Patriots release statement on Walsh
Johnny Coli replied to Willis990's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd just like to refute some common misconceptions about this whole controversy, as they keep getting trotted out as fact by even the people who aren't defending the Asterisks. Based on what I've read about him, he's overstated his responsibility at times and definitely could've seen this as an opportunity to win points with the staff. Actually, all of this nonsense about Walsh being a person who embellishes his resume is stuff written by a Boston Globe flunky who's "investigative story" reads like a "What not to do" in writing an investigative news story. Furthermore, most of the Asterisk's spin stuff has been mindlessly regurgitated by a guy, Mike Reiss, who writes a blog for the Boston Globe, the only reporter for any media outlet who has had unfettered and exclusive access to the Asterisks. From Krafty Bob's mouth right to the internets. Don't for a second think that this guy is asking the tough questions, or even following up the softball questions. He sits on the tapes and comes forward to have his revenge when reporters start calling. Except he worked for the team for an entire calendar year after the fact, and hasn't made a peep about any of this for going on five years, and only when tracked down in Hawaii by reporters. Let me remind people, Matt Walsh is not the person in the wrong here. The P*ts cheated. Let's say that again because it's pretty relevent despite what the jock sniffers and toe suckers that hang around Krafty Bob's back door waiting for table scraps would have you believe. The P*ts cheated. Not only that, they were massively fined, lost a draft pick (the wrong one IMO) and the coach was massively fined. They also stood in the way for months now trying to squash what Matt Walsh has. One has to ask why they would go to those legal lengths, why they would plant erroneous stories about the guy, why they would shut out everyone in the media except for their trained parrot. I think we all know the answer to that. We also all know that just like the tapes from last fall that no one saw, anything Walsh has will be summarily destroyed by the league. What has the league got to lose in sweeping this under the rug? Sure, non-asterisks fans will shout and shake their fists. But as soon as training camps start up, no one but a handfull of us "jealous" types will care. Walsh most definately has the goods. But we most definately will never know what they are. The Asterisks and Belicheat have been massaging this story, planting PR spin as news, and sytematically setting up a plausable deniability defense for months. It all comes down to who has more money, who has the better lawyers, who's willing to be the bigger piece of scum, and who's willing to roll over and have their belly scratched. That's a good boy, Roger. -
Should have gone with Matt Walsh.

You'll hear a shredder in the background, and you'll hear Goodell and Krafty Bob high-fiving behind a curtain. -

What kind of cell phone do you have?
Johnny Coli replied to stevestojan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Exactly. Texting stuff that the other person would have to write down, using Google Maps on the fly, looking for movie times and buying the tickets while you're already out in the city, dinner reservations. I don't know why some people are so opposed to technology. If you don't want to be bothered by other people, just don't answer it when it rings. -

I have a deaf nephew whom I text with all the time (he's in Seattle, I'm in Boston). I think texting is amazing. Guess that makes me a homo. I've got an iPhone, and it's the best phone I've ever had. -
So, even if Losman outperforms Edwards in camp and the pre-season, Edwards should start? If JP sucks so bad, why should any QB competition matter? Edwards should easily beat him out, and will be going into the season as the undisputed starting QB of the Buffalo Bills. Why are some of you so adament about not having a QB competition between Losman (if he's still on the roster) and Edwards? You think Losman sucks. What's there to worry about?
-
I don't see any downside in letting JP compete for the starter's job (or at least compete to push Edwards). If JP's as bad as many here say then Edwards should have an easy camp. If Edwards is as good as those same people say, and Losman beats him out, then Losman deserves to start. Let them both compete in Turk's new system and see what happens. How is that a bad thing?

If the riots make their way downtown, someone smash and grab a Les Paul for me from Top Shelf on Hertl. Thanks in advance. -
I like how one guy BLAST'ed his tat's sequence. "This particular sequence (I've BLASTED) is too short to be specific to only one gene, but one human gene it's found [in] is the 5' UTR of one of our tight junctions." There's geek, then there's geek to the nth power, and the nth power geek does a BLAST search of his tattoo's sequence.

I have none, but I came across this website of Science Tattoos. People who work in the sciences who have science-based tats, like physics equations, the periodic table, even the nitrogen cycle. Some of these are great. If "pushed," I'd probably get a tattoo of Gibbs' entropy equation. Sure, Boltzmann's would be a gas, but all things being unequal, I'd have to go with Gibbs.

Gary M pretty much shut the door on that debate, so I'll digress if Syl Sylvain doesn't mind. I got into a debate with one of my friends the other day as to whether you should actually lace the last two eyelets of a pair of Chuck Taylor All Star high-tops. My friend was of the opinion that yes, you should, because that's why they are there. I disagreed in that the last set of eyelets is really just for show, lacing them is too constrictive, and not lacing them requires less labor. His rebuttal was that not using them would make the leftover lengths of shoelace too long, and you'd have to double knot them, thereby requiring too much labor for a pair of sneakers, especially a pair of Chuck Taylors, a blue collar shoe. His was an outstanding point, but my rebuttal to his excellent rebuttal was that you just use a shorter pair of laces. We both agreed that my interpretation was outside of the shoebox type thinking and I was in the right, provided that you already had the shorter laces because spending the extra money for shorter laces would be cheating. We toasted an end to this excellent debate, and moved on to a discussion of significant pick-slides in rock and roll.

Unscientific Poll for Fans of Teams Other than New England
Johnny Coli replied to MattM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm pretty unbiased on this subject. I'd be rip-shiit, and would call it a sham. You cheat in other sports you lose your medal, get banned, etc. The whole thing is a charade at this point anyway. Goodell's not going to open up that can of worms. -

I don't think we should be training robots to use weapons. It's only a matter of time, people. Only a matter of time.

Now you're really shovelling it onto a pile. Switzer inherited a great (gag) team from Johnson. Capers would be inheriting a team reeling from the suspension of their head coach for CHEATING. It will have tainted everything they've done since the 2000 season, and that includes your boy Brady. Questions about who knew what, who was in on it, whether Brady's numbers should be considered tainted. And when they start losing, Moss will start dogging it. Belicheat get's suspended and that team won't win 8 games next year.

And J Edgar Hoover was a transvestite, which has about as much to do with this story as your anecdote.
