  1. From a starting QB point of view, I would take Harrell over Edwards! (Sorry )
  2. Like I said, at the same point in his career, Warner was stocking shelves and bagging groceries for $5.50/hr., before going on to be a 3x-league MVP/4x-ProBowler/2x-Superbowl Champ and Superbowl MVP. (After trying out for the Packers in '94 he was released and, since no other NFL team would give him a chance, worked at a Hy-Vee store until he took a shot at Arena Football in '95 - at least Harrell managed to stay in the game, and is now getting a 2nd look from Mariucci). I hear Leach is interviewing at A&M
  3. HAPPY NATAL ANNIVERSARY, YOUNGSTER!!!!! Cheers
  4. He does have another year on his CFL contract, but the Browns invited him to throw at their rookie camp. I'd guess he'd eschew the last year of his contract with the Roughriders for a shot at the NFL. Yeah, we could try to grab him off their practice squad same as we did with Brohm and the Packers, but it looks more like we're moving in the direction of Brohm/Brown.
  5. Actually, he was in the CFL last year, and in the off-season he's a QBs coach at OSU. Ever hear of 2x-Superbowl Champ and 4x-ProBowler Kurt Warner, wiseguy? At the same point in his career, Warner was bagging groceries for $5.50/hr. Harrell was coached by one of the most brilliant offensive college coaches in the game today. Guy knows the game and the position cold, has one of the best visions of any QB you'll ever see, makes great decisions, sees the entire field and gets rid of the ball in less than 2 seconds, threw for over 4000 yards as a sophomore, over 5000 yards in both his junior and senior seasons, was 4th in Heisman voting, and holds the NCAA all-time record for passing TDs. Hear me now, believe me later - Harrell will be one of the greats, and the Bills will rue their decision to pass him over.
  6. Damn! The Bills shoulda grabbed this guy last season - he'll be an All-Pro in w/in 3 years. link
  7. Upset??? Who's upset??? Hell, I can't wait for this weekend's rookie mini-camp... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS IN CHAN WE TRUST!!!!!
  8. um, that was losman that took the cheap-shot from wilfork*
  9. Teams that are coached well and that execute well tend to make their own breaks - that said, I am very very high on Buddy Nix's/Chan Gailey's first draft, and everything else I've heard them say and see them do so far... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS IN CHAN WE TRUST!!!!!
  10. Bullsh_t. How 'bout when rosters were smaller, and guys played both ways???? (Then went and worked part time jobs in the off-season.) Today's overpaid, overhyped, overpampered Hollywood-types masquerading as pro athletes have better equipment, better trainers, better nutrition, and better medical attention, and should go take a close look at the days when NFL players were men... Art Donovan The games already have so many stoppages of play that these guys shouldn't even be winded when the game ends. A recent study showed that the average NFL game has about 11 minutes of action - assuming a fairly equal time-of-possession, that's about 5.5 minutes for the offense, and 5.5 for the defense. If these clowns can't leave it all on the field for 5.5 minutes once a week for 18 weeks, increase the roster size - the NFLPA would surely go for that. And, BTW, since most of these guys are not every-down players, save for maybe center and QB, most of 'em probably only have to exert themselves for about 4 minutes, once a week, for 18 weeks (except for the guys who stand on the sidelines the entire game and never even get their uniforms sweaty). Yeah, they got it too tough already to ask them to work another 8 minutes a season before they take the next 6 months off. (Link - Wall Street Journal) All this crap about how converting 2 preseason games to a 18-game regular season is too much strain on the poor millionaire players or that it would render old records irrelevant (I'm still waiting for one of today's clowns to rush for 2000 yards in 14 games - something that hasn't been accomplished since The Brentwood Butcher did it in 1973) is being uttered by somewhat naive folks who have a misplaced sense of sympathy and hero-worship for these overpriced, spoiled, overgrown children, or who don't pony-up hard-earned money for season tix, only to throw $200+ in the garbage can every August. JMO.
  11. And I respect your opinion, but disagree - I think the point you miss is that they're already playing 20 games (4 preseason, and 16 regular season), and that 4+16 = 2+18.
  12. You mean like when they went from 12 games to 14, or from 14 games to 16 (by cutting the preseason from 6 games to 4), or added another wild card team and another round to the playoffs???? OJ's 2003 yards in a 14 games didn't render Jim Brown's 12-game season accomplishments incomparable, and yet it still pales Eric Dickerson's 2105 yards in 16 games, IMO. An 18 game season (with only 2 preseason games) is inevitable, and it'll be better for the game and the fans. Personally, I can't stand paying full-price for a meaningless preseason game and, as far as wearing players down prior to the playoffs, doesn't Bill Polian already give his starters the last two regular-season games off? (Now that's bad for the game, IMHO.)
  13. 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! REVERSE THE CURSE!!!!!
  14. One complete season w/out injury since 2001, and you have to ask that question? Seeing as how J.P. Losman suffered with that same O-line, I'd have say that - probably due to bad decisions, lack of conditioning, stupidity, hesitation, not knowing how to land when you fall, an overall lack of toughness, whatever - Edwards is most definitely injury prone.
  15. Does a 10 pound bag of flour make a really big biscuit?
  16. Junior season, Stanford (before that, high school)
  17. I would probably agree, except the Bills QB situation is so unsettled that I truly think that Gailey WILL have a true open competition. I don't think they are predisposed toward Edwards, Fitzpatick, or Brohm (if anything, I'd guess they might have high hopes for Brohm, already knowing what they have in Fitz and Fanning-Fan) - and if I were those 3 guys, I'd get my ass to OBD next weekend for the rookie camp (voluntary for veterans) and every OTA thereafter before Levi Brown gets too much of a jump on the rest of the pack. Again, The Incredibly Prescient Senator (TIPS) predicts that, come September 12th, the pecking order will be as follows - Brian Brohm - Starting QB Bad Bad Levi Brown - Backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick - 3rd String/Clipboard Carrier Trent Edwards - Marketing Intern at Synopsys 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! REVERSE THE CURSE!!!!!
  18. On the grounds of the 5 conditions I posted above - go back and read.
  19. Now yer talkin'... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! REVERSE THE CURSE!!!!!
  20. Whether or not I agree, McShay implies one or more of the following - 1) Stanford QB Andrew Luck, having proven he's at least a 2-year wonder, will leave college early and declare his eligibility for the 2011 draft after his sophomore season 2) The Bills will either be the worst team in the NFL this season, or will somehow get the worst team to trade away the #1 overall pick 3) Both Brian Brohm and Levi Brown will prove to be so bad that the Bills will deem it necessary to start over at the QB position yet again 4) Sophomore Luck is so good he will be the #1 overall pick in next year's draft, beating out Jake Locker, all other QBs, and all players at all other positions 5) Buddy Nix will throw away his entire drafting philosophy of drafting college players with the most experience and go for the shiniest toy - even if he is the next injury-prone Fanning Fan Edwards (Luck wasn't so lucky this year, breaking his finger prior to the Sun Bowl) instead of the next Jim Plunkett or John Elway Like ByrdsDaWord said, McShay can blow him.
  21. I believe he is - in the Florida Keys, at JJ's Big Chill and Jimmy Buffet's Magaritaville
  22. If we're gonna run a spread - or an air raid - then we shoulda hired...
  23. If you're crazy, then call The Senator insane...the Bills will 'cowboy up' under the new Nix/Gailey regime... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! REVERSE THE CURSE!!!!!
  24. Nope - I called it back on Pearl Harbor Day, you hopped on the Brohm-Bandwagon only after The Incredibly Prescient Senator had already pronounced him Fanning-Fan's eventual replacement. Incontrovertible statement of fact. (But go ahead and blow your own horn - that's always been your M.O. anyway - LMFAO )
