon : I'm proud of mine too. I don't go waving it around at parties, though. Trendy Man : It's an exceptional painting. Thornton Melon : Oh, the painting.
