  1. Understand, EssJay, that at Buddy's age, lots of men lose at least some power, so Brandon must know something about Nix's power that we don't - like maybe Buddy's taking FloMax, or some generic equivalent. Regarding the GM sitch, just my own 2 groszy here : Buddy Nix has been heavily involved with and has intimate knowledge of the Bills scouting, player evaluations, and strategies for for 2013 draft, and therefore will be employed by the team until at least the end of April. (Kinda like the timing when we finally got rid of Modrak.) After May, I would expect a graceful transition to Doug Whaley - or, preferably, some other young new GM that had nothing to do with the old regime. (I'd be more in favor of David Caldwell as GM, and fellow John Carrol alum Greg Roman as HC - a total 'youth movement' in FO and on-the-field leadership.) JMO.
  2. That would constitute a real "youth movement" for RW - Caldwell is 36, Roman 40 - but I like that idea. I would also go for Caldwell/Chucky....
  3. Good question - since 2009 it supposedly applies to ALL senior football operations positions, but I can't recall the Bills last (or any othe team's recent) GM search involving any minority candidates.
  4. Well, the Bills have to deal with the 'Rooney Rule' - even if they already know they want a Jon Gruden, a Bruce Arians, or a Chip Kelly. (I suppose they could inverview current OC Curtis Modkins and be done with the issue, but that'd be a bit transparent, IMO.)
  5. Now it would be great to hear that there is some Polian involvement, or at least a modicum of influence, that results in... GM - David Caldwell HC - Bruce Arians OC - Alex Van Pelt
  6. Au contraire, mon frère - I think we're going 19 and 0 baby!!!! Leach is firmly ensconced in Pullman, Washington until he turns the Cougars' program around and/or finishes his next book - a biography of Geronimo. (Apparently the Mad Scientist of Football has eschewed his pirate image in favor of the Apache tribe - he may even have even traded in his pirate's sword for a peace pipe, given the recent cannabis legalization in the Evergreen State.) However, I would be more than pleased to take Leach protoge Dana Holgerson in the former pirate's stead, IF we could work some sort of package deal for Geno Smith and the Mountaineers' head coach. If not, IMHO, Landry Jones will most certainly be there for the taking when the Bills pick in RD 2... GO BILLSSS!!!!
  7. Always better to win, Astro - especially against AssClown Rex Ryan & the NJ Jets - and I doubt the "W" cost us much in terms of the draft. Maybe my optimism is unrealistic - I still think we'll have a shot at Manti Te'o in RD 1. (If not, how can you pass on a guy named Barkevious Mingo???) Also think we'll still grab either Landry Jones, Tyler Wilson, or Ryan Nassib in RD 2 - possibly even trade back into RD 1 for Barkley or Smith. JMO.
  8. Thanks, SJ - and right back at ya!!! Only thing left to say is... GO 49ers!!!!!
  9. Yes I think that's pretty much a given, seeing as how he'll be dead and all that... GO BILLSS!!!! (and take the Sabres with you!!!!!)
  10. These sausages you speak of - do they come in buns?
  11. They said he was an offensive Guru?
  12. Are we talking about the Chan Gailey that - after a lengthy series of OTAs, mini-camps, training camp, and preseason that supposedly constituted a comprehensive and completely open evaluation of all Bills QBs - first hitched his wagon to Fanning Fan Edwards, asserting that Trentative gave the Bills the the best chance of winning? The same Chan Gailey that - just two weeks into that same season he decided that Trentative was the team's best option - changed his mind, sent Fanning Fan to football obscurity, pronouncing his full and comprehensive evaluation utterly worthless and a complete waste of his first 6 months as head coach, and that it was actually Fitz who would supposedly lead the Bills to the promised land? This is the southern-fried idiot whose suspect opinions we're discussing? GO BILLSSS!!!! 5 and 11 baby!!!!!
  13. The only continuity I have witnessed since the departure of Wade Phillips is the continuity of losing. I see no reason whatsoever to keep Chan Gailey on for any length of time - not even until tomorrow morning. We are talking about a head coach who, week after week, season after season, has mismanaged his pool of talent while also proving to be an demonstrably unmitigated disaster at game management. A head coach so convinced of and enamored with his own brilliance that he consistently outsmarts himself. A head coach who, after a full complement of OTAs, minicamps, training camp, and preseason, declared that Trent Edwards gave the Bills the best chance to win - displaying his own toughness and hard-nosed attitude in the process by dressing down a rebellious gang of 12-year-old hooligans at St. Jon Fisher who dared to question Trentative's football acumen (and Gailey's sanity) - only to then realize just two weeks later what he should have seen - if he were indeed the QB developer and offensive genius we were misled to believe - what we already knew for at least two years (namely, that Trent sucks.) A head coach who is constantly out-coached, and who consistently loses to teams that - at least on paper - are of inferior talent. It borders on the criminal that Chan Gailey and Dave Wannstedt were still employed as of 8:00 PM Sunday night, are still employed today, and that Ralph & Co. still keep reaching into my pocket 'til they've drained me of every last shekel. No more. Not another freakin' dime, Ralph. You hear me, old man??? I'll always be a fan, but there's no way I'm opening my checkbook again for this abortion of a football operation until we see something drastic - like Bill Cowher as HC and Alex Van Pelt as OC, Or, alternatively, as both HC & OC... Mike Leach GO BILLSSS!!!! (And take the Sabres with you!!!!!) .
  14. Time to go with a proven winner... Chuck Dichter
  15. My apologies - clearly, the effects of hepatic encephalopathy are taking their toll on The Senator from the Great State of Confusion...
  16. I suspect that somehow, without trading up at all, Buddy & the Bills will be in the right position and ultimately end up drafting Matt Barkley in round one, or - if Barkley's off the board when we pick - Manti T'eo in round one, then grab Landry Jones in round two. JMO. GO BILLSSS!!!! 12 and 8 baby!!!!! .
  17. Am I the only Sinatra fan out here???? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1fVQGESUTo GO BILLSSS!!!! 12 and 8 baby!!!!!
  18. Agreedd - Cordy Glenn and Chris Hairston should be mainstays on a strong Bills OL for the foreseeable future. The Eagles are a possibility for Jake Long - they are apparently establishing a tradition of overpaying for under-performing left tackles... Link - Demetress Bell and 15 Worst Free-Agent Signings in Andy Reid Era Bell had played well in Buffalo when he was healthy, but he’s been downright atrocious in Philly. The Eagles have such little depth at this point in the season that they can’t release Bell. They’re going to have to just ride Bell until the end, but he’s been increasingly worse every time he sees the field. Bell is a turnstile at left tackle, so the Eagles tried him at right tackle. The problem there is that he’s tasked with protecting Michael Vick’s blind side, and that’s too much responsibility. Bell was moved to left tackle against the Dallas Cowboys, but he was just as bad there. Bell is good for a couple of penalties and a couple of sacks allowed per game, and that’s worthy of the bench.
  19. For every Joe Montana, there's a Tom Cousineau; for every Tom Brady, a Courtney Brown. It goes without saying that a high draft pick does not guarantee a quality NFL player. (So why am I saying it??? :wallbash: ) GO BILLSSS!!!! 13 and 7 baby!!!!!
  20. . I would argue that there are no "meaningless" games, especially while the playoffs are still a mathematical possibility... GO BILLSSS!!!! 13 and 7 baby!!!!!
  21. GO BILLSSS!!!! 13 and 7 baby!!!!
  22. 13 and 7 baby!!!! GO BILLSSS!!!!
  23. I do not claim to have been there, as I was at Sullivan Stadium that afternoon, watching the Patriots* beat the Colts. However, I will be at The Ralph this Sunday for the Jacksonville game, and for the Rams game on Dec. 9, and - of course - on Dec.30 for Rex Ryan's last game as coach of the New Jersey Jets... GO BILLSSS!!!! 13-7 baby!!!!!
