Where's the Bills bar in Boston?
The Senator replied to 12 15 11 7 10 11 7 5 14's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Used to be at 'The Fours' on Causeway Street across from The Boston Gahh-den, then moved to 'The Harp' - which is great - but, as Cash posted, the newest Bills Backers venue is literally right inside Fenway's 'Green Monster'... Bleacher Bar Bills Backers Totally cool, unique experience - with the overhead door open, you look right inside the ballpark from the warning track in left field. I make it a point to stop in any time I'm in Boston. Just found out on my last trip (the Bills/NE* game) that it's now also a Bills Backers Bar! -

And look how well that worked - Lions were 2-14 in 2009, and sit tied with the Bills at 0-4 in 2010. You're just one brilliant dude. What's your next idea to flip the Bills fortunes - new logo and uniforms, like the Lions? Thanks for playing - run along now. -
Going 0-16 is the Best Case Scenario
The Senator replied to ohiotim's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm learning all the time - tonite, from one of our newer posters, I learned that 'going 0-16 is the best case scenario'. Heretofore, I would have thought that going 19 and 0 is the best case scenario. Guess that's why I keep coming back to this board! -
Well wouldn't it just be a 'wicked pissah' - as they say in Cheatriettes* Land - if that actually happened and, as a result, NE* ended up with the better draft position and Ryan Mallett

Is it Time to Root for 0-16 Yet?
The Senator replied to NaPolian8693's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand the frustration, but how can any Buffalo fan watch a Bills game and root for them to lose? OK, maybe if we're already 0-15 - and need to lose to win the 'Ryan Mallett Pool' - but until then... GO BILLSSS!!!! 15 and 4 - we'll lose no more!!!!! -
Are there any franchise QB's next year?
The Senator replied to Gotta Dream's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is an automated response - please change your title to more clearly reflect the subject matter... I'm starting this new thread to rehash all the '2011 QB draft-prospects' threads that have been beaten into the ground in the last week and finally drifted off the first page -
Thank you for that, my oenology-obsessed friend! GO BILLSSS!!!! 16 and 4 - we'll lose no more!!!!!

I take it you're not one of the ones Thurman has 'converted' -
Have to agree with you, Dan - every year, I start out with unbridled optimism...and every year, this team slowly sucks the marrow from my bones! I was - and remain - suspect about Chan Gailey. I wanted to give him every benefit of the doubt, but that incident with Trent Edwards and yelling at a bunch of kids the last day of training camp was really wierd, IMO. We all knew what it apparently took Chan a bit longer to figure out - that Edwards sucked - and Gailey had yet to win a regular season game as a Bills coach, yet he's 'calling out' the fans? I was thinking to myself, 'What's this guy gonna do when the real fans... the big boys...really get down on him and the team?' (I mean the grown ups who pay thousands of $$$ for season tix and travel from far and wide to witness this mess.) I actually traveled to the NE game and came back still optimistic - despite the loss and the 0-3 start, we had finally dumped Edwards, and the offense moved the chains and put points on the board. Then came the Jets debacle - after that, I need another marrow transplant. I may not even see the J-ville game - am considering not going and wasting what looks to be a beautiful Fall Sunday (and we'll be informed after 1:00 PM today that the game is officially 'blacked out' locally). Still have hopes for Gailey, and do believe in Nix and his abilities as a GM, scout, and player personnel guy - just hope they don't burn half of next season figuring out what they should have learned in OTAs, training camp, and the preseason. And how 'bout doing something about the DC and this great 3-4 defense, instead of singling out the offense for all the cuts, trades, adjustments, etc.? We had Dick LeBeau, we had Perry Fewell...now George Edwards??? Afraid to fire a coach in mid-season, Chan? That's right, Chan...I'm doggin' you... Oh well... GO BILLSSS!!!!

You, sir, are the one who is wrong. Lynch signed a 6-year rookie deal thru 2012 and would have been a F/A in 2013 - the 2012 year was the 'voidable year' based on not missing substantial playing time in the 1st two years. Assuming he would avail himself the option of voiding the final year, he would have been a F/A in 2012, but he was most definitely iron-clad, locked-up thru the 2011 season at the paltry sum of $1.14M. Incontrovertible statement of fact. (EDIT: It's actually a bit confusing - Lynch's deal was a 5-year deal, with a 6th 'voidable' year (2012) if he missed a substantial portion of his first 2 seasons - when you read something that says the last year of his contract was 'voidable', it refers to that conditional 6th year - here's a link to the contract the Seahawks assumed - Lynch) Also not sure where you come up with 'we got a 3rd and a conditional 6th' - you seem to have this 'n-minus-1' issue with numbers. We got a 4th round pick, and a conditional 'latter-round' pick, believed by most to be a 7th rounder (not a 6th)... Marshawn Lynch traded to Seahawks -

Er...um...in Peter's 3rd year (2006), he won the starting job as RT. He was cut in his first year (2004), then re-signed to the practice squad in November - he was first elected to the Pro Bowl in his fourth year (2007). As Marv Levy would say, "Look it up, Thurman!" You're right (for once) - there IS no comparison - Bell never even played organized football until his sophomore year in college! :w00t: All TSW posters who have been swayed (or "said they were swayed") by Thurman #1's man-love for Jason Peters, please fall in and sound off... And your 'friend from Pittsburgh' works for the Steelers in what capacity? (Or is he really just an amorphous amalgamation of several blogs you quickly googled and excerpted?) Bills Weren’t Only Team That Wanted Kraig Urbik (I'll post the rest of them if you want, just in case you forgot to bookmark them.) Thurman, you're a legend in your own mind - I'll say that for ya. (I was expecting Mickey and PdaDDY to rush to Fat Boy's defense too, but apparently they're not slow learners.) -

Well first, for the zillionth time, Lynch was NOT IN A CONTRACT YEAR!!!! Second, due respect, but it's NOT THE EXACT SAME THING - the Cheatriettes* traded and aging prima donna who was making outrageous demands and becoming a cancer... Bill knew bomb was ticking Sources: Moss, coach in exchange Ego brought Randy Moss down ...and received a 3rd round pick for a guy who has been an a-hole on every team he's been with (Vikings/Raiders/NE), and who'll be out of football in 2 years. The Bills, OTOH, traded a young 24 y.o. up-and-comer Pro Bowl RB that they drafted in the first round with the #12 overall pick just 3 years ago and who will likely be a dominating RB for years to come in Seattle, and received in return a 4th round pick in 2011 (think Marcus Easley) and a 7th round pick in 2012 (think Kyle Calloway). -

Uhm - no - Moss wasn't traded because the Patriots decided he could no longer play or didn't belong in their lineup (which was my point, if you go back and re-read). He was also not traded because the Patriots decided he did not 'fit their program', as you say. Moss was traded because he demanded to be traded, demanded a new contract, and demanded more passes be thrown his way. The Patriots actually would have preferred to keep him (they're not very deep at WR, and have no one as good as Moss)... Had Moss been patient, or at the very least silent on the subject of his contract desires, this day might have been avoided. The Patriots didn't start out trying to unload him. When it became apparent their petulant receiver was focused on one thing, and one thing only -- show me the money! -- they figured they'd deal him now rather than watch him walk with no compensation at the end of the season. link Remorse. (At the very least, some.) Anyway, that's only one move, and not based on faulty or incomplete evaluation in OTAs, camp, and preseason - unless the Partiots made a bunch of other moves after the season began, that I'm unware of??? -

Crazy talk, mostly. Wood was drafted to be a center - he'll be one of the best, for a long long time, once he's eventually shifted there and reunited with Brian Brohm. Bell is much further along, at this point in his career, as a LT than Jason Peters was at the same point in his own career - and right now may even be better than Peters is today... Jason Peters Explains After Game That “Ain’t Nobody Perfect” Eagles left tackle Jason Peters had a difficult game against the Washington Redskins, but he went into defense mode after the game when he was questioned by sports anchor/reporter Jamie Apody of Channel Six. Peters has struggled all season with holding and motion penalties, but he may have taken things to another level against the Redskins. The guy has become a “walking and talking” momentum killer. -

I'm not sure what you're referencing - have the Patriots* made a bunch of moves/cuts/trades/benchings that I'm unaware of? -

Nix mentioned at that now-infamous Monday Morning QB meeting/lunch that Urbik played a bunch of games as an OT... OL Urbik settling in Though he is listed as the backup to right guard Eric Wood, Urbik, who played a full season of right tackle in college, stayed on the practice field a few minutes late Wednesday working on snaps at center. Wiki describes him as an American football offensive guard/tackle for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at Wisconsin. As we know, Wisconsin is known to produce a decent offensive lineman from time to time. Now we need to focus on getting Gabe Carimi next April. -

Ah...so you're saying the Bills need 5 or 6 regular season games to figure out who are their best players, while the rest of the NFL figures that out before the season opener. Thanks for clearing that up. So after this Sunday, hopefully Chan/Buddy will finally know who should be starting, who should be benched, and who should be released of traded. Can we wipe the slate clean and re-start the season at 0-0 after the bye week? (And regarding Trent Edwards, Gailey/Nix should have figured out from tape of previous seasons that Edwards didn't have the mentality or physical tools be be a starting NFL QB, and should have been working Brohm with the starting offensive unit throughout training camp and in every preseason game.) I hate to think how many regular season games we'll have to burn finalizing our roster when the NFL goes to 18 regular and only 2 preseason games. -

Makes sense to move Wood to center - that's his natural postition, and he'll soon be snapping to Brohm again anyway... After redshirting his initial year at Louisville, Wood started all 12 games at center for the Cardinals in 2005. He earned Freshman All-American honors by Rivals.com, Sporting News and College Football News. Also an excellent student, earned Academic All-Big East accolades as well. Wood remained Louisville's starting center in his sophomore and junior seasons, starting all 13 and 12 games, respectively. Led by quarterback Brian Brohm, the 2007 Cardinals offense ranked sixth nationally with an average of 488.0 yards per game. Wood earned All-Big East honors in both years, and again in his senior season. He finished his career with 49 consecutive starts at center, the second-longest streak in school history behind Travis Leffew (51, 2002-05). Alongside Alex Mack, Wood was considered one of the best centers available in the 2009 NFL Draft. He has been compared to Brad Meester by The Sporting News, but his instincts and "nastiness" on the field had scouts comparing him to the NFL's old time centers like Mike Webster of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tim Grunhard of the Kansas City Chiefs.
