  1. Same injury that ruined Jason Peters (well, a blown-out groin plus being fat and lazy). Hopefully Byrd has a full recovery to pre-injury form.
  2. CodeMonkey is providing the C-band (6-8 GHz) satellite info, which you can only receive on a C-band dish (one of those big, old, movable dishes that you used to see on bar roofs and some backyards that can be rotated to pointed at multiple C-band satellites). Dish and DirectTV use a different, higher 11-14 GHz Ku-band frequency range and are fixed to point at only one satellite. IOW, you don't have the equipment and can't receive the signal.
  3. Isn't the answer quite obvious??? Because he sucked, and they didn't want him!
  4. What I find mind-boggling is that none ever feared a Russian missile strike. Anyone remember the Cuban missile crisis, 'duck & cover' drills and crawling under your school desks (as if that would save you from being instantly vaporized by a thermo-nuclear bomb blast), air-raid shelters/sirens, or "This has been a test of the Emergency Broadcast System - in the event of a real emergency, you would have been informed the location of the nearest nuclear fallout shelter..."
  5. See this is why Marv/Dick/Russ stockpiled all those d-backs. Prescient geniuses, they were.
  6. They could cut the distance by more than half if they'd just walk to Youngstown and swim.
  7. I predict that Mike Leach will be one of the more colorful and entertaining commentators in his new gig with CBS- but that he'll last only one year, returning the the sidelines with a BCS or NFL program after Texas Tech pays him a $5-10M settlement this Fall.
  8. Ryan Mallett May be the most interesting of the 3. Plays a pro-style offense under Bobby Petrino (who also coached Brian Brohm at Louisville). Seems a bit under-experienced and still has 2 years of eligibility left, leading me to wonder why he'd leave being starting QB, BMOC, and... THIS ...all behind to be a rookie in Buffalo. Jake Locker Seems to do as much with his feet as with his arm - that is, there seem to be as many (or more) hi-lites of Locker running out of trouble as there are of him throwing accurate passes. (Although, with our O-line, that could be a welcome and necessary asset for our starting QB.) Also, I believe Locker's already been drafted by MLB's Los Angeles Angels - I'd would be worried about him pulling an 'Elway' and refusing to come here if he's drafted by the Bills. Andrew Luck Plunkett & Elway aside, I have post-Trent Edwards reservations about Stanford QBs, plus Luck is only a junior with one year of playing experience. On the plus-side, he makes no mention of Dakota Fanning (or any other 10-year-old) being his favorite actress.
  9. "When you're young and lose weight, they say you look great," Phillips said. "When you're old and lose weight, they ask 'Are you sick?' " Having lost about 500 pounds over the course of my 50 years (I tend to play with a 30-to-40 pound yo-yo), I can attest to the truth of that statement! The new, slimmer Wade
  10. Didn't know he had been ill for some time - I'll be listening to my own Little Feat retrospective all day. RIP Richie, and Cheers!!!!
  11. er, um...to me? It says... “All jobs are still open,” Gailey said when asked specifically about the starting QB job. ”There’s no job that’s locked in right now. There are some guys that are way ahead and there are some guys that are a little bit ahead. I’m not going to talk about specific positions right now, but all the jobs are open.” Link - Gailey says QB competition still open (today, August 18, 2010) Head coach Chan Gailey was asked to outline Brian Brohm’s strengths. Here was his response. “He’s very smart. He know where to go with the football. He’s got good velocity on the ball. He just needs to work on continual accuracy,” said Gailey. ”That’s really been his only issue. He’s got good intelligence for football and understands defenses, which is part of playing quarterback, you’ve got to understand defense.” Well, accuracy, and "not being Trent Edwards"... “He’s not Trent Edwards," said Gailey. ”That’s really been his only issue--trying to be Trent. He cannot be Trent Edwards, which is part of being an NFL-caliber quarterback. You’ve got to not be Trent Edwards." So, if Gailey really thinks that part of being an NFL-caliber QB is that, "You've got to not be Trent Edwards", then logic would dictate that Gailey does NOT think Edwards is an NFL-caliber QB, no? We will see the last of Trent by the time this preseason is over. Trust me. On September 12th, the QB depth chart will read Brian Brohm - Starting QB Bad Bad Levi Brown - #2 QB Ryan Fitzpatrick - Clipboard Trent Edwards - Marketing Intern, Synopsys / President, Dakota Fanning Fan Club - Los Gatos Chapter GO BILLSSS!!!! 19 and 0 baby!!!!!
  12. I'll be the first to remind folks that the Bills went 0-4 in the 1990 preseason, then went on to a 13-3 regular season record and a Superbowl appearance - but before you go to further lengths to enlighten us about the meaningless of the preseason and implore us all to optimism, let remind you of some of the differences between then and now: 1990 - Jim Kelly (HOF), Kent Hull, Jeff Wright, Howard Ballard, Mitch Frerotte, Jim Ritcher, Glen Parker, Thurman Thomas (HOF), Kenneth Davis, Jamie Mueller, Larry Kinnebrew, Andre Reed (future HOF), James Lofton (HOF), Don Beebe, Keith McKeller, Bruce Smith (HOF), Mike Lodish, Mark Pike, Cornelius Bennett (should be HOF), Darryl Talley, Shane Conlan, Carlton Bailey, Ray Bentley, Marvcus Patton, Marv Levy (HOF), Bill Polian, etc., etc. 2010 - Trent Edwards, Geoff Hangartner, Demetrius Bell, Kirk Chambers, Eric Wood, Andy Levitre, Marshawn Lynch, Fred Jackson, CJ Spiller, Joique Bell, Lee Evans, James Hardy, David Nelson, Jonathan Stupar, Marcus Stroud, Kyle Williams, Dwan Edwards, Aaron Maybin, Paul Posluszny, Kawika Mitchell, Reggie Torbor, Keith Ellison, Andra Davis, Chan Gailey, Buddy Nix, etc., etc.
  13. Yeah, they probably will. Par for the TSW course, I guess. But kudos to Brohm for eschewing Green Bay's filthy lucre, and instead recognizing the opportunity that existed in Buffalo among the wretched refuse that is Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
  14. Speaking of 'talking out of one's ass'... The Green Bay Packers signed 2008 second-round pick QB Brian Brohm to their practice squad on Sunday. A league source said one of the reasons why Brohm passed through waivers unclaimed was because he carried a partial base salary guarantee on his contract. link BTW, one of the reasons Brohm was placed on waivers/practice squad to begin with is that, for some strange reason, the Packers decided to go with only 2 QBs and carry 6 RBs that season. Clearly, the Packers wanted Brohm - they guaranteed part of his contract and then tried to match the Bills offer - and gambled big time trying to hide him on their practice squad because Rogers and Flynn had the #1 and #2 spots locked up. By almost every scouting report, Brohm - who was a Heisman candidate and projected as the #1 overall pick by at least one scouting report in 2007 before opting to remain in college - is clearly the most promising QB prospect currently on the Bills roster. Ferchrissakes, let's see what the kid still has before writing him off just because GB's front office screwed up.
  15. Please don't tell me I've ruined Trent's chances with the DFFC!!!!!
  16. Yes, certainly prohibition solved myriad societal ills. Just ask Al Capone and the rest of 'the mob'.
  17. Clearly, you need to wrap a big spleef and toke away, as methinks you may be misinformed. I have never, EVER, seen a pot-smoker drive in the manner you describe while solely under the influence of pot. Methinks a hooched-up, laughing stuckincincy is much more likely to drift into my lane or giggle as he hits me head-on. A 'hopped-up', pot-smoking stuckincincy is much more likely to drive like this...
  18. So Chan thinks 'part of being an NFL-caliber quarterback is not being Trent Edwards' ??? I really don't understand the 'gist' of that statement - as if Brohm or ANY aspiring NFL QB would try to emulate Trent Edwards??? "You've got to 'not be Trent Edwards' " ??? Interesting. In that case, we may see the last of Trent Thursday nite.
  19. Nope - sorry dog, but I don't pay homage to DF like Fanning-Fan Edwards does on the Stanford web site... link (still think it's pretty effin' weird for a 22 y.o. PAC 10 QB to name a 10-year-old as his "favorite actress") ...nor does she meet the 'half-your-age-plus-seven' requirement - tho in my case, it's actually ('half-your-age-plus-seven') minus 10 Like Hugh Hefner, I do like 'em young - but at least old enough to drink legally!
  20. Put that coffee down. Coffee is for closers.
  21. Blackout rules apply to preseason but Toronto games have been televised anyway, as is this one. Next week's Bengals preseason game will be subject to local blackout.
  22. I've stated many times already and will repeat that, on Sept. 12, the QB 'pecking order' will be... Brian Brohm - Starting QB Bad Bad Levi Brown - #2 QB Ryan Fitzpatrick - Clipboard Trent Edwards - President - Dakota Fanning Fan Club, Los Gatos Chapter
  23. If you live in Buffalo, it's on WKBW-TV (Ch. 7). If you live elsewhere, I'm sure it's being 'beamed' back to Indianapolis, which mean it's up in the sky somewhere for the taking, if you know the C-band/Ku-Band satellite info/coordinates.
  24. Nonsense...the great State of New York has only ONE NFL football team (New Jersey teams don't count)... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! PosLUSZny!!!!!
