  1. LINK (Are we f%cking finished with this, Your Belligerence?
  2. I wasn't there. You saw him hit the cabbie?
  3. I can only reply the same way I replied to The Dean... Why don't you calm down a bit, and let all the facts come out before you convict Kane?
  4. You into your cups this early Deano???? It's both - there were witnesses, and I didn't interview them. Kane's attorney said he's found information that will exonerate his client and disputed the cab driver's claims of injuries. "I know he [Radecki] said that, but it's not my client who committed any crimes against him," Cambria said. "When all of the facts and circumstances come out concerning the incident, then the public will have a better idea of what exactly happened and whether or not there is any criminal activity there...." "When all this is put into perspective, it's going to appear vastly different than the first impression." Why don't you calm down a bit, and let all the facts come out before you convict Kane?
  5. My prediction - cabbie will do some jail time.
  6. Yeah see Dean I didn't interview the witnesses, so I don't know what they said. How 'bout you? And nice Dean-like mutation of the 'evidence' I provided that Kane was pissed at a lack of star-treatment - the only thing drunken-hack's own lawyer was implying was that if his drunken-hack client had recognized Kane for the millionaire he is, he probably would have expected to be paid - and well-tipped - and wouldn't have treated him like any other college kid and locked him in the back of his cab. (Not sure that's legal either, but we're sure to find out.) Your third sentence is unintelligible - how can I possibly be justifying something that I'm saying never happened in the first place?
  7. Well, the driver's attorney - prominent BuffTown mouthpiece Andrew C. LoTempio - may have doubts himself... "The driver's attorney, backpedaling on his client's accusations a day before, said the incident had been "blown out of proportion," and a prominent Buffalo attorney hired by Kane said he was convinced that the former No. 1 draft pick had not committed a crime.... "It's a dispute over a cab fee, and unfortunately Mr. Radecki didn't recognize Mr. Kane and just thought they were a couple of college kids," LoTempio said. "We should be able to work things out." LoTempio told WGN that cabdrivers in Buffalo often lock their doors until the fare is paid because passengers sometimes flee without paying. He suggested that was partly to blame for what happened Sunday." link
  8. Actually, Deano, why yes - there were witnesses - all of whom seem to be supporting the Kanes' version of the events, which you'd know had you tuned into this morning's TV news here in the BuffTown. So there, Your Belligerence! Harrrumph!!!!!
  9. As always, there are at least two sides to every story... "The city cab driver who has accused National Hockey League star Patrick Kane and his cousin of robbing and attacking him Sunday morning has two drunken driving convictions and had no valid driver's license at the time of the incident, The Buffalo News has learned." Link - Buffalo Snooze article My take - recidivist drunk operating cab illegally without license locks two kids in the back of his cab - apparently a common practice among BuffTown hacks who often get stiffed on the fare transporting college kids from the ChipStrip. They get pissed, hand him $15 for the $13.80 fare and demand the $1.20 change that aforementioned recidivist drunk thought he'd just pocket. (Certainly they're not going to tip him for treating them like schitt.) Then the trouble starts. If illegal cab driver had not locked them in, he probably would have ended up with his fare and a nice tip. Stupid hack brought it on himself and this will be settled very quietly with a very small payout, if any at all. Next case...
  10. Poseur.
  11. Only in Massachusetts... Bunghole Liquors
  12. It is, because now I'll have to up my contributions, in the hope they'll do a better job... An English major, no doubt... While I commend you for that sacrifice, it's not a forgone conclusion. I'd leave out the "gladly" part, as well. (All ball-busting aside, that is such an honorable decision - for which you have my gratitude and respect. ) That is also unfortunate - you should be swimming in the gorge, sailing on Cayuga, and hitting on AP'ettes. There'll be plenty of time for work later. One of the most enjoyable summers I ever spent was at 'Camp Cornell' - without the rigors of academia or the pressure of prelims. Let me apologize again, directly to you rather than in a reply to someone else. I went off like a persnickety, cantankerous, obstreperous old man, when a simple, caustic, "Duh?" would have more than sufficed. You're a good guy - try to remember that no one has a monopoly on perfection, not even you. GO BIG RED!!!! (Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming...)
  13. It's not that he thinks he's bright beyond his years that irritates me; it's that he thinks he's bright beyond my years.
  14. It's just my menstrual cycle - I was unduly harsh on the young lad, and I apologize.
  15. Where's 'Mickey the Drama Queen' today? Shouldn't he also be here to protect Jason?
  16. Actually, the Buffalo Snooze also has a full-page congratulatory ad, so maybe Mr. Wilson already has a deal with Warren Buffett? Not saying that your sources are wrong, but given that Jacobs withdrew his bid to own the Browns over 10 years ago due to cost, one has to wonder is he's willing to 'pony up' $750M today... Browns got too rich, so Jacobs cashes out The Boston Globe (Boston, MA) | September 2, 1998| Copyright| For Jerry Jacobs, the bottom line has always been that if a deal doesn't make any cents, it doesn't make any sense. With that in mind, Jacobs, owner of the Boston Bruins and the FleetCenter, gave up his bid to become the owner of the Cleveland Browns yesterday. "I pulled out of it," said Jacobs, who was in Boston on Bruins business. "The more I looked at it, I realized that I was not going to be the highest bidder. I had a number in my mind that I thought would make sense. But the longer this process took, the more I realized that my number wasn't good enough... And just for all the folks that think Ralph Wilson is cheap, here's how Bruins fans feel about Jeremy Jacobs' largesse... 'More concerned with maximizing hotdog sales in third period blowouts rather then putting together a Stanley Cup contending team for his championship hungry fans has finally caught up to the greedy Jacobs.' Link - Please Sell The Bruins I'm not sure that any one Western New Yorker has the financial strength to acquire and own the Bills - it would probably take a consortium of individuals, hopefully with some proviso in the purchase agreeing that guarantees the team stays in WNY. One thing we can all take some comfort in - Ralph was one of only two owners who opposed, and voted against, the relocation of the Browns to Baltimore, even though he and Art Modell were close friends... It was a financial windfall for the NFL, and owners approved the move, 25-2. Buffalo and Pittsburgh were the only negative votes. The problem, from Wilson's perspective, was Cleveland fans never were given a final, fair chance to keep the team. He put that issue ahead of his friendship with Modell. Of course, when it comes to franchise relocation, Wilson has walked the walk in Buffalo. He has stayed in Western New York and fought to compete, via regionalization of the franchise. link - Ralph Wilson: Football lover and fighter (Buffalo News) So the Torontonians who may actually think they have a shot at 'stealing' our Bills, and the taunting trolls - who stop by TSW under ever-changing pseudonyms to display their ignorance - can consider that if there is a way for Mr. Wilson to reach out from beyond the grave to keep the team in Buffalo, his loyalty to Buffalo and Bills fans will prevail. But for today - CONGRATULATIONS, RALPH!!!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! 19 and 0 baby!!!!!
  17. Not for nothin', but this whole discussion belongs in the "Ask Tim Graham" thread. Can I bash Jason Peters now?
  18. Wasn't it actually the COW that was vindicated? O'Leary's Cow was a vile CANARD - a fabrication of the Chicago PRESS. The young FELLA? Christ, you sound older than me. Of COURSE Sage is RIGHT. Don't you think we all KNOW what the men (and women) who DIED for their country were fighting - or were drafted to fight - for? Which is why it seemed a bit PRESUMPTUOUS of Young Sage to EXPLAIN it to us. If I attempted an arrogant and condescending EXPLANATION of a concept so OBVIOUS, I'd expect to be ADMONISHED myself. Kids should be SEEN, and not heard. And you probably shouldn't get involved in accusations of 'wild generalizations' if you don't understand the background. Young Sage would - or should - be aware (although YOU wouldn't) that I chose those two profs for their field of expertise, their unparalleled teaching careers, and the prominence and universal respect they enjoy on the Cornell campus - but mostly for the prominent role they played during and after the 1969 illegal takeover of Willard Straight Hall by gun-toting, militant anti-war activists, where more than just flags were burned. I should probably have also mentioned Fred Marcham (born in 1898, BTW )... Getting It Straight That said, with the benefit of hindsight and retrospection, my admonition to Young Sage was way too heavy-handed, and I apologize to Sage. Try burning an American flag in front of me, and I'll RAP you with my cane.
  19. Valid points (actually, Texas A&M was #88). But the Bills brought in Mizzou backup Chase Patton, who completed 18 passes in his college career, yet didn't think Harrell was worth a look? Guy was a Heisman candidate, holds the NCAA touchdown record, threw for over 5000 yards two consecutive seasons, had a 70% completion ratio, a 5-to-1 TD/INT ratio, and a 160 QB rating - I'll assume the Bills were looking for some help if they gave Patton a tryout, so I can't understand why a guy like Harrell would not intrigue them. JMO.
  20. Interesting points, all true. On a much smaller scale, just look at how the Bills practically 'blackballed' WGR during the Donahoe regime - particularly when Dickerson was still spewing his daily vindictive bile about the Bills front office and coaching staff. I'm sure Lori and some closer to the situation can shed more light on that rift, but I seem to recall that the Bills would not even go on the air with anyone from 'gr. Luckily, while all but dead in the mainstream media outlets, the Cheatriettes* scandal and the NFL cover-up known as 'Spygate' remains in the public eye largely through the efforts of a small but dedicated conspiracy theorists - much like Mark Green, David Lifton, Charles Crenshaw, et al still seek the truth regarding the events of Nov. 22, 1963. There are even folk artists who - like the protest songs of the 60's and 70's - have immortalized the scandal in song... Shady Brady and Bill Belicheat BTW, hey Tim - some folks think our QB situation is still questionable, particularly at backup; any insight as to why the Bills never gave even a passing thought to bringing Graham Harrell in for a tryout after Cleveland released him? Guy was a Heisman candidate, holds the NCAA touchdown record, threw for over 5000 yards two consecutive seasons, had a 70% completion ratio, a 5-to-1 TD/INT ratio, and a 160 QB rating - the Bills 'braintrust' brought in Mizzou backup Chase Patton, who completed 18 passes in his college career, but didn't think Harrell was worth a look?
  21. That would be unfortunate, as it would mean we'll be drafting seven d-backs this April.
  22. Well that's the stupidest thing I've read on TSW today, but it's still early so maybe you're just getting started. Flutie's listed as 5'10" - I've stood next to him and can confirm that he's 5'10" only when standing on a box of Flutie Flakes. Graham Harrell is 6'2" - the same height as Brett Favre, Joe Montana, Steve Young, Tony Romo, Donovan McNabb, Jake Delhomme, Kurt Warner, etc. He's actually taller than Drew Brees, Jeff Garcia, Se...why am I bothering to respond this this???
  23. A very wise man opined that 'it all starts with the offensive line' - a man by the name of... Mike Leach
  24. Actually, dog, I think he could easily take over the #1 spot here - plus he's got no Dakota Fanning crush. He may even be more talented than Brady* - whom he resembles in appearance only. (*Brady's an unctuous douchebag, while Harrell's a very like-able, modest kid.) I know he signed a 2-year deal up in Saskatchewan - it'll be interesting to see how he does in the CFL. I'm guessing he'll do well, what with the wider field and the greater emphasis on the passing game. They tend to 'spread' it and throw a lot up there - obviously things that Harrell does well. Since he signed with them so late, we probably won't see much of him until next season, but one thing's for sure - we'll find out if he can play in the cold! You think Tim Graham could shed some light on why the Bills completely passed him over? Maybe I'll ask him, then. I really thought the 'Ask Tim Graham' thread was for things like household tips - you know, like "Hey Tim - what's the best way to get acrylic paint off of metal siding?", or "Hey Tim - how do you get ink stains off a silk tie?"
