Pray Andrew Luck declares for the draft
The Senator replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And you're basing that opinion on what? His one year of experience in the PAC 10??? Or what the announcers said tonite when they gushed over him? (Brett Musberger is a guy who prances around in women's underwear, so don't listen to anything he says - he gushes over a lot of guys.) How many games have you seen Luck play? (I know it's not more than 3 or 4). What was he feeling that can't be taught when he threw that INT on first and goal with 3 minutes left, down by 14 and trying to tie the game? He'd be eaten alive in the NFL next season, if he ever got on the field. -

Well, now you saw it. A 52-31 blowout, after being up 28-3. Zero points in the second half. Looks like Luck shot his load in the first half, and choked at clutch time in his first big game this season. Stay in school Andy - finish your degree and get another year of playing experience. A Stanford degree is invaluable, and the NFL will be here after you graduate. (Kid's 21 years old, in his sophomore season, ferchrissakes - he's got no business playing in the NFL next season.) -

Just FYI, BeerSphere - this is how it reads on the small window on TSW Forums home page... Recent Topics Added Johnson fined $10K for celebration by Beerball (link) I'd avoid him for a while, if I was you. -

And yet you went on to waste just a bit more time posting additional nonsense that is 100% irrelevant to Brian Brohm. I, too, have a game to go to - the big Canisius-St. Joe's smackdown - so I'll just call you an idiot now and be done with it. -

Whatever, dude. Still on the hooch from last nite, or just starting your morning 'bracer'? -
What's your point? Technically, the United States has not filed a declaration of war against any nation since 1942. So I guess Korea wasn't a war either, nor Vietnam. This, my friend, looks like war to me...

It's academic to us, yes, but I'm pretty sure Brohm's not 'an unknown quantity' to Nix and Gailey - Brian Brohm is here, and Trent Edwards is gone. Hopefully, when we're up around 35-3 against the Jets tomorrow, there'll be some time to get a look at Brohm. -

Myself thinks yourself is probably right. But myself is also curious whether yourself has any preference or inclination about this year's 'top dogs' thus far? -

Even if Brohm is great, it's a tough call to pass on a 6'6" 240 lb. '...gigantic, outsized savant-Sasquatch of a quarterback with an arm capable of passing exceeding the word passing. Ballistics might be a better term, particularly when he begins lobbing balls down the test range a piece.' (link - THE PUNISHER STANDS ALONE) And if the size of Mallett's contract gives Ralph angina, trading Mallett would probably get the Bills about a half-dozen future draft picks. (But if Buddy Nix says Mallett's the guy - the legitimate QB of the future, the 'Second Coming' of Jim Kelly - Ralph will open his checkbook.) -

For the life of me, just can't figure out how anyone gets up in the morning and doesn't say to themselves, "It's a GREAT day to be alive - let's do something remarkable today!" Oh yes...the coffee's brewin' right now, and today I'm gonna learn something I didn't know, meet someone interesting, fix something that needs fixing, help someone that needs help, and CHS will beat St. Joe's! And tomorrow... BuffTown Bills 44 New Jersey Jets 3 GO BILLSSS!!!! 16 and 3, it'll be!!!!! -

Well we all have our opinions. I guess my crystal ball isn't as clear as some others, what with 13 games to be played and the Bills tied with 4 teams, within 1 win of 9 others, w/in 2 wins of still 15 more, and only 3 games back of the league's last 3 undefeated teams. Some people 'throw in the towel' a lot sooner than others, I guess. -

OK 1) I already answered that - they kept 6 RBs on the active roster that season, just 2 QBs, and tried to hide Brohm on the PS. 2) See #1. And by offering to match Buffalo's deal, GB offered him a place on their active roster. What does it mean that 30 teams didn't claim him? I can't answer that. Maybe they forgot about him while he was 3rd on Green Bay's active roster depth chart all of 2008. Kind of like that other really sucky QB (Colt McCoy) that's 3rd on Cleveland's depth chart in his rookie season. But Buddy's the guy to ask, not me. Buddy's the guy that signed him, cut Gibran to make room for him, and kept him around this year over Trent Edwards. Not my fault if you can't 'connect the dots', my perception-challenged friend. I'm basing my statement that Nix was calling the shots based on 1) His prior role in San Diego before he rejoined the Bills in Jan 09 - Nix's job with the Chargers was to oversee both pro and college scouting and to be one of the main decision makers in each NFL Draft. Nix was a major reason the Chargers turned around from a losing football team to a rebuilt, winning team. In 2004, three players Nix drafted were selected to the 2005 Pro Bowl. In 2005, six players Nix drafted were selected to the 2006 Pro Bowl. In 2006, eleven players Nix drafted were selected to the 2007 Pro Bowl. In 2007, eight players Nix drafted were selected to the 2008 Pro Bowl. The Chargers won four out of the last five AFC West titles with Nix as Assistant GM and Director of Player Personnel, in charge of college scouting and instrumental to the decision making process of their NFL drafts. (from Wiki) In other words, Nix was VERY familiar with Brohm from both the 2007 draft - which Brohm almost declared for when it was speculated he might be the #1 overall pick - and the 2008 draft in which Green Bay selected him 56th overall in the second round. 2) Brohm was signed by the Bills on Nov 19, 2009... Quarterback Brian Brohm rejected an offer to stay in Green Bay in order to pursue a fresh start in Buffalo with a team that's suddenly losing confidence in Trent Edwards. The Bills plucked Brohm off the Packers' practice squad on Thursday, signing the 2008 second-round draft pick to a two-year contract. In agreeing to play for the Bills, Brohm said he turned down a last-minute bid by the Packers to keep him. "The last 24 hours have been good to me. I went from being on the practice squad to having pretty much two offers," he said after his first practice with the Bills. "I just wanted a fresh start, a new start, and I think Buffalo gives me that." (link - Tim Graham) Now I know you won't remember or connect any of this, but there was a whole lot of crap going on at OBD that week. Jauron was fired two days earlier, Perry Fewell was named interim coach, Gibran Hamdan was cut to make room for Brohm, and Trent Edwards was benched in favor of Fitzpatrick - of whom Fewell said, "He gives us a better chance to win.". 3) Less than 2 months later (Jan 3, 2010), Buddy Nix was named GM. One of his very first executive decisions? Firing John Guy (Jan 20 - coincidentally 2 months to the day after Brohm was signed, Hamdan was cut, and Edwards was benched). So if you think Guy was not already on the way out in November and someone else was already calling the shots - after Guy led the Bills along a 10-year playoff drought, and after Ralph was so fed up he actually fired Jauron during the season after giving him a huge contract extension only months earlier, and after a huge shakeup at the QB position where Edwards was benched and Hamdan was cut (both signed during Guy's tenure) to make room for the newly signed Brian Brohm - well hey, pass that pipe this way. And if you want to think that, when Guy was on the way out, marketing wiz and parking revenue enhancer Russ Brandon was calling the shots on player personnel decisions while the Bills already had Buddy Nix on board - who was regional scout for the Bills from 1993-2000 under John Butler, and who was assistant GM and Director of Player Personnel under AJ Smith with the Chargers (go back and re-read his duties and accomplishments above), then I'll also have some of that hooch you're drinkin'! Now, what's the next red herring? What other nonsense are you going to come up with, trying to justify your curious disdain for Brian Brohm? You're really making progressively less sense with every post. -

Hundreds? Try thousands! But a guy that was a Heisman candidate and at one point a projected #1 overall pick by at least one scouting combine? If he sucks so bad, why did Green Bay re-sign him to their practice squad after he cleared waivers? (They likely would have kept him on the active roster, but opted to keep 6 RBs for some odd reason) Why did they try to keep him by matching the Bills offer? What has Buddy seen? I don't know - I don't have 1/1 millionth the football knowledge that Nix has. Nix was the Bills National Scout in 2009 - I wasn't - so you'll have to ask Buddy why, of all the QBs he could have gone after, he chose Brohm. While your at it, ask him why Brohm's still here - now at #2 on the depth chart and moving up - and Trent Edwards is gone. -

A 'bunch of games'? How 'bout just more than one? Yeah, there's a reason Brohm's gone this long without playing - his name is Aaron Rogers, who had been groomed to replace Brett Favre since the Packers drafted him in the first round with the 24th overall pick just 3 years before they drafted Brohm! But hey - Kurt Warner must have sucked, because he was cut by the Packers. Steve Young must have really sucked, because look how many years he sat on the bench behind Joe Montana. And this Colt McCoy kid...well, he must really, really suck, even though he's never started a game, because he's 3rd on Cleveland's depth chart. I ask you, of all the QBs out there in late 2009 - either veterans that were free agents looking for a team, or young ones on the practice squads of all the teams in the NFL - why do you suppose Buddy Nix went after Brian Brohm? -
I guess Chan Gailey is the kind of guy that only eats two meals a day. I was there - feeling the adrenaline and thinking the Bills might actually beat the Patriots* at Gillette! We were moving the ball pretty well and I wanted the Bills to go for it on that 4th down, too. There's really not much difference whether you lose 38-30 or 38-27, but you've got to put your team in a position to win, and if you know ahead of time that you're going on 4th down with 28 seconds left in the half, it may alter your strategy on 3rd down as well. “If a guy has four downs and will only use three of them, he must be the kind of man that will only eat two meals when he is offered three. Makes no damn sense to me at all.” - Mike Leach

I understand that, Bill - in fact, where don't the Bills have issues? JMO, but I honestly believe the franchise if moving in the right direction and that it's also not outrageous to think we'll finish 8-8 either. Maybe better, now that we have a QB that will at least try to throw downfield if we're behind with a minute left. -

G2, if I could do that after week 3, I'd be smarter than all the GMs on TSW (and I'd head straight to Vegas). My crystal ball's still a little cloudy, but besides the Bills there are 4 other 0-3 teams, 9 1-2 teams, 15 2-1 teams, 3 3-0 teams, and 13 more games to play. What's your point?
