  1. So basically you could have answered my question with "No, I can't make a case for McCain without parroting a platform of fear, or ripping on Obama using McCain's smears." You mention Obama more in your post than you do your own candidate.
  2. Well you've just intimated that I and the people that are voting for Obama are stupid, shiftless lemmings, so tell me and everyone else who will be voting for him in a few days why we should vote for your guy, McCain. You and others, and McCain himself, have repeatedly tried to tear down Obama, ridicule his supporters and misrepresent his plans, policies and vision, all without actually mentioning what McCain's platform is. So, tell us all why we should vote for McCain instead of Obama. Do you have any idea what McCain is planning? Do we even know what his vision outside of bombing Iran and trying to label (unsuccessfully) Obama as a terrorist/socialist/muslim is? Are you only voting for McCain because your taxes might go up a couple hundred bucks under Obama? Can you actually make a case for McCain without parroting a platform of fear?
  3. Well, I don't share the characterization of the majority of Americans you just laid out. And it's not free money. Not by any stretch. Go and look at the tax plans and what getting those deductions entails. The $4000 higher education refund (the annual tuition at a public college/university averaged $6500 last year) goes straight to the college or university, and not the person paying the tuition. The green car refund is $7000. A Prius is almost four times that. It's not free money. It's not a handout to the lazy and the shiftless. You are wrong. You know you are wrong. And I expect you to continue to shrilly obfuscate well past next Tuesday.
  4. They named a portion of their campaign the "Joe the Plumber" tour last week.
  5. I wouldn't say Obama's supporters are apathetic at all, and your notion that people making over $250k aren't supporting Obama is 100% inaccurate.
  6. And everything you've listed has been out in the open for months. Do you think that perhaps the majority of Americans voting for Obama just don't care?
  7. The only people confused by Obama's tax plan seem to be the people who wouldn't be voting for him anyway. It's not confusing. He hasn't been lying to anyone. He's been on message for months. His plan has been under the microscope for months. Families making less than $250 and individuals making less than $200k will do better under his plan. Some of the very people criticizing his plan will do better under his plan. You're not convincing anyone to vote for McCain by pretending to not understand it. It's OK, if Obama wins you'll get the tax break just like the rest of us.
  8. Yes, issues driven rather than an attack ad. He spoke about specific issues relevent to the American people right now, with real examples, rather than McCain's negative style that doesn't/hasn't addressed a single topic that the American people want to hear about. Clearly it had no effect on you, as you chose to vote for an erractic hot-head months ago, but the ad resonated with a lot of viewers. To ridicule the ad means you watched the ad. If someone as opposed to Obama, such as yourself, spent the time to tune in then a lot of people who aren't so skewed also did. That's an Obama win. And yes, every day that the Obama campaign monopolizes the news is another day that McCain is left scrambling. It's how successful campaigns are run. Instead of whining and blaming the media you should be criticizing your guy for running a 19th century style campaign in the 21st century.
  9. It's all good. The differences between Partisan Johnny and Infectious Disease Johnny are subtle.
  10. I'll drink a cheap beer out of a can in honor of your achievement (again), Mr. Starr!
  11. Yet another plug for Norway, as the Norwegian krone has no religious nonsense on any of it's denominations. Less than 3% of Norwegians go to church and only a third believe in God (half believe in a spirit or life force, but not God, and almost 20% believe in none at all). Plus, their anscestors were norse pagans. You'd have no problem eating a godless lunch paid for with godless money surrounded by atheists.
  12. They'll be hunkered down in their bunkers waiting for the UN takeover. A few might blow themselves up, as people with that militia mentality are pretty far down on the intelligence scale, but I don't think you'll see much above-ground action from them. I bet the ham radios will be working overtime, though.
  13. Yes, my post was clearly a general partisan attack and an attack on you personally.
  14. Doubt it will be a landslide, but I'd rather be in his position right now than McCain's.
  15. Appearance aside, poor dental hygiene has been linked to infective endocarditis, bacteremia, atherosclerosis, oral cancer, pre-term births, and strokes. A dental health plan is just as important as a health plan.
  16. So, the Right Wing apologists on this board hated it or claimed it was boring, but they all watched at least some of it. That means leaners, Indys and the undecided watched it, too. I'd say that's a pretty solid win for the Obama campaign this close to Election day. He also won another news cycle and effectively got his message across. Most notably though, was he ran a 30 minute ad that was overwhelmingly positive and issue-driven. The McCain campaign ran a one minute rebuttal ad on the station I was watching, and it was yet another listless attack on Obama's character and experience. Which of those two campaign ads resonated better with the American people?
  17. Let's see...Wendy Buttons and de Rothschild versus Colin Powell, Scott McClellen, Chris Buckley, Chrles Fried, Bill Weld, Chris Shays... Yeah, this is exactly the same.
  18. I'd say amused, not upset. I think the more he or Palin open their mouths the better.
  19. Yet the rest of the article goes on to show the huge discrepency between the registered Dems vs the registered Reps that have voted early, in record numbers. This early voter "landslide" or "avalanche" as the media is calling it is tallied pretty well by this site run by a Prof at George Mason U (2008 Early Voting) The Dems have a significant advantage in early votes in almost every state that has early voting.
  20. Not really. In the eyes of the media, no matter what their bias, the McCain/Palin campaign owns that guy. They invoke his name at every rally and all the surrogates plug his name. McCain can no more run from Sam the non-plumber than he can from Palin. And therein lies yet another example of the questionable decision-making process of John McCain. They grabbed this guy, propped him up without really checking on him, and now he's theirs. He made a stupid statement yesterday on their behalf and all the McCain surrogates had to address what he said, backpedal a bit from the Joe the Plumber campaign rhetoric and explain that "nope, he really doesn't speak for us" even though he's mentioned in every speech and is on the campaign trail. Plus, not only did they have to address what this nut said, Obama's real position with respect to Isreal was made front and center for part of the news cycle as the calendar flips closer to election day. Really, we're witnessing one of the worst-run campaigns in history. Do we really want that level of incompetence running this country? Do we really want John McCain, who is currently oh-for-two on vetting people (and I'm not even counting all the campaign surrogates who are no longer allowed to set foot in front of a camera), choosing people in a cabinate? Do we really want John McCain making important decisions?
  21. Talk about hedging. "Obama is gonna raise taxes! Unless he doesn't and actually lowers them, then I'm right because I'm a conservative. Even though I'm betting he won't."
  22. "a room full of television industry executives" Glad to know there's yet one more thing I don't have in common with TV execs. I think MSNBC is excellent.
  23. He was waiting until they finished renovating his house.
