Free agents go where they think they can win
The Senator replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are four New England Patriots in the Pro Football Hall of Fame - Nick Buoniconti, John Hannah, Mike Haynes, and Andre Tippett. None of them are quarterbacks, moron. (As of the 2008 season, seven Buffalo Bills are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame - O.J. Simpson, Joe Delamielleure, Marv Levy, Thurman Thomas, James Lofton, Billy Shaw, and Jim Kelly. This weekend, we'll add Bruce Smith and Ralph Wilson.) -
Nice comeback, CumSponge - usually I have to go to a bowling alley to hear such wit.

I don't get it, Pisswater - shouldn't you and '4th and 1' be with the rest of the Fagsboro Fops, playing tackle football out at.. Race Point Beach

You're boyfriends are gonna think you're a little weird, spending all this time on a Buffalo Bills board. It's 75 and sunny outside - why don't you get out and play with the other boys a little? There's some boy named 'Ice Cold Buschi' waiting for you out at... Herring Cove -
Peters On Pup List For a Quad Injury
The Senator replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can almost see Adam West's Batman shaking his head slowly and sadly intoning, "You poor, deluded child..." 1) Peters held out all last summer, after missing the prior season's last two games and undergoing off-season surgery for a sports hernia and blown-out groin, and was clearly out of shape when he finally showed up at the Bills camp. His effort was half-assed all season long, leading the league among blind-side tackles in sacks-allowed. He missed the first game due to lack of preparation and conditioning, and the last two (plus the Pro Bowl) due to injury. So it's not exactly a reach to assume he's not a 'gym-rat' in the off-season. 2) Guy 'tweaked' his quad on day one of camp, either in the first running drills or from running from his bed to the breakfast table - take your pick - and has been rehabbing since. Doesn't exactly sound like 'The $60 Million Dollar Man' now, does he? 3) I absolutely do not hate that he got the money he wanted. Not at all. No freakin' way. But I would have been steamed as hell had he gotten it from Buffalo, and then pulled his crap all over again. There are reasons why a 340-pound athlete running a 4.8 40-yard dash out of college goes undrafted. The Bills took a shot, gave the guy a chance, paid him well beyond his wildest dreams, and turned him into a premier LT. The one thing they failed at - and that everyone will fail at - is stopping him from being an ass hole. -

I agree completely. And I don't take Peters' departure personally - I take it gleefully, for the exact reasons you stated. What I take personally is his quitting on the team and the fans last season (actually, at the end of the 2007 season). -
Peters On Pup List For a Quad Injury

One of the biggest concerns in IggleDom right now is the offensive line 'coming together', and how Peters injury and lack of practice will affect their O-line's performance and chemistry. (In FatBoy's defense, his isn't the only injury, but I'm sure the Eagles were expecting more for their $60M - like a guy showing up in shape maybe?) To date, they still haven't been able to get their five best lineman on the field together. Sound at least a little familiar? You might say Parker did us a favor. -

What Jason Peters actually said and meant: "I was thinking about it sometimes. If you get beat on a play and you think about your contract. It doesn't affect me that much if our QB gets killed or if I lead the NFL in sacks-allowed - everyone that doesn't play against me is voting me to the Pro Bowl anyway. I thought about it some early in the year but later on in the year it wasn't a big deal - I figured, WTF? I'll just skip the last two games like I did last season, and I'll be outa here by summer!" You think when Evans drops a pass, he thinks about his contract? No, he's probably thinking, "if only that a-hole Peters woulda showed up in shape and ready for football, maybe Trent would have better protection." When Edwards gets sacked, he's thinking, "I'm not making enough money? No, he's probably thinking, "if only that a-hole Peters woulda showed up in shape and ready for football, maybe he wouldn't whigg on so many blocks." "If you get beat on a play and you think about your contract" isn't letting your contract affect your play??? Wake up and smell the coffee, man. -

The conclusion is that Fat Boy - who was under contract, well-paid, and expected to perform - quit on his Buffalo Bills teammates before last season started. His selfishness and apathy hindered the installation of Schonert's offensive scheme in training camp and preseason, and his half-assed effort when he finally did show up (a day before he was to begin forfeiting his game checks, I believe) left Edwards and Losman vulnerable to sacks and to injury, and forced the coaching staff and his fellow Bills players to make roster adjustments to compensate for his absence and then for his lack of conditioning and preparation. I'm a Bills fan - Peters plays for Philadelphia (if his quad heals, and if he feels like it). I don't root for the Eagles. I don't like the Eagles. I don't care how the Eagles or their players perform, save for how it might affect the Bills in a given week, and I don't give a crap about what kind of great job you think Eugene Parker did either. In fact, I'm glad the Eagles wasted so much money on a fat, stupid, injury-prone, lazy POS like PayMe Peters. If you're such a fan of them, go get yourself some Eagles tickets... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! REVERSE THE CURSE!!!!! -
