  1. It's the Geico of lagers. You'll save well over $500 by switching to PBR.
  2. It won an award in 1893...and that's good enough for me.
  3. This may come as no shock to anyone, but I will never root for the Pats.
  4. Fox sports' draft grade USA today CBS Sporting News MSNBC SI: Dr. Z
  5. That Subway guy is really starting to pack the pounds back on.
  6. In a perfect world (ie one in which everyone I want to get injured, gets injured) Culpepper's career will end roughly three hours from now.
  7. Right before any of my drafts, I cross any and all players from the Dolphins and the Pats off my list. I can not in good conscious root for a career-ending, crippling injury to Tom Brady, and still have him on any of my fantasy teams. The same can now be said of Culpepper. Start McNair.
  8. Ditto. I hate the Patriots, and by extension I must also hate ND.
  9. Yes, cooking it thoroughly will kill the bacteria, but the FDA is suggesting that you just get rid of it. That's probably the best suggestion, because you really don't know how people are going to use it. The people that steam, boil or saute' it will most likely be fine. But if you use it in a stuffing, etc, it might not get up to a temp that would be sufficient. Just throw it out. Also, you don't want it around other food items, as most people would keep this in the fridge crisper with other fruits/veggies that won't get cooked.
  10. I hate the Pats...including the organization, the players, the coach, the "fans", the stadium, the parking lots, the idiotic "Yankees suck" chants at the games, and the stupid Brady jersey that the MSPCA sells for dogs. To live in NE is to hate everything Patriots, and to not be ashamed to admit that you wanted Bruschi to drop freaking dead right on the damn fifty yard line.
  11. I'm assuming the Bills are a given. 1. My wife (a big happy b-day shout out to Joanie Coli, btw) 2. cheap beer 3. My guitars/amps
  12. You are correct. Studies using contaminated water to irrigate lettuce, followed by leaf surface sterilization, have shown that the lettuce remains contaminated. In that case, washing has no effect.
  13. E.coli outbreak possibly linked to bagged spinach, as per MSNBC. E. coli outbreak in 8 states tied to fresh spinach Not sure if everyone does this, but just because salad mixes, spinach, and bean sprouts come in a bag doesn't mean that they've been cleaned, and should be thoroughly washed. Most of this stuff is processed and bagged, and may not ever get a rinsed. Bean sprouts can be particularly nasty. So, if you have to eat this stuff (I'm not a big fan of veggies anyway), and you don't want to get a bout of diarrhea, cramps, bloody stool and/or worse, give 'em a good rinse. And while you're at it, always wash your damn hands.
  14. This is 2006, man. You have to make her the pitcher of the girls' softball team who ends up being the QB, against all odds. In the big game, the O-lineman who has been given her so much grief, makes a significant block at just the right time during a broken play, and she scrambles into the EZ for the game winner. Then they go to the prom, date, and get married in the sequel.
  15. Then you'll have to go with a handicapped equipment manager.
  16. Outstanding! All you need is a couple lovable losers, a fat kid, and one or two "foreign" kids that don't speak a word of english and you've got a great movie.
  17. Good for your son and his teammates. That's pretty cool. I went to Shenendehowa in the mid-80s, and our JV team hadn't lost a game for something like five years. They got beat my junior or senior year, and the coach (I believe his name was Skinner) cried. Did the other coach cry? It kind of makes it all worthwhile to see a grown man reduced to tears.
  18. Minor thread hijack: Did you catch "Waterloo Road"? Wow. Another great series that would probably get ruined by US TV writers. It's not back on again until spring 2007. Totally worth checking out the 8-ep series if it's on reruns. End of minor thread hijack.
  19. Life on Mars (BBC America) sort of fits your premise, but not entirely. A detective in 2006 is trying to solve a murder/dissappearence case, gets hit by a car (Bowie's "Life on Mars" is the song playing on his car radio when he get's hit) and he wakes up in 1973. Now he's a detective in 1973, trying to use 2006 techniques to solve crimes, all the while trying to figure out whether he's really back in 1973, or in a coma. He can hear his 2006 mother and 2006 doctors talking through his TV, etc, discussing whether they should pull the plug on him. Very, very cool show, which is apparently getting developed by David Kelly for a US adaptation, meaning the US version will suck a$$ compared to the Brit version. Like I said, not entirely the same as hopping from time-to-time, but it fits some of your criteria. Great soundtrack, too. Plenty of Hawkwind, T.Rex, etc.
  20. Jesus. That's a great pic, man. The caption should read "Probably a very little bit of hometown calls."
