I guess, if nothing else, Ralph is loyal to his employees. (Nothing against Fitz, just wish it was Chan making the QB decisions.)

!@#$ you very much, Your Belligerence! A few years back, many - yourself included - used to rebuke my prediction with the response that, "No team will EVER go 19 and 0 - it'll NEVER happen!" Funny, since the Cheatriettes* went 18 and Doh! and the Saints and Colts subsequently both took a close run at perfect seasons, folks don't seem so adamant (19 and 0 baby!!! )

Remember This Name: Blake Bell *****

Here's another blue-chip H.S. QB for ya... link -
Texas Tech's Taylor Potts went 34/53, 359 yds, 4 TDs/0 INTs against SMU - and will be around in round 3 or 4. Unless we finish dead last and win the Ryan Mallett pool (which we won't), the 'gotta take a first-round QB guys' will likely be disappointed again. We're not gonna be crappy enough to draft Locker either. Luck doesn't really fit Buddy Nix's self-stated desires for draftable QBs (4 years/30 games/lots of experience & big game exposure). Kid's a red-shirt sophomore - is he even declaring for the 2011 draft? I'm thinking we'll be drafting in the mid-to-bottom half of round one - hopefully landing an OT like Gabe Carimi

Now that IS funny, BeerSphere. (I only hope Corey's got a sense of humor about the whole nightmare.)
-
I can hear it now, Doctor... "Wow, I can't believe it! What a 'Cinderella story' - who would have ever thought that, after being picked up off of Green Bay's practice squad last season, Brian Brohm would step in under such adverse circumstances early this season and lead the Buffalo Bills all the way to the Superbowl championship???" 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! PosLUSZny!!!!!
-
Good - no, GREAT for Corey! I am SOOOO happy for the guy - especially after the ordeal he went thru last off-season (and the way some here assumed his guilt and just piled on).
-
Actually, I think Tebow was the QB the Bills coveted most in the this year's draft (other than Sam Bradford, whom they had no chance of getting) and probably would've 'pulled the trigger' had he been there in round 2 (definitely in round 3). The other guy I think they liked was Skelton, but apparently thought they could get him in the 6th or 7th rounds - then had to settle for Levi Brown. And, BTW, unless Brohm comes around like I'm hoping, yes I think Tebow will ultimately be better than our current crop or QBs.
-
Wonderful - I'll assume, then, that no interest exists there in having the Bills moving to LA.
-
On GB's practice squad, which most say was their plan all along if he cleared waivers. (Just like last season, they'll keep 2 active QBs and one on their PS - that's how we were able to get our future starter, Brian Brohm.) Too bad we missed yet another chance to sign this future star - he is better by far than any QB on our roster, including Brohm. Now about those folks at OBD (and around the league) that you spoke to after the Bills-Lions game, care to name names?
-
Valid question - I'm not even sure that Smith is an upgrade over Levi Brown.
-
Oh, sorry , I thought we were just admitting THIS off-season's mistakes - if we're to go back in time... 1) I thought we'd win all 4 Superbowls, plus the 2 before that; 2) I thought Williams and Mularkey would be good coaches; 3) Believed Marv would have a great 2nd run as Bill coach; 4) Then thought he'd be a successful GM; And let's not forget the perennial... 5) 19 and 0 baby!!! Come to think, there's really very little I'm ever right about - except for one absolute, incontrovertible fact... Jason Peters IS an ungrateful, greedy, selfish, fat tub of goo with a lazy attitude and a blown-out groin - he'll never return to the Pro Bowl form that made everyone think he was so great, and Russ Brandon and the entire Bills F.O. were very wise to unload him and his overinflated contract demands on the unsuspecting Eagles. Wow, SJBF, you were right - that WAS cathartic!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! (19 and 0 baby!!!!! )

Who Has the Better Haircut?
The Senator replied to Benjamin Barker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hah! I also voted for the dog, but... -
Not to be argumentative, but I actually don't know that - and neither does anyone - since we've never seen Levi Brown play with the starting O-line, backfield, and receivers corp. If we had, if he was thrust into a starting role, he might look even better than Trent - but, again, no one really knows. Have another Actually, they still have 4 spots left to waste on him - maybe 5 if the Joique Bell-to-Tampa rumors are true.
-
Holy cow, you got sources 'deep within' OBD? As long as you're enlightening us, which other teams watched the tape of Thursday's game, and whom did you speak with on those teams that were surprised Brown got drafted???
-
Not that it's of any great consequence (except maybe to SJBF) but mea maxima freaking culpa - I was definitely wrong about this season's QB 'pecking order' (but also think Gailey wasn't 100% candid about a "wide-open" QB competition). Am still pretty sure Edwards isn't the long-term answer - too tentative, to quick to check down, too immobile, passes seem wobbly and under-thrown, etc. - guess we'll find out soon enough whether he's also too fragile. My bet is still that Brohm will be the starter by mid-season. (As proven, I'm just about always wrong on QBs - I also remember loving Edwards the first time I saw him play in preseason at RWS - although I did think Flutie was better than RJ, and still think Graham Harrell's eventually gonna be very successful, I mean wildly successful, somewhere. ) Don't know that we'll be in the position to draft Mallett, but he'd be a great one to get - maybe even better than getting Sam Bradford (yesterday Mallett was 21/24 - 87.5% - 301 yds/3 TDs/1 INT ). If we're drafting that high (I think Mallett will go #1 overall), obviously we've had another miserable year - but maybe we can have a decent enough season, show some improvement, and still be in a position to draft... Gabe Carmini Then, two years later... Meet Terrell Brown High first round QBs, especially #1 overall picks, have been risky of late - the Jake Locker-hype is particularly frightening - there's always a chance to pick up a John Skelton-type in the later rounds (Taylor Potts was 34/53, 359 yds, 4 TDs, 0 INTs tonite). Best to stick to your guns, build the lines, and know that if we do it right, eventually, some day, we'll get to... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! PosLUSZny!!!!!

I'll say this for Schmitt - guy can block... but not so sure he can catch... link You're definite right about the "nutjob" thing, though... Fun he may be, but a bit too much of a head case for me - we're fine with McIntyre.

Who's the Best coach? - sportsnew mag
The Senator replied to Bills4L's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Everyone deserves a chance, so I'll refrain from citing the most vitriolic anti-Chan web sites - suffice to say there are many Georgia Tech fans glad to see him gone. As a Bills fan, I sincerely hope we'll feel differently than they do. We'll find out soon enough, starting this Sunday... GO BILLSSS!!!! -
Why all the Brian Brohm negativity?
The Senator replied to Original Byrd Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't understand it either, as I don't really consider Gailey's 'open competition' to be anything but a coaching ploy to motivate all the QBs and don't really think we as fans ever got a good look at Brohm with the starting unit - but I expect we'll all have a much better understanding of how Brohm looks with the #1's by week 5... GO BILLSSS!!!! -
http://www.nfl.com/transactions At the top (where it says sort by month) select september 2010 - you'll see who everyone added to their ps today, keep scrolling down and you'll get to yesterday's cuts.
-
Don't know that Coffman has actually cleared waivers yet (hasn't been 24 hours and the Bengals re-signed Coffman to their practice squad - we can still claim him off their PS (doubt they'd offer to sign him to their active roster - they have 3 TEs now and don't know who they'd cut to make room for a fourth).
-
Anybody worth "dumster diving" for???
The Senator replied to Merle Haggard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Haven't seen anyone claim TE Chase Coffman yet - don't know that he can help right away, but was the most productive pass-catching TE in NCAA history and gotta be better than JP 'Iron-Hands' Foschi. (Despite Foschi's stints with 7 NFL teams in 6 years, guess Gailey likes those Georgia Tech guys.) After waving him yesterday, Bengals named Coffman to their practice squad today - but I don't think the period for clearing waivers is over yet, and we can always sign him off their PS anyway. As for QB, we seem to have a thing for raiding the Packers practice squad (Brian Brohm, Jamon Meredith), and guess who they just waived??? Graham Harrell "More than any other skill position player, Harrell has made the biggest improvement in camp. He began the summer playing tentatively, opting for the check-down pass or short throw whenever possible. But over the past couple of weeks, Harrell has exhibited a confidence that has transformed his play. He’s just as likely to throw down the field as he is to dump it off. With his improved confidence, he has shown off arm strength that wasn’t evident when the Packers first signed him during the organized team activities." (And, of course, we all know that Harrell blew up every NCAA passing record at Texas Tech - link - certainly rather have GH lining up over center this Sunday than any of our current QBs.) Don't see any outstanding OL castoffs still available - Jean-Gilles re-signed with the Eagles, Adam Terry is now a SD Charger, but I am a sucker for great stories and absolutely LOVE this one... Link - Cal's Mike Tepper has quite a story "There are more coveted offensive tackles in this NFL draft class, but none with a more compelling story than California's Mike Tepper. The offensive tackle had his leg torn up when he was run over by a car, but he bounced back with Bears and figure to be a mid- to late-round NFL draft pick." Link - Cal athlete run over by men annoying a female friend Good size at 6'7", 319 lbs. Versatile as well - started 13 games at LT in senior year, 13 at RT prior season, has size and skill set to also play guard. Love to see guys with that kind of courage, character, and resolve in Buffalo Bills blue! Tepper - player bio Tepper - scout report
