There are very few people in the media I dislike more than Smerlas (Bill Simmons comes to mind). Anyone within earshot of WEEI in Boston has had to put up with Smerlas Mondays and Fridays during the NFL season for many years. Over that time I've never heard anything good come out of his mouth regarding the Bills, and if anyone thinks he has anything but contempt for the Bills and WNY you are kidding yourselves. He is a Boston College grad and a Flutie stooge. He goes out of his way to denigrate the Bills every chance he gets. He's an embarrasment and a tool.

The gall. An 8% raise over three years and terrorism training? I'm outraged!

This JP injury smacks of a HC who is fighting
Johnny Coli replied to nodnarb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can I ask what it is that you've seen that would make this happen? Other than script the first 15 offensive plays, what has Mularkey shown you that would suggest he can "turn it up a notch" now that the noose is around his neck? Also, other than Fletcher, Evans, Reed, Losman, who on this team is going to play hard? Moulds, now that his buddy is lining up over the center? I don't see it. I think you're going to see Mularkey running around like an idiot trying to fire up the team, and the response will be a lot of shrugged shoulders and blank stares. I know I'll be laughing. -

This is crap. Here we go with the "he's injury-prone" and "quitter" posts. !@#$ this. -

How is JP a quitter? This reeks of TD and MM trying to save their jobs. -
Absolutely. Thus the brilliant part. But it's gotten old. I'm interested to see how he pulls off a role where he's not a fat loser with rock-star dreams. It's like watching myself up there.

Why the Bills should go for Reggie Bush.....
Johnny Coli replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I completely agree. I was responding to the original posters premise that the new GM/HC need to get a big name draft pick in here to placate the surley Bills fans. I don't think that's the case as the majority of Bills fans aren't that stupid (well....) and will see it for the PR move it is. A good, sensible draft, and an intelligent aqusition of veteran FAs will do the same thing. -
Why the Bills should go for Reggie Bush.....
Johnny Coli replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What will excite the fans is the removal of TD and MM. I think most fans would be pretty unhappy with the new Bills braintrust moving UP in the draft when most know there are far too many holes that can be filled by moving DOWN in the draft and getting extra picks. Winning sells tickets, too, and if the fans feel that the new braintrust knows what it's doing, they will fill the seats. Trying to hit a homerun by drafting Bush would seem like a desperation PR move. The Pats trade down all the time, stockpile draft picks for the current draft, and future drafts, and never draft for PR. Every freaking year I see the Pats have what seems like 4 or 5 extra picks that they picked up by trading during the previous draft. They draft to fill holes, and needs, and depth, and they are always picking late in the rounds. I liked your well-thought-out post, but I would prefer to see the new GM and coach make well-though-out picks, not "merchandise" picks. -
What about the Moonies?

Jack Black's schtick has gone from brilliant to cartoon pretty quick for me. Looking forward to a Pagan-day viewing of this, though, despite the inclusion of the short fat no-longer-funny one. Roar.

Meanest girl in the world?
Johnny Coli replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Speaking of retards… I see my second-favorite band of all time, The Reatards, have a “new” CD out (Empty Records link). This was apparently recorded six years ago right before they split up, and Jay Reatard went on to do The Lost Sounds. Well, TLS has disbanded (weird, because they just did an in-store performance at a record store here in the spring…oh well) and that’s great news for Reatards fans ‘cause they’re touring. This is real punk rock…not that crap that the corporate weasels want you to listen to. Most of you will hate this stuff, and that’s good because those of us that do like it don’t want you anywhere near it, or us. As soon as you like, I’ll have to hate it, and I need The Reatards in my life. So stay the hell away. Hopping on over to Italy, it’s good to see The Retard-ed (hyphen added to get around the "Dawgged" filter, also prevents me from adding a direct link )(record lable link; scroll down to link to band) are still around. Ramones fans will dig this band. I was turned on to them when I bought their “Judy wants to be my Girl” 7” that I found at a record store over here. I’d never heard a note, but loved the name and I always check out European punk bands. I was blown away, and so will you (you know who you are). The rest of you can go to hell. -
what's the deal with JP's injury??
Johnny Coli replied to Corp000085's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Losman's been the only reason I've been excited to watch the games. I think he's shown improvement in almost every game except the last one, but what the hell do I know? I wear the kid's jersey with pride. -
Fascinating anecdote, Dean.

Vick's Injury on Monday Night Football

So what you're saying is Don Shula has put a bounty on Manning's head, to be paid to any Chargers, Seahawks or Cards player that knocks Peyton out for the remainder of the season, thus preserving the record. Has that man no shame? Damn you Don Shula. Damn you. -
Lack of roll outs for JP...I don't get it!
Johnny Coli replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was an article here in beantown last week (I can't find the link) saying that one of the things the Pats were worried about (other than cramping up from laughing so hard during analyzing game film of the Bills) was Losman's scrambling ability. The Bills have this kid who can run, yet don't use him, and the Pats have Brady, who limped straight into the endzone from 10 yards out. It boggles the mind. -

Rosenhaus. Thanks for participating in the Buffalo Bills award winning sports injury rehabilitation program, Willis. Good luck with the rest of your carreer. -
Winning is a pretty good promotion. In all seriousness, how hard is it really to promote an NFL team? There's zero competition in the Buffalo area. You only have to contend with one other major sport. Why is TD considered so freaking valuable in this area of business?

Excellent post. I have also worked with developmentally disabled adults. I found working with them to be very rewarding, and yes, sometimes incredibally frustrating. The fact is they often do and say hilarious things, just like anyone else you would work with, yet they do it with a certain level of naivete that has its own charm. I have no problem with people writing about some of these anecdotes. I know I have. I feel it reinforces that these are real people, who aren't just defined by their disabilities, but real members of society that have just as many abilities and faults as anyone else. What I do have a problem with is sensless cruelty. In the case of this girl, she exploited a real person's tragedy for a presumed cheap laugh. To me that is inexcusable. Linking to another person's account, a close family member writing about their personal loss, is about as heartless and gutless as you can get. -
I agree. Why wait? Most GMs are evaluating talent now for the dradft and next year's offseason moves. TD is as good as gone, so why delay the inevitable? Remove him now so he can have his dream job of ESPN analyst, and start the GM search before everyone else.

If MM does go I would like to see
Johnny Coli replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm gonna throw this out there, with the caveat that I'm not up on the list of "hot" coordinators. Why not Sam Wyche? He's already here, is already familiar with the personnel that's here, and he's done it before. If you're going to hire a retread, why not use Sam Wyche to at least get things going in a positive direction?
