  1. Um, I think you totally misread Exiled ‘s post. It was entirely pro-conservation, and anti ‘exploit the Falls’ for power production. BTW, the Corps did what they did in 1969 to try to slow erosion and SAVE the Falls. Eventually, the esCARPment will be in Tonawanda. Please re-read his post. .
  2. I dunno...Andre Reed played well into his thirties, had a thousand yard season at the age of 32. Crabtree had a thousand yard season in 2016. Worth a look, I think. JMO .
  3. I’d take a look at Crabtree - he might have some gas left in the tank .

  5. Yes, I know that the Corps built coffer dams and diverted the water to the Canadian Falls. Still, pretty f’ing amazing what you guys did! .
  6. I was going to point out that the Mighty Niagara is not a river, it’s a strait - but Exiled beat me to it (as I would expect). Does anyone remember when, in 1969, the Army Corps of Engineers “turned off” Niagara Falls? .
  7. Cupertino is nice, but laid back - if you can make it a bit further north and enjoy something rowdier, I’d recommend The North Star in SF at the corner of Powell and Green - it’s the ultimate Bills Backers Bar in NorCal. OTOH, if you prefer quieter, more laid back, stick to your plan. The Monterey side trip is a great recommendation - the Aquarium is one of the best in the world. I particularly love the sea otters. And you’d be right next to Carmel, where Clint Eastwood used to be mayor and part owner of Hog’s Breath Inn. .
  8. If anyone can develop a robot intelligent enough to discern the difference between a Silver Oak, Chateau Montelena, or Chalk Hill, it would be you Mead! ? . ???
  9. You don’t suppose this is timed to coincide with the Raiders move to Vegas? .
  10. It was Cowher’s wife that derailed things - she insisted that she’d NEVER move to Buffalo. .
  11. CBS Sports has him ranked #2 in their list of the top 32... https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2019-nfl-draft-prospect-rankings-strengths-of-all-prospects-currently-in-top-32/ .
  12. Um, thanks, I guess, but I really wish you hadn’t posted that visual ?
  13. Of course I hope we win out, but I’d be happy just to see the team go out playing to the very best of their ability, and let the chips fall where they may. JMO . OK, troll, reel me in. You feelin pretty confident about that screen name, or just ignorant? Please, just go away. .
  14. After the game, Matt’s parents were in a bar/restaurant that I frequent, probably coming from the hospital. His mom came in tonight to pick up a take out order - apparently she stayed here to take care of him while he recuperates - she laughed out loud when we told her we had nicknamed him the “ Guido Torpedo”!
  15. I hope so, good friend...I hope so. A Super Bowl win and a Stanley Cup would be nice. At least I got to see the Red Sox ‘reverse the curse’ before I enter my next life. .
  16. I suspect that it IS broken, just by seeing how he landed. He put no pressure on it while helped to the cart and, according to a previous post, hopped off the x/ray machine with his shoe off(indicating swelling and pain). The ‘fire’ that shoots thru a broken bone usually only occurs when put pressure one put pressure on it or tries to move. (I once went 3 days with an “injured” wrist, in agony only when I tried to use it - finally went to the hospital, where they informed me it was broken, and inserted a plate and 8 screws.) I hope that Milano, the “Guido Torpedo” as we call him here in his neighborhood, will be fine, and that it’s just a high ankle sprain - but I fear worse. JMO .
  17. Yes, we are DOOMED! DOOMED, I say: But, didn’t we already know this in September? .
  18. I would make that decision on 4/25/19. (I’m still hoping for Jonah Williams.) .
  19. Like today, I commemorate every Pearl Harbor day with a rousing chorus of “Anchors Aweigh”, a Pearl Harbor cocktail, and a toast to our fallen sailors. .
  20. OK, I sort of agree, but officers trying to subdue shooters is not “Wild West”. An elderly woman defending herself against an intruder in the middle of the night is not “Wild West”. Now, the gangland warfare and driveby shootings going on in our inner cities, THAT’S Wild West. But most, if not all, of the guns used in those incidents are illegally obtained. Granted, some of the weapons are legally obtained, like we have seen in the recent spate of school mass murders. Certainly , when some nut comes into a gun store and purchases a dozen weapons and several hundred rounds, it should raise an eyebrow and the individual should probably be detained, investigated, placed under surveillance, etc. But those are strong arguments for law-abiding citizens to be licensed to legally own guns to defend themselves, and more armed guards in our schools to defend helpless children. JMO .
  21. Sorry, Exiled, but how do the two incidents even compare? An officer accidentally killed by a fellow officer during a bloody shootout, vs. an elderly woman with a concealed weapon permit defending herself from possible robbery, rape, and murder in her own home - I don’t see the connection. .
  22. I never thought anyone could outdo Irv with the alliteration, but you just did! ??
  23. Favorite: Run Run Rudolph ( Keith Richards version) Least Favorite: The Chipmunk Song .
  24. In no particular order... Frank Sinatra at The Kennedy Center Frank Sinatra at Constitution Hall Frank Sinatra at Boston’s Symphony Hall Vladimir Ashkenazy at Kleinhans Steely Dan at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountainview (with The Dean and friends) Van Morrison at San Francico’s Masonic Theater ( also with The Dean et al) Rolling Stones at MSG Zappa at The Aud Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter, James Cotton at Sheas Lynyrd Skynard at the old Century
  25. That one really irked me - I think we should form People for the Ethical Treatment of Plants You shouldn’t be able to just rip those things up by the roots, chop them up, throw ‘em in boiling water, and eat them .
