Bills "off the scneid" predictions
The Senator replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why not? I know NE*, at 1-1 in the division and with their head-to-head loss to New Jersey, will be cheering us on... GO BILLSSS!!! 16 and 3, it'll be!!!!! -

I am suspicious of open roster spot
The Senator replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That makes the most sense. I was wondering whom they'd cut when Nelson comes back - never guessed it'd be Edwards. (Of course, if God's in his Heaven and all's right with the world, we could make room for Nelson by cutting Cornell Green.) -
Chances are pretty good we'd pass more and punt less. Don' know if it would have helped us against NE* or not, but we'd probably have gone for it on 4th down a few more times too... “If a guy has four downs and will only use 3 of them he must be the kind of man that will only eat two meals when he is offered three. Makes no damn sense to me at all.” - Mike Leach

Thanks! (Hooked 'em on my friend's boat off Newburyport last Thursday)

Well that would be a couple rungs down from TTU - but actually, he didn't - not even close... Mike Leach is not a candidate to be the football coach New Mexico or in discussions with any other schools, his lawyer told collegefootballtalk.com. "There is zero truth to these reports. None. You can quote me on that," Ted Liggett said. "There have been no discussions with anyone [regarding potential future openings] as far as I know. And I would know." Laywer for Mike Leach says coach is not a candidate for New Mexico job Don't know why you think I'd rejoice, though - I really enjoy hearing him every day on XM radio and watching/listening to him on TV doing the games on CBS College Sports with Roger Twibell. Good one! Very Funny! (But come on now , it could also have been about Trent Edwards being benched. ) You got that right, dog! And now that there's an open QB spot on the Bills roster... Unfortunately, Leach will likely end up as HC of an NCAA FBS team next season - or, if he does come to the NFL, the Raiders or Tampa Bay (the whole 'pirate thing'). Sorry I missed this thread - was in NE* for the Bills game, and think I was out catching food for the tailgate party when this all started...

They Weren't Laughing This Past Sunday...

Personally, I think the Bills should be focused on 3.5 years from now. -
Bills Defensive Adjustments vs Patriots
The Senator replied to Haplo848's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The lack of adjustments could have something to do with the Patriettes* proclivity for cheating - as I mentioned in a prior thread... There is absolute no depth to which Belicheat* will not lower himself to gain an advantage. On my flight to Boston this week I was told by a New Englander* that BB* actually contributed to the design of Gillette Stadium by insisting that the visitor's locker room be positioned/configured such to require a lengthy, circuitous, out-of-the-way walk (approx. 6 minutes - 12 round trip - unless they run, while the Cheatriettes* merely walk thru a portal directly behind their* bench), which gives the visiting team about 3 minutes or so for half-time strategical game-plan adjustments. It sounded so bizarre that I had to see it to believe it - sure enough, at half time of Sunday's game, NE* exited the field via a special staircase directly behind their* bench and passed thru a door directly to their* locker room; the Bills had cross the field diagonally to the far corner, pass thru the entire length of the tunnel, then continue down a circuitous corridor before finally reaching the visitors locker room. Again, if the trip takes 5-6 minute each way, the round trip would leave the visiting team about 3-5 minutes for any and all half-time activity, strategy, and adjustments. Freakin' Belicheat*. -
I think you may be trying to be too logical, Logical - first, I think the players can pretty much figure out the 'what & why' behind Edwards' release; second, the players have don't have the level of sensitivity or need for nurturing that you imply; third, once Edwards was benched it was almost impossible to keep him on the roster - how do you have one of your 'offensive captains' sitting on the bench because he refuses to throw the ball downfield when it's required to do so in order to give his teammates a chance to win?

Trent Edwards to have a new team by 4pm tomorrow
The Senator replied to RayFinkle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't put it past Rex Ryan to sign Edwards for a week, then release him after Sunday's game - Ryan did a similar thing with Kevin O'Connell the week before the Jets faced NE* last season... Last year, the New York Jets signed Patriots washout Kevin O'Connell just days after the 2008 third-rounder was released by New England. The Jets' primary aim wasn't hard to figure out - pump the former quarterback for information about the Pats' offense. And his role was vital enough for the Jets to actually make him a captain for their game against the Pats on September 20, 2009. Jets may have upper hand over Patriots because of backup Kevin O'Connell The Jets are a possibility for a one-week gig, only because we play them this Sunday. My guess is Trent ends up on 'Team Dakota'. -
You don't see much of anything that's happening off the field on your television. Don't know what you saw on TV, but I was 11 rows behind the Bills bench on the 45 yard line - Edwards was involved from the beginning to the end and was very visible the entire game, working with the o-line players and coaches on the bench and talking to Fitz between drives. (And I'm anything BUT an Edwards fan.)

My Hunch- Trent Outta Here Today
The Senator replied to BuffaloATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clearly, 'nevergiveup' & 'BuffaloATL' have either better sources or better intuition than me - I was off by over 3 weeks when I said Trent would return to Synopsys as a marketing intern before the season opener. -
The Jimmy Clausen era in Carolina
The Senator replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Negative - Brian Brohm will will have a far better career than Jimmy Clausen ever will, and Ryan Fitzpatrick already has. -
You'll notice that Chan made a similar move with CJ Spiller, yanking him from the starting role because he's just not ready yet. I do like that about Gailey - he'll make adjustments, both during the game and between games (unlike Jauron). Fitz has one year left on his contract at $2.8M, so I still think we'll get a good look at Brian Brohm before the season's to far gone, but I think we learned yesterday that, with Fitz, the Bills are capable of playing some exciting football and are unlikely to finish 0-16, 2-14, or even 4-10 - we're gonna win some games before long... GO BILLSSS!!!! 16 and 3, it might be!!!!!
-
$1.65M is the number, but it's a moot point - he's a FA after this season and will be out of football. Gailey's finally realized what some of us have been saying for 3 years... A week after benching him. Edwards' value is at an all-time low, so the Bills would be lucky to get a future seventh-round pick. Edwards could perhaps settle in as a long-term backup, but he's not solving any quarterback controversies. He's one of the least aggressive passers in the league, and has been injured in some form or fashion every year since his senior season in high school. link

My pleasure - I am led to think the part about the visitors' bench is actually true, and will be watching very closely at halftime tomorrow! Marcia* seems to think she'll* have an easier time now that Aaron Schobel's retired... “I’m glad he’s gone,” Brady* said. “He kept me* up a lot of nights before the games. He was a dominant player for them. I’m* glad he’s retired.” link As I recall, Kelsay also put Brady* on her* ass* with great ease and frequency as well - I expect to see a very angry Marcia* post-game presser! GO BILLSSS!!!!

There's already an asterisk next to their* first Superbowl win. What did they* do, you ask? Seriously??? In case you forgot, or just didn't know... Report: Source claims Patriots* taped Rams before Super Bowl There is absolute no depth to which Belicheat* will not lower himself to gain an advantage. I'm also told that, after the cheating scandal became public, Bob Kraft* actually launched a network of Low Earth Orbit satellites that Belicheat* uses to gather surveillance video on all NFL teams from the secret mountain fortress that Kraft* has hidden deep in the New Hampshire's White Mountains... Bill Belicheat's Secret Mountain Hideaway ...and, when confronted with those rumors, Belicheat* responded matter-of-factly, "There's nothing in the NFL rule book about Low Earth Orbit satellites." Now, why don't the Bills cheat, you ask? Well, first, because it's just wrong. Second, because if Chan actually requested a similar setup from Ralph, RW would probably attempt to piece together a network of broken or unused transponders on aging C-band satellites and a recon facility in the Orchard Park woods something like this... Chan's Surveillance Shack We don't need to cheat to beat NE* this Sunday... BuffTown Billsss 20 NE Cheatriettes* - 3 GO BILLSSS!!!! 17 and 2 maybe!!!!!

Wow! Can't wait to get rid of Leach, eh? (Off to Beantown this afternoon, Gillette Stadium* on Sunday - if you're ears start ringing on Saturday, don't worry - it's just me & Schuh )

BIG FITZPATRICK FAN HERE
The Senator replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He didn't ask about Dr. Trooth... -
Well, Trent does suck, but I've been thinking about a change myself - I know the 'Leach thing' has gotten old, but this one doesn't fit the size limit...
