The Worst Decade of Drafting In NFL History?
The Senator replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
WHINE ON, HARVEST MOON!!!!! Then - when you're all done whining - explain how that helps or changes anything, speaking of 'moronic' What's done is done. Jauron's gone, we have a new coach, a new mind-set, a new GM with a history of successful drafts. If all you can do is whine, please go get yourself a big tall glass of STFU. -
Jason Peters turning into Mike Williams ?
The Senator replied to CSBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was Wood, whom I believe will become an All-Pro center once he fully recovers from that massive leg-fracture and is eventually moved to his natural position... After redshirting his initial year at Louisville, Wood started all 12 games at center for the Cardinals in 2005. He earned Freshman All-American honors by Rivals.com, Sporting News and College Football News. Also an excellent student, earned Academic All-Big East accolades as well. Wood remained Louisville's starting center in his sophomore and junior seasons, starting all 13 and 12 games, respectively. Led by quarterback Brian Brohm, the 2007 Cardinals offense ranked sixth nationally with an average of 488.0 yards per game. Wood earned All-Big East honors in both years, and again in his senior season. He finished his career with 49 consecutive starts at center, the second-longest streak in school history behind Travis Leffew (51, 2002-05). Alongside Alex Mack, Wood was considered one of the best centers available in the 2009 NFL Draft. He has been compared to Brad Meester by The Sporting News, but his instincts and "nastiness" on the field had scouts comparing him to the NFL's old time centers like Mike Webster of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tim Grunhard of the Kansas City Chiefs. (from Wiki) ...and the fourth rounder was TE Shawn Nelson, whom I also believe will soon be a very valuable contributor now that we have a HC/OC that knows what a Tight End is! (please, no 'tight-end' jokes) Not a bad trade - a fat lazy overpaid 'future Mike Williams' for two great players with long careers ahead. GO BILLSSS!!!! -
He was never on our list. fixed I thought he was talking about the Stanford-Oregon game earlier this season.

Seriously. Kind of the 'Jerry Glanville' of his day - only with a suit & tie, instead of a black cowboy hat. Well, seeing as the Bills scored 41 of those points in the first half, maybe they just wanted to keep Norwood's leg warmed-up for the Superbowl (Or, maybe it had something to do with Levy's first NFL HC job being Stram's immediate successor at KC. It also could have been that the Raiders were talkin' trash about the Bills all season long, or at least after the Bills beat them 38-24 in week 5 that season, but especially in the week leading up to the AFC title game.) -
Mallett completed 27/44 - 411 yards - 3 TDs - 0 INTs

From what I've read, Locker stayed at Washington because he had the scoop that no one was taking him in round one last April - so I'm not sure how much $$$$ he may have left on the table by going from a 2nd-round pick last in the last draft to a 3rd-round pick this April. No matter - I couldn't care less about the guy's bank account, I'm just glad I don't have to read all the posts from the guys who were drooling over him then switching sides in a nanosecond, and saying 'worst draft pick ever'! If the Bills need to draft a QB early, Mallett's the guy.
-
Locker is a 3rd-round guy at draft time - maybe 4th.

It is a useful tool, but I wish I didn't have to use it. A about a year ago, or so, I finally got fed up and put a couple of idiots on my 'Ignored Users' list - not because personal attacks bother me (they don't) but because their opinions and comments were either so negative, cynical, and/or ignorant that I just didn't even want to see them. The recent influx of new troll-like TSW members, with nothing positive or constructive to bring to the forum, has expanded my 'ignore' list to over a dozen (and growing daily) useless posters. 'Help Scott Take Out the Trash!' GO BILLSSS!!!! 14 and 6 baby!!!!

I should have been more precise and said, "And if the Bills had won that New Year's Day game at War Memorial Stadium on Jefferson Ave. at Best Street, they'd have gone on to play in the very first Superbowl ever two weeks later against Vince Lombardi's Green Bay Packers and eventual Superbowl One MVP Bart Starr!!!" Of course we all know that, had the Bills beaten Kansas City on New Year's Day in 1967, the eventual Superbowl One MVP would have been Jack Kemp! As for tomorrow - I think you're off by a few points, DIE HARD... Buffalo Bills 46 Kansas City Chiefs 13 GO BILLSSS!!!! 14 and 6 baby!!!!! -

Chan & Fitz - please do DIE HARD 1967 and the rest of us a 'huge solid' and run up the score on those ing Chiefs... GO BILLSSS!!!! 14 and 6 baby!!!!! -
Sadly, RDB, the answer is 'none' - that's why I say (insert name) makes no difference Obviously, the way our D is playing, the Bills need a QB capable of putting 40 or 50 points on the board!!! (Graham Harrell? ) (BTW, I am NOT - by any stretch of the imagination - blaming the losses on Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is playing great.)
-
I guess I was the first to respond to the idiot, and probably should have reported what I thought was really an a-hole post, but somehow don't feel it's my place to police the board. And now, of course, I'm sorry I didn't report it. I guess if we want TSW to retain the high quality it's always been known for, we kind of have to 'self-police' the place from time-to-time - or at least institute a 'Neighborhood Watch'. To paraphrase the Paladino campaign, 'Help Scott Take Out the Trash!'

Prediction: Chiefs 27 - 13 Offensive Enthusiasm Ends
The Senator replied to box0life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, what do you think will happen? What will happen is, beginning immediately after the game - maybe even during - and continuing right up until the next kickoff, all of the "The sky is falling....the sky is falling!!!!" 'Chicken Littles' will plaster TSW with posts stating how they told everyone that Fitz was nothing more than a career backup, adequate 'in a pinch' but certainly not a 'franchise QB'. All the posters who, this week, stated unequivocally that QB and O-line are no longer the Bills #1 needs, will instantly 'do a 180' and renew their incessant calls that the Bills use their very high 1st-round pick to draft a certain Stanford QB who will not even be in the April draft, or a certain Washington QB who sucks out loud and will be available in the 3rd round. A-holes like 'Mr. Wonderful' will attack good, decent, long-time members. Valued contributors like DIEHARD 1967 will grow disgusted and go away. Such is the nature of TSW these days, it seems. -
Glad he's back - he's always had good contributions to the discussion. Actually, he's been back for quite a while. Did you only just notice today, or just choose today to remark on it?
-
You may be right (though I doubt it) - Clausen was supposed to be 'the most NFL-ready' QB in years, according to draft pundits & TSW armchair GMs, and look where that went! But differing opinions are great, as is the time to discover which opinion was correct. I'll stand by my choice of Mallett. Not sure what you're saying - Fitz had great stats - the Bills still lost. Where's the difference?
-
I'm sure there are a few that remember that 'The Brentwood Butcher' was initially credited with 198 yards in the final game of his 2000+ yard season (1973) - afterwards it was changed to 200 yards, giving him a total of 2003 yards on the season.(instead of 2001). Not really sure why they did that (or where they saw the extra 2 yards), other than maybe to also give Simpson three 200-yard games that year.

Now that's a government handout even I would support! -
I'm with you, Bill - nothing wrong with having a 'pair of Ryans'! If the Bills are drafting that high, it means Fitz didn't make much difference, and we take 1) Ryan Mallet 2) Gabe Carimi 3) Dontay Mach 4a) Greg Romeus 4b) Owen Marecic 5) Best Available 6) Best Available 7) Best Available Even if Fitzpatrick has a great year, Mallett is that rare talent that we'll have the luxury to groom while Fitz starts. (Remember how many years Steve Young sat on the 49ers' bench, and Fitz - much as I love the guy - is no Joe Montana!)

McDermott on thin ice in Philly?
The Senator replied to Lintyfresh85's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's truly amazing the number of folks that think Wade Phillips would ever consider working for Ralph Wilson again, considering that - after firing Wade - Ralph tried to stiff Phillips on the remaining salary he was due, resulting in that nasty lawsuit (which Phillips ultimately won). And all that after Wade spent $10K on one of those plastic 'Herd About Buffalo' statues at a charity auction, then presented it as a gift to RW!!! -
