  1. Ooops...my bad (But, you didn't say "indefinitely" .) Apparently it needed to be said again - and probably will still need repeating - since some don't seem to realize that Vick's already suspended. How can Goodell suspend someone who's already suspended? Unless, of course, he puts Vick on... Double Secret Probation (warning: language)
  2. Actually, Vick also already has received an indefinite suspension, which Goodell said he might consider lifting based on Vick's conduct, or which could result in a lifetime suspension since gambling was involved... "In August of 2007, Hours after Vick plead guilty to federal charges in the Bad Newz Kennels dog fighting investigation under a plea agreement which outlined gruesome details regarding treatment of the dogs, the NFL suspended him indefinitely without pay. In a letter to Vick, Commissioner Roger Goodell said that Vick had admitted to conduct that was "not only illegal, but also cruel and reprehensible." While Vick is technically a first-time offender under the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy, Goodell handed down a harsher suspension because Vick admitted that he provided most of the money for the gambling side of the operation. The NFL does not allow its players to be involved in any form of gambling, and even first-time offenders risk being banned for life. However, Goodell did leave open the possibility of reinstating Vick depending on how well he cooperated with federal and state authorities." link So I'm not sure what any of these blokes/ersatz 'reporters' are talking about - Vick is already suspended "indefinitely".
  3. Ditto. But, as Cincy points out, he would have said Sandra Dee. I'm guessing he thinks of Sally Fields more as 'The Flying Nun'.
  4. Go figure...how can something be both trendy and obsolete?
  5. We already have a downtown shopping mall. In 1959, the Greater Buffalo Development Foundation hired a consultant from Cambridge, MA - Arthur D. Little - to help develop a plan to revitalize downtown Buffalo. His recommendation? A downtown shopping mall. So they tore down the old Erie County Savings Bank (a magnificent structure), and destroyed Joesph Ellicott's original radial street design (Buffalo's original street design is loosely modeled after Pierre' L'Enfant's plan for Washington, DC, featuring streets 'radiating' from hubs, like the spokes of a wheel), building in its place the monstrosity known as Main Place Mall. Leave it to a New Englander to f&ck up downtown Buffalo. Here's what used to be there... Shelton Square The mall was built, and three banks also built huge downtown towers (Marine Midland - now HSBC, Erie County Savings Bank, and M&T). It did little to save or revitalize downtown. Buffalo's population shrunk throughout the 1960's from it's high of 532,000 in the '50's to 462,000 in 1970, to 357,000 in 1980, and now stands around 270,000. Downtown also had a McDonald's, Burger King, and other eateries, now all closed. The flight to the suburbs in the 1960's & '70's - and the subsequent rise of suburban mega-malls - doomed downtown Buffalo. (Closing down Main Street for several years to build the surface railway was the final bullet for many remaining downtown merchants.) Folks want convenience - they want a safe place to shop, near their homes. If more people lived withing the city limits - particularly in the downtown area - the lack of a downtown shopping district would take care of itself in short order, as residents would demand places to shop, and retailers and enterprising entrepreneurs would quickly fill the void. All that said, I do think downtown is slowly coming back. The UB medical campus and burgeoning biomedical corridor will attract physicians, scientists, and entrepreneurs - folks that earn lots, work long hours, and want decent housing convenient to their jobs. As more downtown housing is built, be it new or converted 'lofts', a more affluent inner city population will create the demand for restaurants, dry cleaners, grocery stores, retail, etc., and eventually there will be a downtown Buffalo again.
  6. HAPPY NATAL ANNIVERSARY!!!! Cheers
  7. Belatedly... HAPPY NATAL ANNIVERSARIES!!!! Cheers
  8. You could really do quite a bit for inner-city kids with $137K. TBD usually doesn't miss much, but didn't see this article linked on the home page this morning... Donn Esmonde: T. O. letting glitter dull his senses I'm assuming the earrings are for himself? I don't wear earrings - don't really understand the whole 'guys wearing earrings' thing, but then again, I don't understand nose-rings or tongue piercings, either.
  9. Heavens to Mugatroyd...I was wrong! My apologies, Your Intoxigence!!!!
  10. That's 'mergatroid', Your Belligerence.
  11. when yer explainin' , yer losin', a-hole... welcome to 'ignore' but, by all means, please continue to... STFU!!!!
  12. Really??? Please check my post - the one you replied to... link ...then, STFU.
  13. Well let's just see - I posted "Mikey will miss Peters. The Bills will not." To which you replied... What did I miss? "Deep in your hearts, so will you????" Deep in my heart, I'm really glad the fu#ker's gone.
  14. Such a silly notion. I know you really want it to be true, but no, the Bills will not miss a beat without FatStupidLazyLoad at LT. In fact, their OL will likely be vastly improved this season. The Bills will not miss him, nor will I. I'm elated that he's gone. You need to get over your man-crush and stop pining over the useless dolt. The Bills will be a much better and more cohesive team now that PayMe Peters is gone.
  15. I keep telling you guys - if you want good quotes, you want... Mike Leach
  16. This is just an interim stop - JP will hone his skills in the UFL under the watchful eye of Jim Fassel, then sign with the Jets and come back to haunt the Bills.
  17. First Prize - A week in San Francisco. Second Prize - Two weeks in San Francisco.
  18. Veronica Cornerstone
  19. Mickey will miss Jason Peters. The Bills will not.
  20. Well let's see - Moss is better at taking games (and entire seasons) off, smoking reefer, mooning the crowd, rubbing his ass on goal posts, and running down traffic control officers. I'll go with T.O.
  21. I'd be lying if I said I knew - had to look it up. That's freakin' bizarre. Watch the Donovan interview - "WTF is this 'in the grasp' BS?" How many of today's QBs would have even survived a season back then? And some folks wonder aloud why QB stats are so much better today.
  22. Absolutely - it's like saying Ted Williams couldn't play in the majors today. Some of those guys played on both sides of the ball. Most of them had jobs in the off-season. There were half as many teams and roster sizes were smaller, so - by simple math - half of today's players wouldn't have been in the league back then. Given today's cushy treatment of professional athletes, coupled with astronomical salaries, modern training techniques, and advanced nutrition, you gotta wonder how those old warhorses would dominate in this era. Conversely, how many of today's spoiled and pampered prima donnas would have 'cut it' back then?
