A Couple Of Draft Day Thoughts
The Senator replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am hoping upon hope that tonite's Ch. 7 newcast begins with an Irv Weinstein-esque, "Newest Buffalo Bill Bryan Bulaga betters Bills' hopes for coming season..." -
Why the bills WONT take a QB tonight
The Senator replied to JimBob2232's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stranger things have certainly happened, but I sure hope not tonite - I think the price would be too high. We've got 9 picks - we have to make the most of all of them and try to get 9 good players. It's well-known that I can't stand Clausen and think he'll be the next Matt Leinart, and I do think Tim Tebow will be there for us in the 2nd. -

Bingo. The only way the Bills take a QB tonite would be if they could somehow maneuver to get Bradford. -
A Couple Of Draft Day Thoughts
The Senator replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With the #9 pick in the 2010 NFL entry draft, the Buffalo Bills select Eric Berry, Safety, Tennessee. (Sorry, Bill - had to do it! ) -
Assuming Sam Bradford is gone, Bryan Bulaga is gone, and the exepected rush on OTs actually occurs, I'd be OK with Dan Williams at #9 - though like most others, I think he's more a mid-late first rounder or early 2nd rounder.
-
The Bills need to focus on building the best, biggest, meanest O-line in the league... "It doesn't matter what you run...whether you run it every snap, run the option, throw it - the most important position is offensive line. You can't do anything without a good offensive line, and the more that they handle, the more margin-of-error you have all the way around." - Mike Leach That's why I predict that the Bills will take Bryan Bulaga, Left Tackle, Iowa.

Tim Tebow claims he knows who will draft him
The Senator replied to LGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NFL coach closest to Tebow would be Bills' nemesis Bill Belicheat*, who* is very tight with Urban Meyer, has visisted Florida's spring practices every year for the last few years, and probably has had many personal conversations with Tebow during those years. Belicheat* also has no problem with a 'spread' QB, since NE* has been running a spread offense for the last few seasons. Brady* is aging and the Cheatriettes* will have to start thinking about his* ineveitable replacement in 2-3 years - perfect scenario for them* to take Tebow and spend 2-3 years grooming him, then trade Brady* to Buffalo for a first round pick when they feel Tebow is ready and Brady* has almost nothing left in the tank. NE* also happens to have 3 second round draft picks - I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them* use their* #44, #47, or #51 pick on Tebow unless the Bills grab him first with our #41 pick. -

Mister Dean was such a great guy. RIP Tony. Anyone who has encountered 'The Dean' should know that his love of life, his humor, kindness, generosity, and wit all come in no small part from his dad. Tried to reach you last evening, Deano -- will call later today. -

I call BULLSCHITT on the 'Bulaga's a RT' nonsense! Equally ridiculous is any notion that Spiller is first-round material. There's been a recent onslaught of ersatz draft pundits (really just poseurs pretending to be 'pundits') branding Bulaga a right tackle, and I really can't figure out why since I don't think he's ever played the position... 2007 - a top 5 OT prospect nationally in H.S., Bulaga started left guard for Iowa as a 'true freshman' (he did not 'red shirt') 2008 Season (sophomore season) - named co-first team left tackle following spring practice . . . started at left tackle in 46-3 opening win over Maine as offense rushed for 245 yards and gained 457 yards total offense . . . started at left tackle in 42-0 win over Florida International as offense rushed for 241 yards and gained 512 yards total offense . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 17-5 win over Iowa State . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 21-20 loss at Pittsburgh . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 22-17 loss to Northwestern as offense gained 407 yards total offense . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 16-13 loss at Michigan State . . . started at left tackle in 45-9 win at Indiana as offense rushed for 227 yards and gained 422 yards total offense . . . started at left tackle in 38-16 win over Wisconsin as offense rushed for 254 yards . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 27-24 loss at Illinois . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 24-23 win over third-ranked Penn State . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 22-17 win over Purdue as offense gained 248 net rushing yards . . . started at left tackle in 55-0 win at Minnesota as offense rushed for 222 yards and gained 483 yards total offense . . . started a t left tackle in 31-10 Outback Bowl win over South Carolina as offense gained 328 yards total offense. 2009 Season (junior season)- Started 10 games at left tackle, missing three early season games due to a thyroid condition . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 17-16 win over Northern Iowa . . . did not see action in 35-3 win at Iowa State . . . did not see action in 27-17 win over Arizona . . . did not see action in 21-10 win at Penn State . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 24-21 win over Arkansas State as offense gained 420 yards total offense . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 30-28 win over Michigan . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 20-10 win at Wisconsin . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 15-13 win at Michigan State . . . started at left tackle in 42-24 win over Indiana as offense gained 480 yards total offense . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 17-10 loss to Northwestern . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 27-24 loss at Ohio State as offensive line allowed just one QB sack . . . started at left tackle in 12-0 win over Minnesota . . . started at left tackle in 24-14 Orange Bowl win over Georgia Tech as offense gained 403 yards total offense. (I'd love to see the hi-lites of BB as the RT everyone says he is, but there are none since he never played the position) Furthermore, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz is widely respected in the NFL for how he coaches his linemen. He was an offensive line coach from the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens from 1993-98 and is known to be relentless on his Iowa linemen. Most scouting reports I've read state that it's pretty much a given, coming from a Ferentz-coached Iowa team, that Bulaga will have flawless mechanics and be able to either start at LT immediately, or move there very quickly. So I'm just curious - what exactly makes you say Bulaga's a right tackle? (Put me down for Bulaga at #9, Dan Williams at #41, and Tebow in round 3.) -
Bills #1 Pick Coming Down To...............
The Senator replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need either a new QB, or for one of our QBs to step up big time. In order for any QB to succeed, we desperately need to build a top-notch -big, nasty, nail-spitting o-line by drafting guys like Bryan Bulaga and Brandon Carter. Un.til that happens, NO quarterback will succeed here That's why logic dictates that the Bills, with the #9 overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft, will select Eric Berry, Safety, Tennessee. -
Wow, there you have it - the definitive word on wanker-punk Clausen. I guess if it's written by some schmo named Joseph Hoffman and it's posted on WalterFootball.com, well then it's most certainly all incontrovertible fact. Who the !@#$ is Joseph Hoffman, anyway, besides just another Clausen knob-gobbler? Sounds like just another freakin' moron to me, 'cause he lost me at the 2nd sentence... "At this point, if you still aren't a Jimmy Clausen fan, you just have some irrational hatred either for him personally or for Notre Dame, because there is no logical reason not to have him as a top-10 player in the 2010 NFL Draft and easily the most sure-fire quarterback in the class." In other words, if I don't agree that Clausen's just the greatest, think he'll be the next Matt Leinart, don't want the Bills to draft him, and don't want to blow him, I have an irrational hatred of him?

I wouldn't want to be seen driving this cheap ass car...
The Senator replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Spot on - who (besides SKOOOOOOOBY) wants a $$$quarter million$$$ production-line built BMW, wrapped in an absolutely hideous British skin? The car - like all RR's since they left Crewe - looks like sh_t. If you ask me, VW got the better part of that deal when they acquired Bentley - and they're doing a much better job with that marque. -

All this is moot unless he's there at #9 and the Bills pick him, but comparing Bulaga to Gallery isn't really a good comparison - Gallery was a tight end thruout H.S. and, after his red-shirt season, began as a TE at Iowa before converting to RT, then moved to LT. While he played some TE in H.S., Bulaga was a top OT prospect, started at left guard as a true freshman, was named co-first-team LT as a sophomore, and started every game thereafter at LT (save for the 3 games he missed with the thyroid condition). Bulaga's definitely more of a true pedigreed LT than Gallery, IMHO. (That said, if the Bills don't get him, I wholeheartedly agree with you - he sucks.)

For those who think Bills' fans get outa control...
The Senator replied to The Senator's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Now that you mentioned it, there IS a slight resemblance... wanker punk jersey punk -
Sorry about the jersey thing, but he was little help last season so what makes you think he can help now that he's a year older? Anyone else lining up to pay him $5M? (BTW - TO and Trent Edwards throwbacks are on sale at my local Tops for 15 bucks. Says something about Fanning-Fan's future - or at least his popularity - as a Bill, no?)
-
See I think the reason for the hate is that he looks alternatively like a wanker-punk and an ostrich... wanker punk ostrich Personally, I don't like wanker-punks or ostriches. So I guess you're right - it's personal.

Possibly this part... 2009 Season - Started 10 games at left tackle, missing three early season games due to a thyroid condition . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 17-16 win over Northern Iowa . . . did not see action in 35-3 win at Iowa State . . . did not see action in 27-17 win over Arizona . . . did not see action in 21-10 win at Penn State . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 24-21 win over Arkansas State as offense gained 420 yards total offense . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 30-28 win over Michigan . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 20-10 win at Wisconsin . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 15-13 win at Michigan State . . . started at left tackle in 42-24 win over Indiana as offense gained 480 yards total offense . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 17-10 loss to Northwestern . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 27-24 loss at Ohio State as offensive line allowed just one QB sack . . . started at left tackle in 12-0 win over Minnesota . . . started at left tackle in 24-14 Orange Bowl win over Georgia Tech as offense gained 403 yards total offense. 2008 Season - Listed as co-first team left tackle following spring practice . . . started at left tackle in 46-3 opening win over Maine as offense rushed for 245 yards and gained 457 yards total offense . . . started at left tackle in 42-0 win over Florida International as offense rushed for 241 yards and gained 512 yards total offense . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 17-5 win over Iowa State . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 21-20 loss at Pittsburgh . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 22-17 loss to Northwestern as offense gained 407 yards total offense . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 16-13 loss at Michigan State . . . started at left tackle in 45-9 win at Indiana as offense rushed for 227 yards and gained 422 yards total offense . . . started at left tackle in 38-16 win over Wisconsin as offense rushed for 254 yards . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 27-24 loss at Illinois . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 24-23 win over third-ranked Penn State . . . started at left tackle and played every offensive down in 22-17 win over Purdue as offense gained 248 net rushing yards . . . started at left tackle in 55-0 win at Minnesota as offense rushed for 222 yards and gained 483 yards total offense . . . started a t left tackle in 31-10 Outback Bowl win over South Carolina as offense gained 328 yards total offense. link You mean Iowa HC/former NFL O-line Coach Kirk Ferentz??? Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz is widely respected in the NFL for how he coaches his linemen. As for the 'short arms', I've read scouting reports describing his 'huge wingspan' (his arms are the same length as Jake Long's and Jason Peters')... Bulaga is 6'3, 315 pounds and demonstrates good technique. Bulaga is a heady player with a great understanding of how to play his position that comes from playing under head coach Kirk Ferentz. Ferentz was Iowa's offensive line coach in the 80's and held the same position in the NFL for six years before taking the head coaching job at Iowa in 1999. Bulaga isn't the fastest lineman in this year's draft, but he'll give 100% of himself on every play and is quick and mobile enough to keep up with speed rushers. Bulaga does a great job recognizing blitzes, stunts and other defensive schemes. He's great in both pass and run protection and will make that second block up field on running plays. Bulaga also takes angles well and rarely lets a defender get an angle or leverage on him. There are those who consider his 33.25" arms too short, but Bulaga isn't concerned. "I've never really had a problem with my short arms, I guess," he said according to the Des Moines Register. "I never really got myself in a position where I thought, 'Gosh, I wish my arms were longer.'" link Yet most 'draft gurus' rate him as the #2 or #3 OT available in this draft. Not all that surprising that there was little talk of him until he declared for this year's draft - he's a 3rd year player who didn't red-shirt and is coming out early after his junior year, so it's not shocking that the 'draft gurus' weren't 'talking him up' after his sophomore season. But still... 2008 (Sophomore) Season - Listed as co-first team left tackle following spring practice . . . Second team all-Big Ten by league coaches . . . honorable mention all-Big Ten by league media . . . first team all-Big Ten by Phil Steele's College Football . . . second team Sophomore all-American by CollegeFootballNews.com . . . Hustle Team Award, offense 2007-Named to the Freshman all Big Ten Team by the Sporting News. High School-Parade Magazine, Prep Star Magazine and East West All American. USA Today second team all American. The IHSFCA, Chicago Tribune and the Champaign News Gazette first team all state, Suburban Catholic Conference and Northwest Herald Area Player of the Year, Chicago Sun Times first team all area, first team all area and all conference. link I would hope so - he'll keep our QB's back off the turf for the next 10 seasons or so.

Big Ben-Suspension Imminent + Trade Speculation
The Senator replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't really want a twice-accused rapist on our team. Highly unlikely that Tim Tebow will ever be arrested on rape charges, or suspended for any sort of off-field conduct so if I'm Buddy Nix, I'll take OT Bryan Bulaga with the #9 pick, and Tebow with the #41 pick (unless DT Dan Williams is still there - then I take my chances that TT will still be there in round 3 and grab the big nose tackle in round 2). And if we 'miss out' on Tebow, I still think Brian Brohm has plenty of 'upside' if our O-line can keep him off his back. (And hey, Graham Harrell's still available too ) -
