The Demon Curse of the Bills
The Senator replied to poochiesposse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not OJ - it's 'The Curse of Pete Gogolak', I'm tellin' ya. The Bills win the AFL league championship in '65, then Ralph lets Gogolak get away. Gogolak gets signed by the Giants and goes on the become their leading all-time scorer, a stat he holds to this day, while the Bills never win another league title - even losing to the Giants at the last second in the infamous 'Wide-Right' Superbowl XXV. Coincidence? I think not. (Interestingly enough, the last time the Bills won a league championship, they had a Cornellian - Gogolak - on their roster, and they haven't won a league title since!) What the Bills really need to do, since they need O-line help anyway, is to either steal or strike a deal with the Giants for reserve OT/G Kevin Boothe - a Cornellian, like Gogolak - to reverse this long-standing curse. (I was a huge advocate of drafting Boothe in '06, when the Raiders selected him in Round 6, but no one listens to me. ) REVERSE THE CURSE!!!!! -
Two things we could do RIGHT NOW
The Senator replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
WGRF-FM could have a "Meet Dakota Fanning Day" - have her signing autographs at the 97 Rock Tailgate Party - maybe it keeps young 'Trenters' waiting in line in Lot 2, while Ryan Fitzpatrick demonstrates the art of the deep pass to the Bills faithful -
finally someone who 'gets it' - the trent-haters out there just don't realize the intellect of our young stanford qb by deliberately throwing a game they should have won easily, young 'trenters' is trying to expedite jauron's departure if only the haters understood the amazing genius of young captain checkdown

there were about 850 votes, which means 'trenters' voted 34 times

WTH was Edwards doing SMILING after the game
The Senator replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jack Kemp was from CA. Daryle Lamonica, too. Troy Aikman, Jeff Garcia, and future Jets phenom Mark Sanchez as well. But I get your point - the Bills just seem to pick the wrong QBs from the Golden State. Hell, even JP - say what you will about him as a QB - had more balls than 'trentie-boy'. I never thought I'd see the day that I wished our starting QB was... Bob Orton -

Turning the fans on the team (on purpose)?
The Senator replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Ralph's counting days, what's the point? You think billion-dollar deals come together in a week or two? Or are you more of the Mark Lane/David Lifton 'conspiracy-theory' types, and think RW has been secretly plotting this for years? -
Turning the fans on the team (on purpose)?
The Senator replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh stop it. Please, just stop it. First, as has been pointed out, Ralph does not need the fans' assent to move his team. He could have done it at any point, and there were plenty of opportunities, over the 50 years he's kept the team in Buffalo - and made beaucoup bucks in the process. Second, at the moment, Toronto doesn't even have a stadium available for the Bills during the NFL regular season calendar. Third, Toronto can't even sell out one game, much less a full season - Ralph's gonna forgo all that TV revenue? -
Good point - he is, after all, 90 years old! I can hear it now... "Ralph, old boy, I've done a lousy job. I'm fired."

A Few Thoughts About The Game
The Senator replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This puzzles me as well, Bill, and I'm now wondering how many other complete idiots - in addition to Bush & Jauron - has Yale turned out between '68 & '73? (Non locus ornat hominem, sed homo locum. ) -

Well, first of all, RW wasn't in his 'big plush bed in the suburbs of Detroit' - or, if he was, he made it from there to the Bills locker room pretty quickly after the game... (from Sullivan's column this morning...) No one was laughing after this one, least of all the Hall of Fame owner. "You saw the game, just like I did," Wilson said outside the locker room. "What do you want me to say? What do you say?" Uh, is this unacceptable, like the Miami game in Toronto? "No comment," he said. But you're never lacking for comment, Wilson was told. "I am today," he said. Regarding Ralph not being ready to 'shoot' Jauron, Sully goes on to say... Then I asked the question that will be asked a thousand times or more in the days ahead, as Bills fans contemplate the next showdown with a winless NFL team — Sunday at home against the Browns. Is Jauron's job safe it he loses to Cleveland? "I'm worried about my job," Wilson said. Then a PR staffer ended the interview before we had time to determine exactly what Ralph's job entails nowadays. I hate to leap to conclusions, especially when it comes to the seemingly unbreakable bond between Wilson and Jauron. But that did not sound like a vote of confidence for the head coach. It sounds as if Jauron could be in some trouble if he fails to beat the Browns. link Sounds like Ralph has had enough Dick. If winless Cleveland beats the Bills in Ralph's own house this Sunday, Jauron is as good as gone - that is, if he makes it thru the week to begin with. If he does make it, I expect Ralph will notice the fans' reaction when Jauron is introduced - believe it or not, RW does notice those things. Of course, the saddest part of all this is that it could have - and should have - been done last January, when we still could have signed... Mike Leach

please fix the title of this thread - you're implying that there was a career to be ruined in the first place

reminds me of that timeless joke... guy goes to see his doctor, doctor says, "what's the problem?" guy jerks his arm in a sudden movement and says, "it hurts when i do this..." doctor says, "then don't do that!" jauron's too freakin' stupid to figure that out.

Even I laughed at the Bills today, when I wasn't crying.

I just want to be clear - 'Trenters' is being f'd up by an incompetent coaching staff, and a screwed-up system, but JP wasn't. Do I have that right? (Also, Trent has barely started a full-season's worth of games, so he's really almost still a rookie, right?)
-
ssshhhh - don't hate 'trenters' too loudly, or someone will call you an idiot

I believe that's 'football-related' - ask him about Dakota's favorite snack and he'll probably give you an earful. -

OFFICIAL GAME THREAD: BILLS v. 'PHINS 10/4/2009
The Senator replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Question - and I'm too lazy to make it a poll... Do the Bills fire Jauron tonite, wait until winless Cleveland beats us in our house next Sunday, or does RW wait until the bye week, when we're 1-7? -

That was a beating? You haven't been posting here very long - you've only been a troll for 6 months - you have no clue what a TBD beating is.
