Game 1: Bills versus Jets
The Senator replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I already made my prediction 2 weeks ago (link), and see no reason to change it at all... TOTAL HUMILIATION for the inept Rex Ryan and his circus-sideshow roster of talentless, ersatz professional athletes. The season opener will be over mid-way thru the first quarter, as the Bills overwhelm the ill-prepared and poorly coached Jets... Buffalo Bills 74 New Jersey Jets - 0 GO BILLSSS!!!! And the search for the Bills MLB begins

JMO - I think our MLB is still at Notre Dame... Manti Te'o -
Chan Gailey won't rule out keeping 4 quarterbacks
The Senator replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No reason to keep 4 QB's on the roster. Get a good look at Tavaris Jackson Thursday nite - if he checks out OK (and there's no reason why he won't), cut Thigpen on Friday, then re-sign Josh Nesbitt to the practice squad as a developmental QB (and as an 'insurance policy' against some unforseen disaster). JMO. -
Keep an eye on Jeff Tuell this season - he's very likely to last until day 3 of the draft, possibly even go undrafted - and, if Chan Gailey is fully committed to a pass-happy spread offense, there can be no better mentor than Tuell's new coach at Wazzu... Mike Leach .

Have you adjusted your expectations based on preseason?
The Senator replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, I apologize for such obnoxiously positve outbursts - having already accumulated a very well-publicized 4 "warning points", I should be more careful with my relentless displays of unbridled optimism I'll try my best to be miserable as I watch Thursday's final preseason game from the confines of my bed at Roswell Park hospital, and post nothing but prophecies of doom on Friday. However, I must warn everyone in advance - my morphine-induced stupor is likely to mitigate all that unbearable discomfort caused by errant passes and missed tackles... GO BILLSSS!!!! Actually, Coach, it's not all that uncommon - Moorman was signed by the Seahawks in 1999 as an undrafted free agent and sat on Seattle's practice squad for two seasons, until the Bills signed him in 2001... GO BILLSSS!!!! 19 and 0 baby!!!!!

19 and 0 baby!!!!!

Moorman is kicking as well as ever and he's obviously the Bills punter in 2012, but he'll be a 37-year-old free agent next year. Ergo, I can still see the Bills hiding Powell on the practice squad for the future - and also in case anything happens to our 36-year-old punter during the season.

ESPN the Magazine has the Bills at 11-5 in 2012 . . .

Yes - I believe he suggested retiring the "Shout" song

You should be banned - not only for suggesting that, but for even thinking it. The "Shout" song will live in perpetuity, and I am suggesting the return of... The Whammy Weenie GO BILLSSS!!!! "I expect to be undefeated...I expect to win every game." - Chan Gailey 19 and 0 baby!!!!! .

John Potter - Why a kick-off specialist makes sense
The Senator replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interestlingly (to me, anyway), a handful of kickers were cut in the past week or so - yet Potter remains. I think he's our long kicker this season - and, long-term, our only kicker. (BTW, I wouldn't be surprised to see punter Shaun Powell placed on the practice squad if he clears waivers - I love Brian Moorman, but he'll be a 37 year-old free agent this spring.) -
From today's practice notes, it sounds like Rogers may be good to go this week - certainly by the season opener - and that Gailey still loves him... For the first time in three weeks CB Justin Rogers was in pads and taking reps on the practice field. The second-year cornerback has been rehabbing a hamstring injury...Rogers was limited to taking reps only in the slot to prevent him from having to turn and run to cover deeper routes on the boundary in practice. Missing all but two practices in training camp, Rogers was forced to exercise his brain a lot more than his body to stay up to speed on all the play installation. Even though I wasn’t on the field I stayed on top of the playbook and assignments,” he said. “You can go out there and your hamstring can be messed up, but your mind can’t so you have to know what to do.” “He’s such a smart football player,” said Gailey. “He’s got ability. He doesn’t have a lot of size, but he has a ton of ability and great instincts. Justin I think could be a very good football player for us and help us win a lot of football games.” With all going well in practice Wednesday for Rogers, the door is still open for the cornerback to possibly see some action Saturday against Pittsburgh. “It’s however I feel,” he said. “I tell them I’m feeling good and the next day they’ll give me more and we’ll keep progressing like that until it’s 100 percent. I’m just coming out day by day practicing and then we’ll discuss that when the game comes.” “We’re going to look at it,” said Gailey of this week’s game. “I think it’s a combination of how he feels, how he moves, talking to him. We want to be smart about it, but he’s got a chance to play this week.” (Link - Wednesday Practice Notes-Rogers returns)

The Best Mustache in NFL History

It might improve his chances of landing elsewhere, and prolong his career for one last season

I think 'waived-injured' is the most likely scenario for Troup If we are lucky, maybe Belicheat* will claim him off the waived-injured list ala Jake Ballard If not, the Bills will try to reach an injury settlement and part ways for good (JMO)
-
As of now (after the Nesbitt move), based on his play against the Redskins (3 tackles, 2 broken pass-plays) and the Vikings (team-leading 4 tackles + fumble recovery), FS Delano Howell has moved up to #2 on the depth chart link GO BILLSSS!!!! 19 and 0 baby!!!!!
-
I knew there'd eventually be a useful role for Thigpen! Once the 'waived-injured' players clear waivers, the Bills can either part ways with them for good thru an injury-settlement (typical) or place them on IR (rare) - or re-sign them and place them on their practice squad (which is what I'm hoping for with Nesbitt).

Bills Release Merriman!
The Senator replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You should have seen this coming -
Pete Gogolak. Incontrovertible statement of fact. Besides changing the style of kicking forever, his departure started the inter-league player raids that ultimately led to the NFL-AFL merger. Plus, he went to Cornell. The Bills have not won a league championship since he left.

I say cut Thigpen AND Brad Smith, and make some room to promote safety Josh Nesbitt to #3 on the QB depth chart...
