  1. I would have thought exactly the same, until TG pulled up his WNY roots and became a tax exile in the Sunshine State. Now the guy's shtuppin' Monica Seles (read '$high$-maintenance') and throwing around huge sums of money on political concerns and vendettas, so I'm not as confident of his commitment to keeping the 'bres in The BuffTown. Balsillie's tried to buy the Penguins, Predators, and Coyotes - if he waives enough $$$ at Tommy G., who knows???? JMO.
  2. And you don't think Tommy G. would sell the team for the right ROI?
  3. Probably not, since he turned them down as well... Sources: Harbaugh rejects overtures I think another poster had it right when he opined that it's a crucial time in college recruiting, and Harbaugh probably wanted to make a very public commitment to Stanford for the sake of his recruiting efforts. Interestingly, another college coach's name is being widely proffered in the Oakland rumor-mill, that of The Captain himself... Mike Leach
  4. Well, I don't see Ralph's name on the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, or Roswell Park CI, but maybe you can tell me where it is since you apparently have access to the inner recesses of Ralph's mind. You don't suppose maybe he donates to hospice and cancer treatment & research because he lost a daughter to cancer, no? And I'm sure Kevin Everett would prefer RW continue funding spinal research rather than government pork, but thanks anyway for that insight into Ralph's inner psyche, and what motivates the man. You have a gift. Tell me, do you have that same view into everyone's inner thoughts, or just Wilson's?
  5. Sure. Didn't you see RW down there on the field, immobilizing KE's head and spine, loading Kevin in the ambulance, then hopping in the driver's seat and speeding off the field to Millard Fillmore Gates Circle? Link - Everett´s innovative treatment connected to team owner Ralph Wilson´s philanthropic work
  6. Well that certainly belongs in the category of 'Dumbest TSW Posts Ever'. RW could have moved the team to Seattle in 1970. He could have moved them to LA to fill the void left by the Rams (and filled his pockets) when Georgia Frontierre sold LA out for St. Louis in the 90's - the NFL would love to have a team in LA. He could have pulled a 'Bob Irsay' - packing up and moving in the middle of the night like Irsay did with the Baltimore Colts in 1984 - or pulled an 'Art Modell' and gotten a $300M+ new stadium and $50M+ cash to use at his discretion, like Modell did with the Cleveland Browns-turned-Baltimore Ravens in 1996. But guess what? The Bills are still here, in the 2nd smallest TV market in the league, still right where they started 50 years ago. How many times has Al Davis moved/threatened to move the Raiders in that same 50-year period? Yep, that's ol' Ralph, just lookin' out for himself.
  7. Good Lord, what's Jason Peters gonna do?
  8. You're not sure? Maybe the folks at the St. John Fisher Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education can help you decide... RCWSOE If not, try Hospice Buffalo... Mary & Ralph Wilson Hospice Inpatient Unit & Counseling Ctr If you're still not sure, ask some of the folks at Hunter's Hope, The Mayo Clinic, Roswell Park, Cleveland Clinic, University of Miami, etc., etc. RCW Medical Research Foundation If you're not sure after all that, ask Kevin Everett - it was RW-funded research and treatment of spinal injuries that saved Kevin from paralysis. I'm sooooo freakin' tired of folks raggin' on Ralph - particularly when all they care about is a freakin' football team and their own self-interest, but are seemingly in the dark about all of RW's humanitarian contributions to WNY and beyond. I wonder how many remember that, in the late 80's/early 90's, Boston almost lost the Cheatriettes* to St. Louis, then Memphis, and then nearly to Hartford? I'll bet Wilson DOES have ideas, if not an actual plan, to help the Bills remain and survive in WNY, but to say he OWES us one is ridiculous. Art Modell, Georgia Frontiere, Bob Irsay, Al Davis, and many other NFL owners in much larger markets than BuffTown would have cashed-out and moved the Bills YEARS ago. Again, JMO. Folks are welcome to disagree. (But they'd be wrong. )
  9. Gee, maybe that's why he'd be a 'real value' if he dropped to round 2? (Isn't the title of this thread "Opinion time...what starting OTs will be available in the SECOND round? Hey Astrobot - are you sure you didn't mean the 5th round? )
  10. Not really sure why it's necessary to 'dance on his grave' - even Tim Graham surprised me a bit, complaining that the Bills waited until after the late-nite newscast to announce the move. Guy made some good moves, and a lot of bad ones. You could say the same for just about everyone at OBD. So now Buddy Nix is making the moves folks said they wanted. Guy's gone - that's good, I guess, but losing your job is humiliating enough. Let the man have his dignity, ferchrissakes. JMO.
  11. What, no love for Texas LT... Adam Ulatoski??? Can't decide if he looks more like Art Donovan or Curly Howard, but you know they'd love him in Cheektowaga.
  12. Not really - doesn't matter who lines up at QB - it's still tough to throw lying on your back... link
  13. Yep, Billy Sullivan AND Al Davis owe Ralph...BIG-TIME - especially Al, who got a $400K 'float' from RW to keep the Raiders franchise and the AFL alive... link
  14. Now wait minute - you're saying that the players, coaches, and staff didn't work for free? The uniforms, medical supplies, practice equipment, filming equipment, etc. wasn't donated? You don't expect me to believe that Ralph actually had to pay for the entire team's travel, meal, and hotel expenses, do you?
  15. I think most of us know that there are other cities and counties that would have given RW much more - like Los Angeles, Seattle, Memphis, et al. Ralph Wilson has always been against franchise moves - even voted against his best buddy Art Modell moving the Browns when Baltimore promised Modell a new $300M+ stadium (link) and $50M cash (link). Wilson could have easily gotten a sweeter deal than that from Los Angeles any time he wanted, but kept the Bills here. As far as a succession plan, he owes us nothing - yet he still works to keep the franchise viable in the 2nd smallest market in the NFL (link). Best thing RW could have done to keep the team here in the short term is the Toronto deal - being obligated to play there for five years keeps the team from going anywhere. Beyond that, who knows?
  16. You what??? You whinse???? Oh boy....
  17. Folks don't hate Chan Gailey - at least I don't think they do - but rather they hate the choice of Chan Gailey, probably because the Bills FO stupidly raised everyone's expectations so high we were under the impression that a real 'marquee name' coach was on the way. When the Bills started dropping names like Shanahan, Cowher, Harbaugh, etc., they were not expecting to be rebuffed by all of them, and - probably unwittingly, like most decisions at OBD - set the fans up to be disappointed. And Nix can deny this, or spin things 'til he's blue in the face, but Bills fans are not stupid - when Nix says that Gailey was the only candidate he invited to meet the owner, that was because all the other candidates said, "No thanks," not because the Bills wouldn't extend the invite. (BTW - Harbaugh also declined the Raiders HC opportunity, if that makes anyone feel better - link) My gut reaction to the Chan Gailey announcement was disgust & disappointment, probably because wishful thinking had me believing that with each candidate's refusal, we were getting closer to at least interviewing... Mike Leach ...but also because RW/RB fed us delusions of grandeur, a expectaions for a marquee name, and hopes for a quick fix. A day after the announcement, I've looked more closely at Chan Gailey's history and coaching resume - especially his experience as a QBs coach and OC - and I don't feel nearly so bad. I'm back on-board, and think Chan Gailey might just be the guy to 'right the ship'... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! The Buffalo Bills are CHAN-TASTIC!!!!!
  18. Makes no sense at all - just like taddgirly!
  19. He wasn't talking about the 'definition' of insanity - he was talking about the "DEFITION". (At least that's what the knucklehead typed. )
  20. Thanks, Einstein. Care to share with us what the definition of "defition" is?
  21. You mean this one? link Yeah I saw it, along with the rest of his insults. School bus must have just dropped him off.
  22. Idiot? Who's the idiot? People is Buffalo?
  23. You left out the most likely of pirates... Mike Leach
