  1. Without clicking the link, I can guess it's the Prussian Motorcycle Helmet? Or is it the Moose spunk?
  2. Don't know how folks out there do it. You're looking at 2 bills worth of income to make financial sense at that price. Not completely ridiculous for a dual income HH, but at what point do you run out of possible renters (guessing upper 10% of wage earners, probably higher in Norcal), or are people just strapping themselves?
  3. Does RIT not require co-ops terms anymore?...or what that just for Bachelor's degrees? We hire a bunch of interns from GA Tech (they encourage, don't require co-ops) and in most cases it seems to work well for all parties.
  4. Yeah, the same companies that plan their promotional calendars around SNAP and WIC distributions want to reduce the amount those people have to spend on their products.
  5. That's the quote that stood out to me. Are the "millionaires and billionaires" trying to keep the poor down through food stamps and gov't welfare, or trying to take it away? Which is it? I'd be surprised if you could find one lobbyist who's working to get Food Stamps reduced.
  6. We'll throw in a couple t-shirts & hats for the kids.
  7. Can not be determined with data in hand.
  8. I don't think the comp is that ridiculous considering what he manages and where he's located. Could he have been smarter about his funding choices? Definitely.
  9. A few years ago here (Atlanta) there was a rash of overpass jumpers and idjuts that just climbed over the railing for news attention. As a result, all our bridges have birdcage type fencing to keep people from taking the next step. My first instinct was to say "let 'em jump" but I'll have to agree it's curbed man in flight as well as the highly negative impact it had on millions of commuters. Whether they were industrious to off themselves in another way...unkown.
  10. I know where they can make $10 shoveling snow.
  11. I like how the one girl didn't want her last name published in fear of compromising a job application, but then went on to mention the specifics about her job history which I'm sure are on her resume. For the record...we pay our interns
  12. True...For some reason I keep thinking Tyrone is in Fulton. Either way, the taxes are higher than Coweta.
  13. Surrounding area is typical suburbia. Tyrone and Coweta unincorporated is a little more country. It's grown a lot in the 12 years I lived there...plenty of restaurants and shopping now. Peachtree City is the high end town around here. Highly desirable for families...everything connected by golf cart trails, upper end shops, top schools (for Georgia.) Tyrone is up and coming. Right next to PTC. If you're planning on buying a place, be aware that PTC and Tyrone (Fulton County) will be high property taxes for Georgia (still cheap compared to WNY) Where I lived in Sharpsburg, I was in between all the "major" towns in this area, in a decent school system (Northgate) and you can get a 2000 sq. ft. house on 1.5 acres+ for about 160K. Taxes will be around $1500/yr. Apartment options will be somewhat limited but finding a house to rent shouldn't be an issue. Anything south of Newnan/PTC you're getting out in country...a mixed bag of nice horse farms and trailers. If you go east of PTC, you'll have to commute through it and deal with the traffic lights, so in my mind not worth it. Fayetteville (east of PTC) is nice, but crime rates go up as you get closer to Clayton county. If traffic cooperates you can be in the middle of Atlanta in about a half hour to 40 minutes if need be from all these areas. I live in Chattahoochee Hills now and work in Midtown. Commute is 45min as long as someone doesn't screw it up for the rest of us. If you're single and not concerned about schools, I'd look at Sharpsburg/Newnan are to save money...nothing within walking distance down here. PTC is highly desirable for families, so while you'll pay more to buy/live there, it should return well considering where the market is at. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions or we can speak via phone if you'd like. Sorry for the crappy run on punctuation, but the board won't let me it enter and start a new paragraph.
  14. Also, you looking for nightlife or have a family (schools/suburbs/etc) and where exactly is the office you'll be located in. I had (still have) a house in Sharpsburg which as right up against Tyrone/Peachtree City/Newnan so know the area well.
  15. I'm surprised Cobb Pkwy was easy-peasy as described. It's a major secondary artery and is quite hilly. Usually packed in a normal rush hour, although seems they didn't get to it until this a.m. I was using Google MAps last night and it was basically useless. Most roads were solid red and some roads they showed clear were packed.
  16. I think they said 50. Bought them after the last snafu in 2011. Problem is with all the traffic they can't get through or touch a lot of the roads. Plus you're talking about a city that takes up a lot of square miles. I have a good buddy from college who also lives down here. We both live in what's considered Atlanta Metro. Door to door is 84 miles.
  17. Here's a shot from my office from yesterday. It's Marietta St. Just North of CNN and Congress Center. The every man for himself attitude was definitely in full force. People pulling intersections instead of waiting for the light to cycle. It was taking people an hour just to move down to the next light.
  18. Took me 5.5 hrs to get home last night. I work in Mid-town and live about as far SW in Fulton County as you can get. They basically closed schools and businesses al at the same time and flooded the streets. Highways are skating rinks and couple that with an extreme amount of tractor trailers. Throw in that half the cars in the city either have bald tires, low profiles, are 2WD pickup trucks or big engine rear wheel drive luxury cars. Also Atlanta is a very hilly city and a full 75% of the people that live here are mouthbreathers.
  19. I can get behind that. Bet the guy wrote a check too!
  20. Wait....WWII battles were fought in Africa? And Rommel isn't just the name of my neighbor's Rottweiler?
  21. The 2nd amendment and gun control? To me, it's not about the gun, but about the person holding the gun. Obamacare / healthcare? Should we be able to provide healthcare to all our citizens in some form? Absolutely. But I don't think a complete forced overhaul is the answer. Affect small changes (that add up) first. They'll usually have the quickest impact and you can get a feel for the collateral damage early on. Wholesale implemenation and change usually turns into a giant game of Whack a Mole. You may correct a few moles, but you'll be constantly chasing the little @#$%@#s unwanted offspring. The current tax code and IRS? Simplify and minimize the political lever that it's become. War on drugs / legalization of drugs? Legalize consumption. We already have laws punishing the stupid @#$% people do while consuming. Gay marriage? Don't care. I say go to town and marry whoever you want, so we can move on and pay attention to @#$% that actually may affect whether we fade or prosper as a country. Social security / private social security? I resent being forced to pay into scheme because Joe Citizen can't manage their own affairs and would rather buy a pool table for his dining room than save up a little cash for a rainy day. That's a whole 'nother rant....we've made it too easy to be stupid in this country and as a result we govern to the lowest common denominator. To the gov't..... I'm about halfway through my working career. You can keep what I and my employer have paid into your cracker @ss scheme to date and never pay me a single cent. You just have to stop docking me every paycheck going forward. I'll still come out ahead. Government sanctioned spy programs on US citizens? Eh...from a personal standpoint, I don't have anything I wouldn't want them to know...so spy away if you must, I'm sure there is some good things that come out of it. But this feels like it's a can of worms that will eventually lead us down the road to a bad Tom Cruise Sci-Fi flick. Should congress have to pass a budget, and should it be balanced? 1.) They should be required to pass a budget. 2.) Recognizing it's sometimes necessary/ and beneficial to spend over your budget, I can live with it not being balanced all the time. However this would require a certain degree of diligence to make up the shortfalls that I have little faith in Washington being able to manage. So again, we come back to the denominator. You're not capable of fostering this approach so we need to dumb it down. Balance the damn budget. How big should government be? How important are personal individual freedoms? Should the US have an official religion, give any religion preference, or outlaw any religious element. No. Worship toasters for all I care. I just don't want to hear about it. Should the US have an official language? I agree with the one above posts. No need to make it official, but the accomodation of every other dialect on the planet has gone a little to far. While this somewht dovetails into "my too easy to be stupid" diatribe...it's not necessarily that people in this category are stupid, but it shouldn't be on society/gov't/whatever to make things easier for them. Voter ID laws? Should you have to prove who you are? Who should be eligible to vote? We have to show ID for almost any other transaction...why should voting be different? Every non-incarcerated US citizen should be able to vote....although I think the weight of your voite should be based on the amount of taxes you pay . I can't decide if the concept of each vote being equal is incredibly beautiful or incredibly insane. Political office term limits? Yes please. There's a reason someone will spend millions of dollars to get a job that pays roughly 200K a year. While term limits aren't the end all of correcting the pocket lining issue, it's a start.
  22. Coming from Buffalo, I've always been curious how feelings ran in WWII considering the strong ties many of the European ethnic communities had to their ancestoral countries. I think in any aspect forgiveness is the ultimate goal, but to coin a common phrase "never forget." I do dislike the "we're evil for bombing Japan" crowd. My wife works for a Japanese company so I'm constantly exposed to " the Japanese are nicest people on the planet." I try to point out that she (they) are confusing polite with nice and they should really read more into the histoy of that part of the world especially considering the influence it has/will have on the world we live in.
  23. As someone whos been on the losing end of a "mercy rule," I actually found it more embarassing than finishing out the game.
  24. What I want to know is how the hell he racked up 148 Large at a two year art institute? If I was a bettin' man, I'd wager Mr. DeCastro is financing other things through student loans.
  25. They must have shared some time right? the 107th (albeit a Guard Unit) was still flying E's out of NF when the 18 was well into service. I would expect the 18 to be a superior fighter, but it seems that the split here is on role fill....not which is the more advanced/capable fighter.
