How good are you at sports!!!!!
Kevbeau replied to Bills/Sabresfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Live in Atlanta, but still manage to get 15 or so days in a year (travel perks of the job. )...although I'm on a snowboard now instead of being a two planker. I don't mind paying the money for a lift tick to a big resort, whih can be anywhere from $35 off season to $75 at the holidays. What I do have a problem with is the resorts that mismanage their crowds, so that I can only get a half dozen runs in a day....and I'm a first chair to last chair guy. -

I hear Hazzard County is looking for a team. -
E. Moulds or R. Smith at WR this week?
Kevbeau replied to Willyville Guy's topic in Fantasy Football
Agreed. Cincy has a gem of a rookie safety in Madieu Williams, who'll probably roll towards Moulds. -

At 31, Still play hockey in 2 competitive leagues and for an adult travel team. It's inline (ice is mucho expensive in Atlanta), but I enjoy the competition and social aspect. I wish you could hit in inline, because it takes away a big part of my game Most of the guys I play with are from the north (Canada, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Buffalo, Michigan) so the level of play is actually quite good with several ex-junior/college and one ex-pro player. Still an avid weightlifter although my shoulder has been limiting my gym time. Man...I turned 30 and it was like hitting a wall. All the little injuries that used to be gone in a week or two now turn into long drawn out nagging pains. Golf....I have my days. Depends on who I'm playing with and the amount of beer in the cooler. -
Our order was held up while the Supreme Court decided on a ruling that all future weapons must be environmentaly friendly. Right now our fuel choices are a fusion driven, mega-thrust warp drive system that runs on fur coats....or diesel. Solar is not an option, because the ACLU feels that the sun is not being fairly compensated. Also, the UN has defined airspace as extending to 5 million miles from the planet, so we'll have to operate....er... really far away. However, my lawyers have found a loophole, that will allow us to fly as close as we want if we offer creationism courses to the crew and name the ship the SS Tim Robbins.

The Bengals/Pats game wasn't as close as the score indicates. The Pats were taking them to the woodshed and then put it in cruise control, allowing the Bengals to get back in the game. Palmer makes some great throws, but is streaky and has stretches of innaccuracy. He relies too much on his recievers (solid corps) to make adjustments, or to go up and get the ball. If the D can shut Rudi Johnson down, the secondary should be able to cause some turnovers when they get deperate.

No but I can still have NASA switch from space pens to pencils. We can then fit 1.3 Battlestars into the budget.

Bingo, and like I said, I don't point the finger at the workers. I've done contract work for both Japanese and American manufacturers and you'd be amazed at the stuff that goes out the door in the American plant, whereas the same item would either go to rebuild, or would be scrapped in a Japanese plant. -
May I suggest sinking a portion of it into a Roth IRA. All the compounded interest over the life becomes tax free after 55 1/2 or 59 1/2, I forget which. I find it amazing that more people don't take advantage of it. Depending on your age, it could easily be a nice windfall by retirement. Max contribution is $3,000 this year, goes up to 4K next year I believe. There is an income ceiling on who can contribute, for some reason 140K adjusted comes to mind. I have mine through USAA and split my investment between a simple S&P 500 fund and a more agressive small cap fund. Also, if you find yourself strapped for cash, you can take out any money that you invested without penalty. If you touch the earned interest, that's when the gov't bends ya over.

(OT) Dodge wheels could fall off...

I had a buddy who used to be a mechanic at a Ford dealership. He always referred to them as Exploders, because the trannies and transfer cases would go our on so many of them. Funny thing is my brother sells Fords and can get me a great deal, but I don't want to give up my Honda. Tell anyone who says American cars are built just as sound as Japanese cars to look at the gap tolerances for part fit. It has more to do with what the company is comfortable releasing to the market, rather than the quality of worker. -

My girlfriend had an Avenger up until a few years ago. Your right, biggest piece of stojan ever to grace the road. Anything that could have went wrong with that car, did. I also looked at used low mileage Durangos a few years back and found every single one of them had an alignment problem...although the salesmen didn't seem to think it was out of the ordinary. I will never buy a Dodge. -
I'd like to strap that on for size.

Passport required to get into Canada?
Kevbeau replied to KD in CA's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you fly into Canada you DO need a passport or birth certificate to clear immigration. They don't accept Amex as a form of ID. -

LA Stars = Worst team name ever. Sounds like a made up name for a movie (See Any Given Sunday or Last Boy Scout) I can see Jerry Jones having a problem with the name "Stars" -
Sorry to get off topic, but.... Anyone else who has Sirius notice the music channels don't sound as good as an FM station? They tout their clear signal (which it is), but the music coming out of Sirius sounds flat compared to FM and especially CD's. If it makes a difference I have the older Audiovox reciever that has to use an FM transmitter. Also, I have noticed dead spots on the highways here in Atlanta. Reception goes out every time in particular locations. No bridges or overhead obstructions, the signal just kicks out. Not a big deal, it's only for a second...just wondering what might cause it.

Most delivery trucks consist of side opening bays with roll up doors. The floors are slanted slightly inward to keep the load from shifting and pinning or causing stress to the door. While most delivery trucks have double or triple axels, in heavy markets there are some trailers modified to fit the same format. The tragedy in the photo could be consistent with a high speed rollover , but as pointed out the picture appears to be European in nature. They obviously don't value their beer as highly as us and did not take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety. OSHA will be pissed. A true blue collar, clock punching, American (or Canadian) long hauler would never Rosen a beer truck. "It's just a ten speed, that's five speed times two." "I'm not gonna Rosen this....this is a beer truck!"

My favorite American sterotype story involves a friend of mine trying to convince a Brit acquaintance that the "ugly american" stereotype is just that, a stereotype. In the middle of the conversation a group of drunken Texans (complete with cowboy hats) rolls by on a double decker...wish I could have been there. I travel quite a bit around the world for both work and leisure and have never been confronted for being American. I do find that many peope want to talk politics. Most Europeans do not like our governmental policies, but realize that the American people don't always agree with policy. -

Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. -
Every American, at least once, should stand on the memorial, look down on the Arizona and reflect on how blessed they are while the air bubbles and oil droplets rise to the surface. ...then carefully sidestep all the Japanese tourists on your way back to the shuttle.
