This is not what being a Bills fan is about

Living in Boston, the first thought that popped into my mind was that his wife probably started it. Those Southy broads are tough. -
John Kerry is an idiot!
Johnny Coli replied to HereComesTheReignAgain's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You have for roughly seven pages now, even though most of the posters, myself included, have all stated that Kerry is an idiot and we're glad he submarined his chances in '08 and he's not going anywhere near any of the current campaigns. You keep fighting your personal war, though. -
Kerry's Gaff Won't Matter Nov 7
Johnny Coli replied to true_blue_bill's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Nationwide polls don't mean squat, though. The guy that hates Bush in NY isn't voting in the Allen/Webb dust-up in VA. Yes, across the country people are rejecting Bush on a Nixonian scale, but we won't know how that will affect the individual races until they're tallied up on Tuesday. Remain cautiously optimistic, but don't be the least bit shocked if we end up with the status quo. Much like the NE Pats, until the Dems beat the GOP there's no reason to pop open the champagne six days early. -

You're dancing around the bigotree using children as your human shield and trying to quantify "goodness," and you're skeptical of the studies I might link to? Let's examine this little nugget from your post above, shall we? "Confined by too much estrogen"? Sounds like you've got some overbearing mother issues, Kurt. Exactly where did you grow up where if your father left you'd only be interacting with women? Paradise Island? Ask a child from a single family if they'd rather have two loving parents or if they're afraid too many estrogen or testosterone hormones would "confine" them. You can figure out how to explain what hormones are to them using your "daddy" and "mommy" props. Which doll did you reach for first? Here's a study by the American Psychological Association. Here's an LA Times article from two days ago discussing this topic. It mentions several medical associations and their studies, but we know they're all quacks, eh buddy? (BTW, that's not a wink suggesting I'm coming on to you.) Clearly the insidious gay cabal has threatened all of these medical associations and all of their members. How will we ever stop their gay agenda? -

The GOP has more money and a better GOTV ground game. They also only have to defend a few key races. The Dems have to win a lot more seats than the GOP has to lose. Just because someone says they're going to vote on the phone or when someone comes to their door doesn't mean they will. I think it's been an outstanding job done by the DNC to make itself competitive in freaking Idaho, Wyoming and Texas, but until I see it with my own eyes on Wednesday morning, I'll remain pessimistic. -

Had to quote Drudge, or I might look partisan. There is a pretty strong chance that the Dems won't gain a majority in either house next Tuesday, but it won't have anything to do with Kerry. I am quite glad that this incident will probably eliminate him from the '08 pool, though. -

You will find no post of mine apologizing for Kerry's initial remarks. But, an apology was asked for, and an apology was given. But that's really not what this was all about for the GOP, was it. -

John Kerry is an idiot!
Johnny Coli replied to HereComesTheReignAgain's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Most people will never read past the headline "John Kerry Apologized to the troops." Up now on all the sites: Drudge: "KERRY ISSUES APOLOGY TO TROOPS" CNN: "Kerry: I personally apologize" NBC: "Regret, John Kerry apologizes to any troops he offended" Fox news has this: "Kerry Apologizes to Troops For 'My Poorly Stated Joke'" next to an insert of a black man over a hotel fire, and next to the video of our "commander in chief"discussing North Korea with Hannity and Colmbs, which should be a hoot (gonna have to click on that one later). Many aren't even quoting the whole thing, and Joe Independent Voter sees that an apology was issued. So, when George Allen in VA says "John Kerry insulted our troops", JIV asks "But didn't he just apologize for that?", and Allen will rant about the apology not being "sincere" enough or "quick" enough. Yup, that'll swing JIV over to the Red. EDIT: Just for schitz and giggles, I looked at the comments to the Kerry story posted by people who actually use Fox as a news site. Seems like most understood it was a poor attempt at humor that backfired, regardless of their feelings about JK. What rubes, huh? -

I've got news for you, VA...they didn't really want him on the trail before he opened his mouth on Monday. This is actually a benefit. Also, since you bring up Foley, I seem to remember a few campaign cancellations for "Coach" Hastert. -

Right. Here's your acceptable apology: "I'm sorry for what I said. I was trying to make a different point, chose the wrong words, and ended up saying something offensive and incorrect." Here's what he said: "I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member or American who was offended." Some might call your outrage a bit nit-picky. I'll just call it petty. -

Johnny Coli replied to HereComesTheReignAgain's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Keep beatin' that dead horse, SnR. The outrage in this thread is primarily coming from people who wouldn't be voting for any Dem anywhere, no matter what Kerry said. I suspect the majority of Americans will see this as a brainfart moment that Kerry let get out of hand, but that he apologized for, within 72 hours, when asked to by members of both parties. He apologized. Any continued noise on this from the GOP will not detract from any of the issues that the independent voters were concerned about to begin with. Kerry is not on the ballot in any state, county, or town anywhere in the US. Anybody swayed by this wasn't voting "blue" to begin with. -

Johnny Coli replied to HereComesTheReignAgain's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You've got to be kidding me. So that's the angle, now? When was the last time any politician apologized for anything without some amount of outside persuasion? Actually, I really hope the GOP runs with something that patently hypocritical. -
John Kerry is an idiot!
Johnny Coli replied to HereComesTheReignAgain's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't know. I mean, are we now going to get calls from the GOP saying that the apology they asked for isn't enough? "I personally apologize to any service member, family member or American who was offended." They can try and make this election about John Kerry, but they asked for the apology, and they got one. It's a lot more than we've gotten out of Bush for the war, or Cheney for shooting a guy in the face. -

Johnny Coli replied to HereComesTheReignAgain's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
He just apologized. MSNBC link There's no transcript up, but if you watch the video linked in the article they have the transcript up of what he said. Screw it. I'll write it out: "I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member or American who was offended." -

How is the "family unit" getting fundamentally changed? I think just about everybody can agree that two loving parents are better than just a single parent. Does the math fundamentally change when the parents are same-sex? Ah, the "slippery slope" argument. This, of course, is dependent on the idea that gay people are all sex-crazy hedonsists jumping at the chance to have sex with anything that moves, species-be-damned. They certainly can't be trusted to form monogomous, committed, loving relationships like straight people can. Do you even know any gay people? If you did, you'd find the same ratio of deviants in the gay community as that of the straight community. If you actually spoke with a gay person, you'd also find that they frown upon the very same practices that the majority of straight people do...well, those that aren't homophobes. We've had gay marriage in Mass for over two years now. The people who are against it are dwindling in numbers because, surprise, nothing's changed. I'm married, and plan on having several children in the next few years. I hope that when they see two gay men or gay women walking down the street with their own children that they see a family, and not look at them as a "social experiment" like you do. -
What's up with Zogby polling?
Johnny Coli replied to Just Jack's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
No Zogby poll should ever be looked at with anything other than skepticism. -
Yeah, I can read, troll. His point was that there are certain points in a game where it could be turned around. Your post was that it didn't matter because your team-of-the-moment could score at will on the hapless Vikes. This being a thread about how your squad benefits from those calls usually at the critical points in a game he is referring to, one could very well assume that your point also alludes to the penalties that seem to always favor your squad.
-
What the fug kind of rationale is that? The Pats were the better team so the fact that they get consistantly massaged by the refs doesn't matter? Who gives a crap if the Vikes wouldn't have won regardless of the poor officiating in the Pats' favor? That's not the point of the thread. The point was/is, the number of calls going the Pats way at critical points in the game is observably skewed in their favor over the past several years. By your logic, there shouldn't be any referrees at all in these games because of the vast superiority of Tom Brady and your squad of HOF'ers. What a joke.

Goodness? Care to point to the study showing that heterosexual parents have a greater degree of "goodness" than homosexual parents? These debates are laughable. Real, actual studies have shown that there isn't any difference. Let's not cloud the issue with fake studies based on unquantifiable factors and moral biases. Let's just call it what it is...bigotry and homophobia. Don't use your faux concern for "the children" as a human shield for your hatred. Your bigotry-ness is showing. -
Living in beantown, I'm subjected to their games every week. Their fans will of course call anyone else biased, but you can count on two-to-three plays a game going their way with zebra intervention. You can almost call it ahead of time...the other team is down a TD or less in the 4thQ and driving: offensive holding puts them in an unmanagable 3rd and long. Pats need that 3rd and long that seals the game or gets them within fieldgoal range: PI call or defensive holding. When was the last time you saw a reviewed play go against them? Yeah, I'm pretty up front about my hatred for all things Pats, but when every other fan of any other team in the league says the same thing...well, we can't all be wrong or biased.

Liberals Attacking Marriage Again
Johnny Coli replied to catchescannonballs's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
No they can't. The court ruled that same-sex couples are entitled to the same rights and privileges that married heterosexual couples already enjoy. It is up to the legislature of NJ to decide whether they want to call it a marriage or a civil union. If you're going to gay-bait, at least get the facts "straight."
