Guys, this starting front-five is a disaster
The Senator replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This starting front-five is a disaster??? Really??? Funny, I thought they had us tied for first place and hadn't allowed a single sack Guess I'll wait to see them play a down or two before I can agree or disagree - until then... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! IN CHAN WE TRUST!!!!! -
Well now let's see - I'm not sure which one you're referring to as 'my boy', since I'm very high on both Brohm and Brown - but since they were the only 2 QBs at the minicamp, I'll guess you're referring to one of those two? So quite obviously one of those two was most certainly involved in every defensive hi-lite. Now whether they were bad throws, the result of broken or bad routes, or just the plain simple common-sense fact that in a camp like this where the defense learns the offense the same time the offense learns it, the D probably has a slight advantage, no???

Last time I saw a Bills game in B-more, I was living in Georgetown and it was against a team called the Colts at... this place Will make my annual foray into Foxboro* to watch the folks* they* call fans up there* cry in their* clam chowdah when our BuffTown Bills bash those blokes* from Boston*. Am also giving some serious thought to the Packers game, though availability of tix will probably be the limiting factor there... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! IN CHAN WE TRUST!!!!! -

Sheesh!!!! How'd all this crap get started anyway??? All I said was it'd be fun to throw these sunbelt kids outside in the cold and snow for one practice and give 'em a wee inkling of what it feels like here during the season... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! IN CHAN WE TRUST!!!!! -
My thoughts on the Bills' draft
The Senator replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds like you give them about a 3.5 -
Clearly, you weren't. Otherwise you would have known how many picks the Bills had in this year's draft, and which pick the Bills used on Levi Brown. You also would have known that - way before the draft - the Bills were probably higher on Levi Brown than any QB other than Bradford... http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?...t&p=1813389 I would do what Nix did - stuck to his draft board. Brohm's this year's starter, probably the year after that, and probably in 2012. After that, Brown will compete for the #1 spot (maybe sooner). 'Til then, sticking to the draft board while simultaneously filling their personnel needs for a playmaker on offense, an NT and DE for their new 3-4 defense, an OT, and #2 receiver makes perfect sense to me. That the QB they were higher on than anyone but Bradford was still there in round 7 is quite a bonus, and will prove to be a Buddy Nix stroke of genius. It's as logical as that. Nonsense. Total f__in' nonsense. The Bills QB situation is far from dire - TIPS has already stated that, come September 12th, the pecking order will be... Brian Brohm - Starting QB Bad Bad Levi Brown - Backup QB Ryan Fitzparrick - Clipboard Carrier/#3 QB Trent Edwards - Marketing Intern at Synopsys ...and it's a more than adequate rotation. The far more dire need for this team was at GM, HC, OC, and QBs and other position coaches on offense. Now that all those needs have been met, along with most of our player needs, TIPS says... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! IN CHAN WE TRUST!!!!!

You must be referring to Graham Harrell - no, I'm not sure Levi Brown will outshine Graham, but the careers of Tebow, Clausen, and McCoy will pale compared to Brown's.
-
Actually, he was a 5th round pick after his sophomore season in the supplemental draft in the summer of '07, which he declared for after being determined 'academically ineligible' to play at Maryland in the 2007 season. Ranked #7 at the time among OTs by The Sporting News, chances are he would have gone much higher in the following season's regular draft had he continued his college career. I'm sure the Bills will want to be satisfied about his foot and his 2009 neck injury before making any trade, but his talent is not in question.

The Senator replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to mention... Mike Leach -
Not quite - Kyle Calloway, OT, Iowa was the Bills last pick, Levi Brown was their penultimate pick. Brown was projected as a 3rd-4th round pick - the Bills had to consider him a steal when he was still around in the 7th. Who knows why a QB falls that far in the draft? Why did Tom Brady fall to round 6, or Pro Bowl QBs Warren Moon, Kurt Warner, Tony Romo, Jeff Garcia, or Jake Delhomme all go undrafted? Levi Brown is raw but ran an Air Raid style spread offense at Troy, putting up as many as 72 attempts in a game, and passing for 4250 yards and a 146 rating his senior year. Dude can certainly throw the ball, and I think Gailey and Cortez can work with the kid. Personally, I think he'll eventually outshine the first round Tim Tebow, 2nd round Jimmy Claussen, and 3rd round Colt McCoy.
-
Huh? WTF are you talking about? Where exactly did you watch Brohm play in the pros??? (Dude's had exactly 1 NFL start, with the Bills, last December, after 2 weeks practice, with a limited playlist, non-existent o-line, disinterested receivers corps, and one of the league's worst offenses. As for college, dude was a Heisman candidate and projected #1 overall pick after his junior season.)

Hardy not at mini camp...
The Senator replied to BEAST MODE BABY!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah actually don't know why ESPN has only 2009 and no 2008 stats, but Hardy WAS drafted in and played his rookie season in 2008, though rarely saw action and was placed on IR with a torn ligament in Dec. '08. (Regardless, he was eligible for the rookie camp - not sure if they had to be 'invited' but all vets 2 or fewer years were eligible, though not mandated, to participate.) Chan Gailey reiterated on Friday that participation in this weekend’s rookie minicamp was strictly voluntary for veterans with two years or fewer of accrued NFL experience. link -
Hardy not at mini camp...
The Senator replied to BEAST MODE BABY!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Possibly spending the day with mom? (Hopefully no dad - and no guns - this year. ) Anyway, despite the usual TSW nattering nabobs of negativism, Gailey seems OK with Hardy's absence, and generally pleased with veteran participation since March... Receiver James Hardy was not in attendance. He has been in town since offseason conditioning started in March. Gailey said Hardy had a personal commitment...Gailey on veteran participation in offseason workouts: "Excellent. Our guys have worked very hard. On the whole they have done a great job. Obviously guys have things they have to take care of in the offseason and I certainly understand that. So you just deal with those misses and let them make them up when they can. We feel like we're getting a lot out of these guys this year." (link - Gailey wraps up minicamp) 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! IN CHAN WE TRUST!!!!! -
Your points (the ones you edited into my quote) are good ones - all except that there was no lock, plenty of daylight (Adam James was placed in the wide-open equipment garage in question to keep him out of the direct sunlight and heat with the overhead door fully opened), a working ice machine and running water, and at various points was found resting on the floor, drinking water, and chatting on his cell phone. But I get it - you're not a big Leach fan. That's OK - neither are EPSN's SMU program-killer, Craig 'I'll Play-for-Pay' James after Leach scolded Craig's spoiled-brat kid, nor TT Chancellor Kent Hance and AD Gerald Myers after being outflanked by Leach in last year's contract negotiations... 'According to the filing, former regent Windy Sitton sent an email to Board of Regents Vice Chair Jerry Turner saying the Kent Hance was arrogant and Gerald Myers was inept. She also says that she knew the firing of Leach had been in the works since the chancellor (Kent Hance) and the AD (Gerald Myers) were out maneuvered by Mike Leach...Wendy Sitton is one of Lubbock's most respected leaders. In addition to being a former board of regents member, she is also a former mayor of the hub city. Clearly, on December 30, 2009, Sitton believed that the firing of Mike Leach was in fact premeditated. According to the Leach legal team, lawyers for Texas Tech have admitted that they intentionally withheld this document.' (link - Texas Tech may have withheld email) Guess we'll find out who the judge believes at this Friday's hearing. But back to our Bills... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! IN CHAN WE TRUST!!!!!

Hmmmm...Al, taking up residence in the largest electoral state in the country...just an 'inconvenient coincidence'? Clearly, Al's not clipping any coupons these days - nice to see a public servant doing so well. Wonder if the earth is warming in Montecito (it's not in Buffalo, nor - apparently - in Utica), what the 'carbon footprint' is of that 5 bed/9 bath manse, and how much fresh water and energy he'll consume to fill and heat that swimming pool and run those fountains? Oh well... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! IN CHAN WE TRUST!!!!! -
