Trent is out for the season
The Senator replied to Astrojanitor's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is hard to understand - he wouldn't be starting Brohm either, if he had any choice. Fewell is a DC/D-backs coach with no offensive expertise, and is trying to get as many W's as he can on his resume before he hits the unemployment line in January. I wish it was otherwise, but I can't really say I blame him either. He's not about taking chances right now and, as a defensive coach, he has no ability to teach those guys anything. Sad thing is that he'll never find out if any of those guys (1) have any talent to be developed, or (2) may actually have give him a BETTER chance to win some games. Looks like we'll t jushave to wait for the new staff to evaluate the current roster. -

Never really liked the guy to begin with - always thought the Dakota Fanning thing was really weird, and grew to positively hate the wuss once he became a total Jauron suck-ass. -
Is Brohm the future or do the bills go for another?
The Senator replied to zer0vette's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Folks seem to forget that undrafted Jason Peters was waived, then re-signed to the Bills practice squad - after no one else claimed him - where he sat until Mike Williams questionable status opened the door for Peters on the active squad, where he was still mainly a special-teams player until the Bills finally saw fit to work him into the lineup. I guess that means Peters sucked, since no one wanted him bad enough to draft him, then no one wanted him bad enough to claim him off waivers, then no one tried to sign him off our practice squad. Or, it could be that, just maybe, some times 31 other teams miss something about a player every now and then. Brohm may or may not have a promising future as the Bills QB. The folks that think they know that already, without even seeing him take a single snap, are as hysterical as the folks that don't even want to see him take a single snap. -
601? You must be talking about when he was thin... Haystacks

If you want a guy known for developing unknowns into leading QBs, look no further than... Texas Tech quarterbacks under Mike Leach How Mike Leach keeps producing prolific passers I'd love to see what Leach could do with Brohm - and the Bills WRs. -
He did lay on a 'bone-crushing' hit in last week's Chief's game. Gotta see what he looks next season like after taking part on all the OTAs, training camp, and preseason before we can say 'bust' or not, I think.

With Washington and St. Louis in dire need of a QB
The Senator replied to LABills08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Having Edwards and Fitzpatrick BOTH nursing ankle injuries might be the best thing that could happen - Perry Fool will now be FORCED (kicking and screaming all the way, to be sure) to take a look at and probably start Brian Brohm, who is likely the most talented QB on the Bills roster at the moment. -
Bob DeNiro too. Personally, I can't stand Kevin Bacon - particularly after seeing Sleepers. That's why I love the restaurant scene. Also liked... He Said, She Said ...especially when Elizabeth Perkins flings the coffee mug at Bacon's head.

Most important quality in next HC?

Sit on a potato pan, Otis. -
I agree - it was like someone stuck a balloon with a pin after we recovered the onsides kick. It seemed like Perry Fool just threw in the towel at that point. As for Maybin, his prolonged holdout probably ruined any chance to be an 'impact player' this season - we'll have to wait until next Fall to see how bad he really sucks. Hopefully, full participation in OTAs, training camp, and preseason make a difference.

$10 Million dollars on the table and no one wants it?
The Senator replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For half of that money, they could get... Mike Leach -
Give Jason Peters a couple more years...
-
I would't put too much credence in that source - the 2009 NFL minimum salary for rookies is $310K, and Brohm's not a rookie.

Guy's from Kentucky, not Los Gatos - I'm guessin' his ride looks something like this... link

Actually, we were running the ball very effectively - that first offensive series was 'textbook' clock-eating, smash-mouth ground game, right until Perry Fool decided to get all Mularkey and bring in a rookie OL Andre Ramsey - as a Tight End - and promptly kill a sure TD drive with an offsides penalty. After that drive, the Bills pretty much stopped - or slowed - their running attack with Perry Fool's Mularkey-esque 'they think we're gonna run, so let's pass' strategy.

Sorry...my bad...I thought for sure you would have caught the reference to the weasel himself... Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan

You don't have a Brohm jersey yet? WTF??? Yeah, I agree that how he plays (if he plays) in the final 2 games won't provide the decisive criteria on whether he's the QB of the future - but if he does get some game time and looks poised, decisive, accurate, and effective, well that would be something we haven't seen at the QB position in some time. We already know what we've got in Fitzpatrick, and Edwards' NFL career is over. Give Brohm some playing time. Its one of the few things in which Bills fans can take interest the last 2 games. JMO.

What's absolutely astounding is that there are actually some who DON'T want to see how Brohm looks! Give the guy a start, and lets see if there's any semblance of the former Heisman candidate...

For the life of me, I can't understand why Perry Fool chose to substitute Fanning Fan Edwards - a QB that Fool himself benched - to 'provide a spark' in the Bills offense, when he could have taken a look at former Heisman candidate Brohm. Two sacks and one completion for minus-1 yards, Perry - not quite the 'spark' you were looking for, I'm guessin'. Me thinks we'll see Brohm play this Sunday against the Falcons. -
Er...um....in case you been sleeping under a log or something, JP Losman plays for the Oakland Raiders... Link - Oakland Raiders sign quarterback J.P. Losman Former New York Giants coach Jim Fassel believes that J.P. Losman could be successful with the Oakland Raiders if he's given the opportunity to play... Fassel is coach of the newly-crowned UFL champion Las Vegas Locomotives, with whom Losman was the starting quarterback this fall. The veteran coach believes that the strong-armed quarterback has what it takes to return to form in the NFL. "J.P. is a solid guy and talented quarterback," Fassel told FanHouse in a phone interview Wednesday night. "He is certainly battle-tested. Most of all, though, I'm very impressed with his work ethic, desire to be good and really work at his trade and be better." Fassel also admitted that three teams were ready to sign Losman if the Raiders did not but declined to specify which ones. Link - Fassel: Losman Can Thrive With Raiders Meanwhile, it used to be that Fanning Fan Edwards couldn't finish a season w/out injury (he's played only one complete season since high school) - NOW the candyass can't even finish a series without an owie! Good luck in your next career, Trent, whatever it is you chose to do after your brief and awful impersonation of a pro quarterback.

Grimm, Billick, Martz
The Senator replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was classic Leach, eh? "Well when you're down with the brothers, like I am..." Seriously, out of the 3 I'd have to go with Grimm. First, I was living in DC for Superbowl 17 when Grimm was in his prime, and second - as Leach says, "It doesn't matter what offense you run, whether you run every snap, run the option, pass - the most important position is offensive line. You can't do anything without a good offensive line, and the more they can handle for you, the more margin of error you have all the way around." Who better to build a strong o-line than a guy who knocks heads together while blocking two at a time???? Grimm (I love that photo) -
Did you just call me a weasel?

Four years? FOUR YEARS???? Hah! This is Buffalo. More that a few have already called him a bust - a washed-up piece of crap that no one else wants (i.e., Cynical, Thurman#1, et al) without seeing him play a single down! He's got 2 weeks.
