  1. And I will personally guarantee that - while he won't be "a Buffalo Bills by April" because he'll be staying at Stanford his senior year (and junior season of football) - he will at least make it across the San Mateo bridge to Hayward and be AT... Buffalo Bill's ... by April, having recently celebrated his 21st birthday and now able to legally enjoy a beer in California. Anyone who thinks this youngster is 'NFL-ready' and won't get killed in the big leagues if he comes out next year is living in a fantasy world. Fortunately, Luck knows this because he's smarter than his fan-club, and will stay in school to get his degree - along with another year of experience and maturity. (I will also personally guarantee there will be at least 6 new "Andrew Luck" threads in the next 24 hours. )
  2. Yeah, and that's actually got me a little nervous - particularly if JJ also has a very vocal group of supposedly enlightened fans informing him how much better off the Cowboys would be to lose the remainder of their games.
  3. His post, besides being downright painful to read, offered little to support to his original point (see his earlier post) that the Bills are better off losing the rest of their games, or at least enough to ensure a high draft pick. His post was, in fact, moronic, as is anyone who thinks otherwise.
  4. To me, Wade always seemed a way-better defensive coordinator than head coach. JMO. Oh, and did I mention that he has a lovely daughter... Tracy
  5. Respectfully disagree - in mid-season 1986 Marv Levy took over a team that had consecutive 2-14 seasons in '84 & '85 - two seasons later the Bills finished 12-4, won the AFC East, and went on to the AFC title game against the Bengals. I believe it can - and will - happen again. Regarding the ownership, also respectfully disagree. Any other owner and this team would have been GONE from Western New York DECADES ago, so be very careful what you wish for. And as for my 'haranguing' any and all fans who profess a preference for losing games, well, I'm gonna keep doing that... GO BILLSSS!!!! 8 and 8, baby!!!!!
  6. I don't think you need to worry - Nix & Co. will not screw up the draft, but we could still lose the Ryan Mallett prize (Luck's staying in school) to any # of teams - Carolina, SF, Dallas, even NE* (via the Raiders pick)!
  7. You're right - my bad - I guess, in their case, the third time (Leaf/Brees/Rivers) really was the charm!
  8. Why do you waste all this time compiling this crap??? 1) No one reads it, and 2) I already have Google.
  9. I attended the last mass at St. Gerard's on New Year's Day, 2008 - quite a tearful thing to 'de-consecrate' and close such a beautiful old church - Fr. Mazur, a fairly burly, tough-looking man, was in tears, and I admit that my own eyes also 'welled-up' several times... St. Gerard's Parish - Bailey Ave - Lost January 1, 2008 I have mixed feelings about the whole deconstruction/relocation thing. I hate to see Buffalo lose such a magnificent architectural masterpiece, and it'd be fairly typical - in Buffalo - for the Diocese, a few years from now, to say, "Hey, the neighborhood is turning around and experiencing a renaissance - we need to build a new church there!" Still, I'm mindful of what abandonment followed by years of neglect and desecration did to the East Side's beautiful Transfiguration Church MarkyMann is right - Buffalo's old East Side is littered with these decaying, once architectural-gems. And, as part of his parish downsizing scheme - 'Journey in Faith and Grace' (aka 'Journey of Deceit and Disgrace') - Buffalo's buffoon-Bishop, Eddy Kmiec, closed a slew of these magnificent structures without ever even once setting foot on the properties or considering their history or their fate, once closed. So, if shipping St. Gerard's - stone-by-stone - to Norcross, GA for the benefit of parishioners there will prevent the mindless destruction of this once-magnificent house of worship, so be it.
  10. I'm not saying he sucks either - just being a little sarcastic at what you must surely recognize as a constant TSW fickleness regarding the latest 'greatest' QB prospect (after prospect, after prospect...) I'd be ecstatic with Mallett, and hope Luck stays at Stanford (and expect he will) so we don't even have to make a choice between the two. GO BILLSSS!!!! It's gonna be 'heaven' in 2011!!!!!
  11. Oh he sucks. We should definitely lose out all next season so we can draft Oregon's Darron Thomas - he's the real deal!
  12. You're right - they should wait - they should only draft a 'potential franchise QB' every three years...like the Chargers!
  13. Boy that Mike Williams sure was a 'difference-maker'. Try telling the professional athletes on the Bills roster and their coaches that they shouldn';t mind losing, but rather should want to lose because they'll get a better draft pick. The draft is what it is - we'll get a good players in every round if our F.O. staff do their jobs well. Only misguided idiots want their team to lose on Sundays. GO BILLSSS!!!! 8 and 8, baby!!!!!
  14. At this point, don't do anything. Fitz is 'the heart of the team' - albeit an 0-8 team - that first win has been tantalizingly close for weeks, and Fitz should be in there when it finally comes. As for B2 - plenty of football to play this season. You never ever know what's going to happen with (God-forbid) injuries, or anything else - he'll get a chance to show his stuff before season's end. If he's a huge pleasant surprise, he's an RFA after the season and not likely to get any offers we can't match.
  15. Oh the irony - 'JR' celebrating a Dallas loss! I'll give an AMEN, Jay - and a Hallelujah!!! - but the Andy Luck Fan Club is gettin' nervous with the Cowbays at 1-7
  16. Bu..but...but Carolina already has the 'greatest, most NFL-ready QB to ever come out of the draft' - last season's draft-darling and TSW's former-favorite QB-du-jour... Jimmy 'The Emu' Clausen
  17. I keep trying - so far to no avail - to tell the Luck-lovers that they've got it skewed - they seem to want the Bills to continue losing every game this season so we can draft Andrew Luck. The problem is, Andy's staying at Stanford next year. Luck-lovers, what the Bills REALLY need to do is not only continue to lose every game this season (just to protect our draft interests on the extreme long shot that Luck comes out this year), but also lose every game next season - when Luck does finally graduate and enter the draft. That way, we'll have the first pick and our choice of Andy Luck OR - even better yet - Darron Thomas, who will make Luck-lovers forget all about Andy and throw him on the giant scrap-pile of TSW QBs-du-jour!
  18. You're absolutely correct. I misspoke, my apologies. I meant to say that RW donates more as a percentage of income - not net worth. My bad. Still think he's got most people on TSW - and certainly Billsfreak, the original poster/Wilson-basher - beat in that regard.
  19. Because it's not a liquid asset that he can 'divvy up' without selling it or borrowing against it, knucklehead! The Buffalo Bills NFL franchise is Ralph Wilson's primary business - how many people sell their business, and their source of income and livelihood - just so they can donate 15% of the sale price to their church? A more accurate measurement - and more rational question - would be, 'How much as a % of INCOME does RW donate?" - but I think you're beyond rational thought on this issue. I gave you a partial list of beneficiaries of Ralph's largess - if you want actual $$$ amounts donated, go do your own homework, lazy ass.
  20. Not to take anything away from anyone's generosity or charitableness, but I sincerely doubt that. Tell me - other than the Bills NFL franchise, which is not a liquid asset and can only be turned into $$$cash$$$ by selling or borrowing against it - how much do you think RW is worth? (He's worth a lot, I know, but probably way less than you and others surmise or speculate.)
  21. "99%???" :w00t: "OBVIOUS TRUTH?????" :w00t: :w00t: Show me your data, please. (Perhaps you're in agreement with the other 99% of WGR listeners, but most Bills fans are much smarter than you.) "Money hungry old coot?" Well, who doesn't like money - or want more of it - but, again, you disply nothing but ignorance with that and your other statements. Wilson gives back plenty - and, as a % of his net-worth, plenty more than you... Ralph Wilson Medical Research Foundation - Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Wayne State University, Miami Project to Cure Paralysis/University of Miami (go tell Nick Buoniconti or Kevin Everett what a miserly old coot Ralph Wilson is - but wear a face guard when you do) Mary and Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Counseling Center - hospice care, family grief-counseling, child palliative-care Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education - St. John Fisher College Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Jefferson Scholarship - University of Virginia (let me know if you'd like a longer list)
  22. The Bills will be playing the majority (minimally 7) of their home games in WNY long after Rogers Stadium and the Rogers Communications empire lies in crumbled ruins. Ralph Wilson assured that when he firmly staked out Toronto and Southern Ontario as a market owned by the Buffalo franchise. Ridiculously short-sighted, and exceeded in total ignorance only by WEO's post - but his ignorance is usually hard to beat, do don't get too down on yourself! Did Ralph profit from the Toronto deal? Of course he did. He also profited tremendously from $25,000 he invested in a little something called the American Football League and the Buffalo Bills, way back in 1959. Did that bring any benefit to Buffalo, or was that also just something to line Ralph's pockets? Here's a little scoop for you - businessmen have a right to profit from their investments. What would YOU do if some idiot from Toronto came to you and said, "Here's $80 million - why don't you agree to play regular-season 5 games up here - one each season - for the next five years?" The pure Ralph Wilson genius of it all is that, by making Toronto a 'second home field' for the Bills, Toronto is now effectively established as the Bills home turf and anyone who would even think about trying to establish a rival NFL franchise there would have to deal with the Bills, and likely be faced with a prohibitive annuity/perpetuity for infringing on the Bills' market. (Think Baltimore Colts paying Washington Redskins $150K back in 1950, and imagine the value of that money today, along with the magnitude of value explosion that the NFL has experienced since 60 years ago, then try to come up with an appropriate dollar-amount based on today's value - it would be astronomical!) Ralph Wilson's ownership has been great for Buffalo, despite some rough losing cycles that every team goes through on a regular basis. You and others can continue to ignorantly opine otherwise but - believe me - were it not for Ralph, this team would have been gone from Western New York DECADES ago!!!
  23. Da Billsss-43 Da Bearsss---0 13 and 7, maybe!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! PosLUSZny!!!!!
  24. Don't worry about Luck - 1) He's staying at Stanford; 2) Ryan Mallett is the guy Nix wants anyway. I have a feeling you're right about the beard, though... Billsss-43 Bearsss---0 GO BILLSSS!!!! PosLUSZny!!!!!
