I can't believe I am going to admit this
Johnny Coli replied to Rayzer32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The record doesn't lie. No Charlie Weis and without a strong Defense means we're seeing the real Brady...a slightly better than average QB. Gaudy numbers? Yes. But if you've listened to the droning of the Pats fans over the years all that counts are wins. 4-4 record. They've bashed Maning for 4 years over stats but no wins when it counted. But the injuries! But Dillon is hurt! But-but-but-but!.......4-4. Average. -
I think JP gives us a good chance to win now.
Johnny Coli replied to Fan in San Diego's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Screw the vets. If they don't have the stones to nut up and help out their QB, fug'em. I watched the Jests rally behind freaking Brooks Bollinger and almost steal a win. Chrebet may have even ended his career. Bench Sparky, and get JP in there, and bench every vet that says a word about it. -
Was I wrong to count the Bills out?
Johnny Coli replied to BuckeyeBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jesus. For a second there I thought it was 2004 again. Here we are again, discussing keeping a hack on the field for some delusional playoff run. Who gives a crap about the Pats record? Play Losman, and let the chips fall where they may. If the Bruschi (We're not worthy!)'s collapse and our squad gets in, even better. Then Losman gets some playoff experience. It's doubtfull, because the Pats have four games left with the Jests and the Phelons, but you never know. Mularley should have been prepping him for two weeks to start the KC game, instead of scoreboard watching and letting the Pats record dictate what they do. -
Hey You NE Patsy Troll Chuckleheads!!!

It was a mad dash to get to City Sports to buy NY Giants jerseys. The Shockey and Manning ones are flying off the shelves. Looks like this is a Giants town again. -
the PRICELESS commercial

They had an MLS playoff game there this weekend I think. It looks like they used that as an "excuse" to keep the field crappy to slow the Colts down...otherwise it would have been 60-21 . Priceless.

70, 000+ Pats fans just became Giants fans again as of 12:11AM. There will be a run on Shockey and Manning jerseys today.

Tonight is an historic night!!!
Johnny Coli replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe you are correct, sir. Historic should be preceded by an "an". As for the other subject of this thread, I hope he dies. EDIT: From Guide to Grammar -
I'll continue with this saga... To re-cap: I draft McCallister with my first round pick...gets hurt, out for season. I pick up Willie Green and Jerome Bettis...Green out for season, Bettis gets hurt. I pick up Green's backup, Tony Fisher....Fisher cracks rib, out for a couple weeks. I think I've solved it, now I have Chester Taylor, Cedric Benson, and I've had Stephen Davis all year (one big hit away from going down...yeah boy-eee). I was thinking of picking up the new Green Bay RB, Gado or Gabbo or something, just so that he could also get injured and keep the comedy going for GB, but I don't even see the guy listed on Yahoo yet. If anyone wants me to draft, and therefore cripple a running back, let me know. If it is in my power to do so, it will get done.

It's like the scene in Trading Places on the Stock Exchange floor. SELL!! FOR GOD'S SAKES, SELL!!!!

That sound you just heard was the mad fantasy football rush to drop Owens and pick up Reggie Brown. I got him already. You know who you are

After watching that game last Sunday night, what makes you think the league will allow the Pats to lose this game? I said it last friday, and I'll say it again. The Pats will win this game on two very questionable calls late in the game, and Tony Dungy will be fined for comments after the game. Both these teams are most likely going to win their divisions, and the NFL needs the drama of Manning playing his nemesis Belicheck in the playoffs. They need the evil genius to beat Manning again to set up a showdown in January. I hope I am wrong, but deep down, I know the Pats will win this game on a home-job at the expense of the Colts, just so the NFL can milk this matchup again.

Agreed. I couldn't find a direct "QB-under-pressure" stat (I didn't look that hard, though) that would define/filter out a good "pass protection" vs. "run blocking" O-line. It has been said that pass protection is harder than run blocking, but the only direct stat that I could think of to measure that quickly was sacks, and Philly ranked 13th having given up 17 sacks. You would need an "average time allowed to throw" stat really. My "average time to find this info" stat is pretty low.
-
They only use Captains and anybody with a lower rank. Majors and higher get the day off to play horseshoes.
-
Using a similar scheme from a post in the O-line thread, and looking at Rushing Def total yards/game, Rush Def avg yards/attempt, Sacks, Rushing 1st downs allowed, and giving each team that comes in in the top ten a point, it shakes out as follows: Pitt (score of 4; record 6-2) Chicago (score of 4; record 5-3) SD (score of 4; record 5-4) Seattle (score of 3; record 6-2) Ten teams with a score of 2, with Indy (record 7-0) having third most sacks in the NFL. There are, of course, other indirect intangibles such as the ability to pressure the QB that could probably be looked at using completion pct, but many of those would be skewed based on the quality of the secondary, defending with the lead, etc. If pressed, based on stats alone, I would say those four teams plus Indy (based on sacks) appear to be the five best.
-
If you look strictly at stats (NFL.com), and use the categories of Rush yards/game, Total Rushing Attempts, Rush avg/attempt, and Sacks allowed, looking at the top ten teams in each of those four categories, and giving them a point for each category they score in the top ten in: Denver (score of 4; record 6-2) SD (score of 4; record 5-4) Atl (score of 3; record 6-2) Pitt (score of 3; record 6-2) NYG (score of 3; record 6-2) KC (score of 3; record 5-3) Denver scored in the top 5 in three of the four categories, and 6th in the fourth. San Diego was only in the top five once in those categories (attempts), and it could be said that LT would make any line look good. Atlanta’s ranking could clearly be the product of Michael Vick. Taken all together, statistically, Denver has the best o-line in the NFL when examining how much they run, how effective they are with the running game, and how well they protect the QB. Incidently, the top five teams statistically ranked against the run, using rushing yard against/game are: Carolina TB SD Pitt Denver It could be implied from this, that a team that has the mindset that it requires a good O-line to win also requires a good rushing defense, and therefore a better-than-average D-line.

The gummi Venus de Milo. A thing of beauty.

Saturdays of Thunder...The soapbox derby episode. Flaming Moes....Might have been the funniest, cleverest half hour of TV I've ever seen. It's a tough call, because the Homer in Space ep is also brilliant. Quite frankly, the Simpsons may go down as the best sitcom of all time.

Heroic Bills fight back to 2nd place

Dick Vermiel has a set, don't he? Ballsy. -
Kelly may not be the answer
Johnny Coli replied to buffalobillsfootball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And we should give a crap about your "insight" why? Because your a Pats fan...the greatest , most knowledgable fans in the game? It figures you're scouting Eli Manning so closely. Your team is about to spiral into the crapper, so you're latching quickly on to the Giants...you know, the team you rooted for 15 years ago. Time to get those dusty Giants pennants out of your garage. When do you think it's safe for you to put them up? -

They're rallying behind a young, inexperienced QB. What a shocker. -
I worked in restaurants/hotels. You want to know how many american kids applied for some of those jobs? I worked 10 years...you could count them on a single hand. And the ones that already were working sucked.

The fact that this game seems so one-sided should set off alarms in all your heads. After having seen what the league did last sunday night, do any of you for one second think the Colts win this game? Seriously. A nationally televised game, played in The Tampon, with all that money riding on the Colts? Jesus. 38-10 Pats, and Tony Dungy will get fined by the league after comments he will make about the officiating in this game.

What's a poor xeno/homo-phobe to do!?!?! French Canadians from the north...Mexicans from the south...homosexuals from within...commies running wild in the streets. Idaho's gonna get pretty crowded.

The NE fans make it "hell" in the sports sense. Other than that, I love Boston. Can't think of another town I'd like to live in, other than San Fran or Seattle, maybe Portland Maine. See ya 'round, Big Boy 27. (Where's that emoticon that's blowing a kiss..."
