ESPN Thoughts on Brohm when he was drafted
The Senator replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amazing - two weeks ago you were clamoring, "OMFG, the Bills MUST draft an elite QB (specifically Clausen) or we are DOOOOOOOOOMED!!!!!!!!!", and now, in one of the fastest 'about-faces' I've ever seen on TSW, you're a Brohm fan! Meanwhile, the incredibly prescient Senator was probably the very first on TSW to proclaim that the Bills will eschew a high-round, high-priced, unproven college QB (and probable lengthy holdout) and put their future in Brohm's hands... Link 1 - The Incredibly Prescient Senator Link 2 - More Senatorial Prescience Anyway, welcome aboard - nice to have you on the Bills/Brohm Bandwagon! BTW - don't know specifically how Nix had him ranked, but here's what College Football News said about BB prior to the '08 draft... Brian Brohm, QB Louisville - The brother of former New York Jet Jeff Brohm was groomed to be a pro passer. He's as NFL ready as any quarterback prospect having been a star for his entire career. The pressure was on from day one to produce, and he did. He's not the greatest athlete and his arm is just average, but he can make the throws needed. The big issue will be his durability. While he's an abnormally quick healer, he suffered a few major injuries throughout his career and can't be counted on for a full 16-game NFL slate. He took his lumps in a disappointing senior season, at least for Louisville, and that could be a good thing; he never quit on his team during a dud year. CFN Projection: Late First Round (link) -
ESPN Thoughts on Brohm when he was drafted
The Senator replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Check your facts - Buddy Nix was most certainly 'on the scene'. (After being employed by the Bills from 1993-2000, Nix joined John Butler in San Diego, first as Director of Pro Player Personnel, then - after Butler's death - as Asst. GM, before being rehired by the Bills as National Scout in January 2009). In fact, Nix was probably the one most responsible for acquiring Brohm - most likely as a reaction to the disaster that was Dick Jauron, particularly Jauron's naming Edwards the starter and stubbornly refusing to bring in a veteran QB to 'push' Edwards or give him any competition for the starting job). -
Why Buffalo didn't go after a big name QB
The Senator replied to Pete_C79's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Also not to mention the history of ND QB busts in the NFL, i.e., Rick Mirer, Brady Quinn - expect to see Wanker-Punk Clausen's name added to that list in a few years, if not sooner (Emu-Man is my top pick for 'Rookie Most Likely to Receive the Troy Vincent Treatment' from one of his own teammates). -
Bills standing pat at QB..........for a reason.
The Senator replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess you're right, if moving from Edwards/Fitz to Brohm/Brown = 'standing pat', but given the # of posts saying the Bills are 'sticking with Edwards' or 'Trent Edwards is named the starter', I'm growing more and more curious - exactly what part of... "Every position, including QB, is wide open to competition," or... "Right now we've got 3 QBs on the roster - we'd like to add a fourth before camp opens," (which they've now done) ...or the fact that the Bills drafted a QB in the 7th round that they are extremely high on, and that many knowledgeable scouts and pundits have called getting Levi Brown in round seven 'one of the great steals of this year's draft', seems to be interpreted as... "The Bills are 'standing pat' at QB" ???? -
Vote of Confidence in Edwards

With apologies to the late Sen. Lloyd Bensten, "Mr. Edwards, I knew Joe Montana...Joe Montana was a friend of mine...Mr. Edwards, you're no Joe Montana!" -
Ross Tucker on a prior QB situation
The Senator replied to Peter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While he was defensive coordinator in Atlanta? (You're joking I'm sure, but IMO it was Donahoe trying to emulate Belicheat's* brilliant decision to unload the aging Bledsoe and his huge contract and go with the young but as-yet unproven Tom Brady* - too bad Belicheat's* got more football smarts in his toenail clippings than Donahoe could have ever dreamed of having, and that we're still paying for Whitey's ignorant arrogance) -

Don't be disappointed when the regular season begins and the depth chart reads "Brohm/Brown" at QB. BTW, Harrell will probably get an NFL tryout next year, after he finishes his 2-year stint in the CFL - maybe Buddy and Chan will give him a look if Brohm/Brown turns out badly... 19 and 0 baby!!! Sorry, my friend - Fanning Fan is ineligible for the practice squad, which makes him good as gone. FYI, I have nothing against the injury-prone child-actress fan who's managed to complete only one full season w/out injury since high school (his junior year at Stanford) - I just think he'll do much better as a marketing intern at Synopsis, and the sooner he returns there, the sooner he can get on with his life after football and the sooner Bills fans can forget his dismal days here. BTW, interesting that you feel that way about Levi Brown - the Bills are actually quite high on the kid, as is Mike Mayock... NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock had some pretty interesting comments on Bills seventh round pick QB Levi Brown. “Buffalo finally got a QB in Levi Brown from Troy,” wrote Mayock on his NFL draft chat after losing his voice. ”I believe he’s been undervalued all along... Mayock feels Brown can come in as a backup as a rookie with the potential to be more than that down the line. ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay had Brown as his sixth best QB prospect, but 10 QBs were drafted ahead of him. (Link - Mayock likes QB Brown) -
Bills need some FAs to get serious
The Senator replied to Cal Bill's Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You mean besides the 14 FAs they signed w/in an hour after the draft, including... Sean Allen, C, East Carolina, 6'3"/308 lbs Cordaro Howard, G, Georgia Tech, 6'4"/315 lbs Kyle Mutcher, C/G, Weber State, 6'3"/292 lbs Jorge Guerra, LT, Texas A&M, 6'3"/302 lbs -

2011 Bills first round draft choice ??
The Senator replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure, if he's as 'great' as Wanker-Punk Clausen! But why would we draft a QB when we'll already have the best 1-2 combination in the NFL in Brohm/Brown? 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! REVERSE THE CURSE!!!!! -
Sat next to Allen Wilson flying back from the NE road game 2 years back - one of my more uncomfortable flights in recent memory...they really should make the guy pay for 2 seats!

Round 7, Pick #216: OT Kyle Calloway - Iowa
The Senator replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OOPS...four years of Cornell, down the drain, I guess!!! Colour me 'embarrassed' - just goes to show ya...don't drink and draft! Obviously the guy's extremely astute, to have stayed one MPH under that benchmark - wonder what his Wonderlic score was? (Still think this Cab Calloway guy's gonna be a ball...heidi heidi heidi ho...heebee heebee heebee ha...) -
Round 7, Pick #216: OT Kyle Calloway - Iowa
The Senator replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If that's the case, wouldn't it have been 'Aggravated DUI' (more than twice the speed limit)? Seriously though - I'll bet this guy's a ton o' fun to be around - just the thought of a 325 lb., 6' 6" OT riding a moped makes me LOL. Doing it with a beer in one hand invokes an image of hilarity! -
Trade up for Clausen
The Senator replied to Formerly BF_in_Indiana's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And what would you give up in terms of players/draft picks just to move up 5 or 6 spots in round 2? There's a reason Clausen's still on the board - he's a punk with attitude issues, and folks also saw what happened with the last supposedly NFL-ready Charlie Weis-coached QB from Notre Dame. Clausen's the next Matt Leinart. JMO. We're supposedly going to a 3-4 defense and need a NT - the Bills should grab Terrence Cody before NE* uses one of their* three round 2 picks on him to replace Wilfork*, then go to OT Rodger Saffold in round 3. -
Probably because Boston's full of competent sports writers and Sullivan would never be able to 'cut it' there. (Dude's from Rhode Island, but apparently couldn't find work in NE and wrote for the Binghamton Sun-Bulletin and the Syracuse Herald-Journal before joining The Snooze.)

Anyone have info on Spiller's blocking skills?
The Senator replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to agree that his play-making ability can help compensate for the lack of a road-grading o-line - he'll make our QB, whomever that ends up being, look better. -
I'm done with mocks. (Though if Cody is there, I think we should take him - we can't go to a 3-4 w/out a NT, and Cody's a run-stuffer who will also occupy so much space that he'll consume multiple opposing o-linemen.) At this point, I simply predict that whatever 'Nevergiveup' says will happen will surely come to pass.

the big questions now - 1) will the bills find a partner to get back into the first round, and 2) will lynch be a buffalo bill tomorrow? (my guesses are yes to #1 and no to #2) wonder how far bulaga drops? -
Now how would anyone know if Bulaga's a good RT? (Guy started at Left Guard as a true freshman (did not 'red shirt'), and was named starting LT after Spring practice his sophomore year - he's never played at Right Tackle!)
