Well, you aren't a GOPUSA plant posing as a reporter, or a CEO of a major energy corporation. It's who you know. -

And I thought all the misogynistic pigs had already been beaten down in this thread. I'll let you pick your knuckles up off the ground and dig through it youself to find the info on what an emergency contraceptive is, and why it has nothing to do with abortion or ending pregnancy. I'll give you a hint...it has nothing to do with either. -
The tone of his piece suggests he was going to NYC expecting to find predjudism against muslims. Had he done any research at all, he wouldn't have had to make the trip. EDIT: He could have asked the Republican Senator from Montana, Conrad Burns about arab predjudice: Burns' office may have tampered with Wikipedia entry

Here is a list of the proposed cuts and how much the savings are. Programs Bush Wants to Cut or Kill The "education" president left no child behind in his proposed cuts. Forty seven (43 to terminate and 4 to reduce) education related programs to be affected (Total Education effect: $3.4 billion), out of the 141 total programs he wants to eliminate/reduce. Guess how many energy programs get axed/reduced? Go on, guess. Six (3 to terminate, 3 to reduce) for a savings of $1 billion.

Absolutely. Which begs the question: Why on earth was he looking for predjudice in the most tolerant city on the planet? He could have gone to any number of other cities that had issues with muslims after 9-11.

That’s all you’ve got? Trotting out the same talking points now from how long ago? They have about as much relevance to this topic as the Reagan Iran-Contra scandal, or the Nixon Watergate tapes. I’m not going to apologize for Robert Byrd’s past, as many on this board know how I feel about racism. That being said, he hasn't been a member of the KKK since 1943, and the NAACP gave him a 100% rating (NAACP report card, see pg 16). To my knowledge Byrd has committed no crimes in the 50+ years he's been in the Senate or the House. I’m not going to apologize for Ted Kennedy, either. He has to live with what happened, whatever it was that did happen in 1969. He pled guilty and received a suspended sentence. Would that have happened in this day and age, probably not. He pled guilty, he’s had to deal with it dogging him for 40 years, and it probably ultimately cost him the presidency. Old, old news. Since then he’s been one of the most productive, influential, and well-respected senators in the history of American politics. I am proud that he represents my state. You’re bring up Patrick Leahy? From way back in 1987? He leaked info to a reporter about the Iran-Contra scandal, and resigned from the committee. Was he ever indicted? That is a resounding “no”, unlike Scooter Libby, who is actually being indicted for outing a CIA operative (Yup, she still had covert status, Scooter), and may end up implicating the VP for leaking classified material to the press (Will Scooter Libby Graymail the CIA? and Libby Testified He Was Told To Leak Data About Iraq). You’re right. Why am I spending any time on cronyism and corruption around a GOP party hack like Tom Delay, when I could be posting about cronyism (Recess Appointments Reek of Cronyism) and intelligence leaks from the current administration? -
From Jeff Huber's blog via ePlauribus Media... Neo-connecting the Dots: Delay, Deny, Derail the Investigations ...regarding Tom Delay's recent Appropriation's Committee appointment. Holy Smokes! If you're going to get stripped of a party leadership roll and indicted in your home state, the GOP is the gang to be in. It almost makes me nostalgic for Newt Gingrich. Quick, someone tell me that the "dummycrats" are just as corrupt.

Because this administration always looks far and wide for the most qualified people... Only the best of the best Whatever, right? ICE only has 15,000 workers and a $4 billion dollar budget. It's just Immigration and Customs, what could go wrong? Who does the hiring for the State Department, again? -

Because everyone walking into an Action Boston Community Development office is there for an abortion, right? They'll be pretty disappointed, though, because ABCD doesn't perform abortions. About ABCD, the gateway to hell! Sounds insidious, doesn't it? Here's a list of the other horrible programs they inflict on the unwitting community: ABCD is pure evil! Here's the info on their Family Planning program, one of the many fiendish health services ABCD has for low income families. ABCD Health Programs will send you to hell! Why were these idiots picketing a community development center? Perhaps they can't read the easily found information about ABCD on the web, or in advertisements on the subway in Boston/Cambridge, or in the thousands of posted fliers around? Perhaps they could benefit from a few of ABCD's programs themselves...when they get bored of scaring poor women and children. -

Any "lefty" physically harming anyone at a political event should be prosecuted for their actions. The free speech issue with regard to clinics has been tackled by the courts already, Joe. You asked about my opinion, and I gave it to you. The courts seem to agree with my opinion. If the people who support this administration feel that they are being impeded in any way by vocal protest at a public poltical rally, then by all means they should file suit. They certainly have the numbers on the Supreme court now. -

Find that post. I was never part of that debate. However, in my opinon there is a distictive difference between vocal protest at a public political event and obstructing the entrance to a healthcare facility. The buffer zones are in place for individual protection and access to the facility. Don't those people wishing to use the facility have a right to unimpeded access? Apparently several courts at many levels agree that they do. -

I definately support the First Amendment right to peacefull free speech. Anti-choice protesters can picket all they want, provided they do not become confrontational, do not physically block access to the clinic, and do not approach anyone who wishes to enter the clinic. An excellent example is the new Pittsburgh ordinance placing a 15 foot buffer zone, and an eight foot personal bubble zone. Once again, the ill-informed Right attempts to form an argument devoid of fact. Plan B prevents pregnancy. It does not end an already established pregnancy. Mayo Clinic Are you aware that Planned Parenthood clinics also provide such hideous procedures such as breast exams, cervical exams, STD testing, and one right up your alley, vasectomies? Of course you didn't, because the Right neglects to show that these clinics are not the "abortion factories" they make them out to be, but are in fact valuable healthcare facilities to the community. The signs that anti-choice protesters display while harrassing clinics are not for informative purposes, but are instead extremely misleading for one reason only; shock value. They typically show late-term abortions which are extremely rare, and almost always performed to save the life of the woman. emedicine link But, this argument isn't about pro-choice or abortion, even though the Right would like to frame it as such. It is about having easy access to an emergency medication. -

Great post, Ramius. Add to that that of the ten penalties called in that game, seven were called against Seattle for a net loss of something around 160 yards. Seattle was tied for the second least penalized team in the regular season. -

There is no list because you would have to debate the merits of every drug a pharmacy carries. This regulation ensures that all pharmacies in Mass carry the medications that the citizens, or community, of Mass wants/needs. Every other pharmacy in Mass carries this medication. Therefore Walmart should as well. If every other pharmacy in Mass carries this medication, then a citizen of Mass would have a reasonable expectation that a Walmart pharmacy in Mass should too. A woman who does not want to report a rape will not go to a hospital. There are more pharmacies than Planned Parenthood clinics. If a woman does not want to report a rape, and does not have easy access to a clinic, she should still be able to go to a pharmacy and get the emergency contraceptive. In many cases, the only pharmacy in town is a Walmart. Walmart should then be debating whether-or-not a pharmacy is a retail store or a healthcare provider to the community. In my opinion, and it is just my opinion, a pharmacy is a healthcare provider and not a retail store. -

Classic hypocrisy from the right. Let them go to the Planned Parenthood clinics...the same clinics the religious right has been protesting at regularly for years...the same clinics that those on the religious right have been trying to close down for years. Are you personally going to escort her through the mob of fanatics waving their fetus signs? -

Plan B is an emergency contraceptive in that it has an 89% effective rate of preventing pregnancy if taken within 72 hours. The rest of your post takes the archaic position that it's all the women's fault. We have a hard enough time getting rape and domestic violence victims to come forward. You would place a burden on the brave few who do by forcing them to hunt down their own medication. In many communities, Wal-Mart may be the only pharmacy around. But that's not our problem, right? It serves the little hussy right, eh? -

Huge conflict of interest issue. There is nothing to stop a doctor from diagnosing conditions the patient doesn't really have and prescribing medications that he is then selling directly to the patient. It would ultimately make healthcare even more unaffordable for those who do not have many choices in who gives them care, especially when their caregiver is more interested in being a retailer. That would require even more government oversite than you are already willing to give the pharmacy. -

Nope, you are wrong with regards to Massachusetts. I linked to the regulation in a previous post. Pharmacies ''shall maintain on the premises at all times a sufficient variety and supply of medicinal chemicals and preparations which are necessary to compound and dispense commonly prescribed medications in accordance with the usual needs of the community." You may not like that doctors are commonly prescribing it. Wal-Mart may not like that doctors are prescribing it. But they are being prescribed and they are being stocked by every other pharmacy in Mass. As of last year, a new legislative law in Mass requires all hospitals to provide the morning-after pill, and allows pharmacists to dispense it without a prescription. Stateline.org With regards to that bastion of morality, Walmart, I wonder if their self-imposed ban is restricted to all contraceptives, such as birth control pills, or only those that don't fit their lofty standards. Seems kind of "grey", don't it? -

I was listening to the local sports station here in Beantown on my way into work this morning. A guy called in (Pats fan) and said that while the offciating was bad in this game, it was nothing compared to the way the Pats got robbed by the officials in the Denver game. I came very close to driving my car into a tree. Typical Pats fan...still complaining about the officiating in a game where his team had 5 turnovers. Maybe he was complaining that they usually get all the calls. I hate this town.

WORST CALL THAT WENT AGAINST SEATTLE?
Johnny Coli replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great work, Lori. While perusing the Chiefs' link you provided, I came across a post that linked to this ESPN article:Dec 4, 2005 link That pretty much does it for me. This game was a bag-job from the minute Seattle and Pitt won their conference title games. Anyone who doesn't think so clearly wasn't watching that game, or is a Steeler fan. -
I don't know how anybody could have objectively watched this game and not come to the conclusion that there was blatant favoritism going on. Calling back the 'Hawks TD on a bogus offensive PI call, the Rothlisberger TD that never crossed the goal line, the phantom holding call, numerous non-calls on the Steelers...this was a bag job from the opening kickoff. Every single instance where it looked like Seattle was getting momentum was squashed by the refs. I don't see it any other way. The media won't say anything because they've been hyping the Bettis thing for two weeks. This thing smells...smells pretty bad. Tagliabu should be embarrased.
