  1. We had 3 - one at each student union (North Campus - The Thirsty Bear, West Campus - The Pub), and the Statler Bar at the Hotel School (of course, back then the drinking age was18). I had to walk past that damn bar every day to and from dinner, and have the enlarged liver to prove it. I feel sorry for kids these days, having to drink all those lattes and cappucinos.
  2. Hell yeah - that's precisely why our crack GM went out and got Brian Brohm! 12 and 8 baby!!!!
  3. And man did he ever play it well... Russ Grimm
  4. Well by the time we play the Falcons, he'll have been here over 5 weeks. Same with Simmons, so maybe the O-line will be a bit more solid, too. Guy scored a 32 on the Wonderlic, so I'm assuming he's not totally brain-dead. I really would like to see if there's still any semblance of this... Nice discussion & interview from EPSN's coverage of the '08 draft
  5. That's an easy one... Mike Leach
  6. Well, in that case... 12 and 8 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! REVERSE THE CURSE!!!!!
  7. Ah yes - the NFL's next Matt Leinart. I wonder how many NFL linebackers are just drooling at the chance to break Wanker-Punk's collarbone?
  8. OK, I named one. I called it, 'Bob'.
  9. I fixed the link to Mayor Fargo above - apparently I mistyped the original entry. Michael Rizzo's book, Through the Mayors Eyes, is a wonderful compilation of Buffalo history from a mayoral perspective, from Ebenezer Johnson thru Tony Masiello - I gave a copy to Councilman Kearns during his own mayoral campaign. You can pick it up at the 'Local Interest' section at Borders, or online... Through The Mayor's Eyes For a nice little WNY historical primer - and, for that matter, a 'who's who' of the late 19th/early 20th centuries - all one needs to do is take a stroll through Forest Lawn. They're all there - Letchworth, Carrier, Wm. Hengerer, Kleinhans, Millard Fillmore, etc., etc., including... Fargo Forest Lawn
  10. ...and a worthy wrestling opponent, at that!
  11. Let me proffer another possibility, albeit convoluted and far-fetched... Maybe, just maybe, it's because he was just signed four weeks ago, on November 19th (2 days after Jauron's firing), and might be trying to learn the names of his new teammates while assimilating the playbook. I know, I know...that's just too far-fetched - please just forget I suggested it.
  12. The thread title is very misleading - 'when wrestling was actually good'. Hah! You children know nothing of GOOD wrestling...REAL wrestling - Classy Freddy Blassie, Bruno Samartino, Dominic Denucci, Toni Parisi, Waldo Von Erich, George 'The Animal' Steele, Pampiro Firpo, Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka, The Fargo Brothers, Haystacks Calhoun, BoBo Brazil, Mr. Fuji, Toru Tanaka, Killer Kowalski, OMG I could go on and on...
  13. Oh I think you absolutely have to consider the possibility of Brohm as a starter next season - as we sit right now, it's between Brohm and Fitzpatrick, unless we've got another QB that no one knows about.
  14. Thanks C - once again you've shown us the light, and the folly of our ways. Silly to think that getting a look at Brohm playing against New England (fighting for the AFC East), Atlanta (fighting to stay in the playoff hunt), and the undefeated Colts (playing for a perfect season) will tell us anything at all about this guy's ability.
  15. Yeah we just refer to it these days as 'The Richardson Complex' - hopefully preservation/restoration efforts will continue, despite the fact that NYS is on the verge of insolvency... H. H. Richardson Complex It's nice to see a growing preservation movement here - we used to just tear things down and replace them with corrugated steel boxes. Some of the 'lost treasures' of Buffalo were truly magnificent... The Pierce Hotel The Larkin Administration Building The Fargo Mansion (That's right, Wells Fargo AND American Express both have their roots right here in Buffalo...) William G. Fargo
  16. You got the wrong Mike - if it's offense you crave, the Mike you should want is... Mike Leach
  17. Apparently more often than you think... Warren Moon Kurt Warner Jeff Garcia Jake Delhomme Tony Romo Interesting fact I just tripped over...when last season's playoffs kicked off, the 12 playoff teams had 167 undrafted free agents on their roster... Link - Undrafted players have huge role for playoff teams Now I've posted this before, but maybe it bears reminding some folks of a few of the other more prominent NFL stars that were overlooked in the NFL draft... Fred Jackson Brian Moorman Pat Williams London Fletcher Jason Peters Adewale Ogunleye James Harrison Antonio Pierce Bart Scott Nick Harper Quintin Mikell Randall Gay Willie Parker Priest Holmes Wes Welker Rod Smith Wayne Chrebet Nate Washington Antonio Gates Jeff Saturday Kris Deilman Shaun O'Hara Brian Waters Adam Vinateri Mike Vanderjagt Joshua Cribbs Mack Strong Clifton Smith etc. So if you think that an occasional star doesn't escape notice by even the best of scouts, think again.
  18. As soon as we know if his both his legs are still the same length. I love the guy too - and hate to say it, murra, but that was a nasty break.
  19. ...way beyond your grasp.
  20. Don't know much about him - except that, apparently, he doesn't like Utah... On November 28, 2009 Hall and his team won a close game against the Utah Utes in overtime 26-23. After the game, Hall commented that "I don't like Utah. In fact, I hate them. I hate everything about them. I hate their program, I hate their fans, I hate everything." When asked about these comments later, Hall stated "I think the whole university, their fans and their organization is [sic] classless." Sounds a bit like Brian Cox - wonder what he thinks of Miami?
  21. If it's based on the size of Peters' fat ass, we'll be drafting Ndamukong Suh! Seriously, I thought the trade was for a first and fourth in '09, and a sixth in 2010... link (Compensatory picks are based on free-agency losses, no?)
  22. Quick question - don't we have a 2nd round 6 pick from the FatAss Peters trade?
  23. Really? Then why did they re-sign him to their practice squad after he cleared waivers, instead of just letting him walk? No chance that they saw some potential in the guy as a long-term development project, much like the Bills did with Peters? Wow. Then it's settled, without seeing him play a down - Brohm sucks. Thanks for saving the Bills all that time, and for that inside look into the minds and decision-making process of the Green Bay staff.
  24. And with the Bills luck, they'd draft the guy with a high first-round pick and he'd opt to play baseball for the Angels!
  25. Thank you, Conch. Why is this so obvious to some, while others can't seem to comprehend the notion? The Bills made a grab at Brohm for a reason - my gut-feel is that they think the former Heisman candidate may be a diamond-in-the-rough. They need to see what they've got in him before the draft, in the unlikely possibility that Clausen or Bradford are 'on the board' when the Bills pick.
