Yes but he only accumulated 5 total sacks the whole year. He’s definitely lost some steps. And that was his first year playing 16 total games in how long? Yes I do think we should pay Williams because he’s younger and is less of a health/injury risk. Watt is not worth the money he wants now. Maybe 6-7 years ago absolutely he’d be worth it but he’s not worth it now. And signing JJ means a player for the short haul. We need a player at that position for the long haul and JJ is not that.

Yes let’s pay 16 million for a vet who at this point will be a rotational player and that’s at the end of his career with a major injury history. That seems really smart, don’t get me wrong I like JJ Watt and once upon a time he was an elite player and if we had the opportunity I would’ve definitely would’ve loved to have seen us go after him. But he’s fading and is not the same player he used to be. At this point Buffalo would be paying a hefty price for a name.

I don’t see how. First off Rodgers would have to take a massive restructuring to his contract, plus Green Bay has always been known to be cheap when it comes to Free Agency, they don’t like to spend money.
-
Green Bay has no cap room at all. No way JJ takes the vet min, yeah he wants to win but he also wants some money as well. Plus there’s too many egos in Green Bay starting with the HC butting heads with Rodgers etc

He’s not getting that lol. He’s got high hopes if he thinks he’s getting 20 million. But Leonard is younger and his injury history isn’t as bad as Watt’s is. But again we’re gonna have to see what happens
-
Just go get Leonard Williams, much cheaper and he’s still young. Paying 15-16 million for an aging veteran who at this point would be a rotational player is completely asinine. I saw him a few times last year and he definitely lost a couple steps. But then again it’s not our money and I trust in Beane

I think we draft Harris unless Miami gets him before us -
But the question is does he still want the 90 percent or is he ok with being in a rotation? I would like to see him here but for him it might come down to pride and what he wants. 15 million a per year says he still wants the 90 % of snaps. And honestly he can’t do that anymore, he can’t stay healthy. And 15 million for a rotation player is way too much, better off drafting someone who’s young and healthy

It is when someone like watt can’t stay healthy and hasn’t played a full season in 3 years https://www.buffalorumblings.com/platform/amp/2021/2/25/22301170/j-j-watt-reportedly-has-an-offer-for-15-million-per-season-per-report I wonder if this was us. I’d think it would be stupid to pay him this kind of money especially when he hasn’t been able to stay healthy for 3-4 years

I’m sure Beane will and probably already has It is when the players do get paid and stop putting forth the effort and disappear. Seen way too many free agents pull this stunt. Carson Wentz to the Colts

This could be either a move that makes Reich a hero or it could ultimately cost him his job in Indy. For right now I’m leaning toward the latter. But if that happens I would think we would welcome him back with open arms lol -
Just like when Arizona overpaid for Philips and just like when the saints overpaid for Byrd. This is one of the reasons I don’t respect the players of today vs the NFL players from back in the day. It’s all about the money now and less about wanting to win and bringing good culture to the locker rooms. Also That’s not an excuse for Philips playing like Crap in Arizona. I’m glad Beane didn’t overpay for him like other on here wanted. Look at his stats for this year vs his last year in Buffalo. It wasn’t him it was the system here that helped him. Take him out of the system and you get the same old Philips from Miami

It’s not weak, we the fans have a right to criticize, I think it’s a selfish move on his part but at the end of it all it’s his choice. But I wouldn’t be surprised given his inconsistencies and injury issues that he becomes another average player with a big contract. I’m sure Beane did his due diligence and offered his camp a deal and I’m sure Milano and his camp didn’t like the deal and wanted to be greedy and ask for more.
