(LAMP) Looks like I'm moving to DC
The Senator replied to WVUFootball29's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm more of a 'city rat' and definitely prefer being in DC-proper (I lived at 1028 29th Street and 3549 S Street back in the Reagan era). Rents have more than quadrupled since then, and your desired rent eliminates Georgetown from the equation. For safety reasons, I'd agree with the poster who suggested that you'd want to confine any city-search to NW - have you considered/investigated the American University area (Upper NW-AU/Tenleytown Metro Station)? Map If you have to (or prefer to) live in 'the 'burbs', I like VA much better than MD (lived briefly in both). Ned's suggestion of Arlington is a good one - it's a really beautiful area. Alexandria is also nice. -
So, would you trade the #1 overall pick next year for Vick?
The Senator replied to Heitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're kidding, right? You mentioned Michael Vick's name, and you really didn't expect that? -
What makes Buffalo appealing to Luck
The Senator replied to DC Grid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Substitute Mallett's name for Luck's, throw in the fact that Brohm and Wood also played for Petrino, and there are some great and very valid points made in this thread... GO BILLSSS!!!! -
So we know there are a couple of former players who occasionally look at TSW - if there truly are any current players that 'come to The Wall', what do you suppose they think when they see such stupidity about wanting to lose the rest of the season? Can't really tell if he' serious, sarcastic, making a poor attempt at humor, a troll, or just an idiotic current member using a different name to stir up some sh-- (that's my suspicion), but he's the first person to make my ignore list on the basis of one post!

Positional Needs for November Needed
The Senator replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am still trying to figure out how to run a simulation with Luck completely off the board until 2012, when he'll become available - any 'how to' tips would be truly appreciated. -
Wrong again! (Don't you ever tire of shooting yourself in the foot?) Quite the opposite of ' changing my tune ', I am a model of consistency when it comes to Luck. I have never once questioned his skills as a QB - never. You can waste an evening - or a month - trying to find a post where I did, but I assure you it will be a waste of your time. Nor will you find any ' hate ' - because I have none. (I actually like the kid a lot - just obviously not as much as you do, nor as much as I like Mallett). What I have consistently maintained is that - being a red-shirt sophomore - Luck is extremely inexperienced, that Buddy Nix has clearly stated that his preference is for QBs with 30-35 starts and LOTS of BIG game experience, that no one has seen enough of Luck in his one and a half seasons in the PAC 10 to be heaping the ridiculous amount of worship he's getting (which, BTW, I'm pretty sure also makes Luck himself quite uncomfortable), and - finally - that all you guys in the Luck-Lovers Legion are wasting you're love on a guy who's going to finish his Stanford degree before entering the NFL draft in April 2012. So instead of calling me a " hater " - just call me ' Mister, er, make that Senator Consistency '.
-
Are you truly stupid? Where do you see - or have you ever seen - any hatred? I don't hate Luck at all - quite the contrary. I think he's a fine young man, a gifted QB, and a brilliant student - who may very well turn into a great NFL QB some day. What I do truly hate is all the crusade-like, non-stop fawning over this boy who will not enter the NFL draft until a year from April. You're a perfect 'case-in-point' - if I don't LOVE Andy, if I'm not just drooling all over myself at the prospect of him in a Bills uniform, then I must hate him! Why don't you just move to Palo Alto and camp out on his doorstep?
-
You're right - that is way too long. If you don't mind, I'll just wait for The Big Cat's exegesis vindicating St. Cam of any wrongdoing.

It all sounds eerily familiar to last year's Clausen-speak. Actually, the most telling quote you cited (partially) was... Of course, part of the big-picture allure of Andrew Luck is that he’s the guy Harbaugh calls “the anti-celebrity quarterback.” He’s patient, he’s thoughtful, and he’s not in this just for the fame and sudden cash. He may very will be a successful QB in the NFL some day - maybe even one of the better ones - after he finishes his Stanford degree and gets drafted in 2012.

What makes Buffalo appealing to Luck
The Senator replied to DC Grid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
someone's been drinkin' the koolaid -
I thought it was one of the sillier ones... "just watch him and you'll see...his coach is a former QB...he has all the 'intanglibles'...he's been playing a pro-style offense...if you don't love him like I do then you're a moron...blah...blah...blah ad nauseum..." How 'bout some new insight - something the entire universe doesn't already know? (Just watch the board turn on the poor young kid after Cal kicks Stanford's butt this weekend.)
-
What there is to be 'sceptical' [sic] about is who the moron is here - congratulations on making my ignore list faster than anyone.

Wood is 3rd ranked run-blocker in NFL
The Senator replied to Damian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stange - I distinctly remember being roasted by the Jason Peters Fan Club when I stated that we got a future All-Pro in return for an aging malcontent. -
No 'sour grapes' here - I've been extremely skeptical of Stanford's young sophomore 'Savior' since September.
-
Congratulations!!!! Yours is the first of today's 20 new Andrew Luck threads! (Just be careful - you do not seem to be buying in to the "Luck is God" mentality, and anti-Andy-adoration threads are frowned upon by members of the TSW's growing Luck-Lovers Legion!)

We used to joke - morbidly - for years, 'Lenny Bias is still killing the Celtics!' As you know, he was to be 'the franchise' after Bird, and Red's last great stroke of genius - as defending NBA champs, trading Gerald Henderson to Seattle for their draft pick that became the lottery pick that landed Bias. Reggie Lewis' tragic and untimely death also set the team back years. I always thought Bird would end up running the show after he finished up as coach and GM in Indiana - never would have guessed Ainge would be the guy to rebuild the Celtics back to 'NBA powerhouse' status. BTW - Lew Alcindor was on 'Celebrity Jeopardy' a while back, got a question 'served up just for him' about one of his own lines from the movie Airplane, and got the answer wrong! link
-
Quite the opposite, my friend - you can't seem (or you simply refuse) to see or grasp the point that folks had 4 full seasons to judge whether or not to draft Harrell, as opposed to a season and a half to judge Luck. Way to stick your foot in your mouth. BTW, I'd still think I might rather have Harrell than #24-ranked Mark Sanchez and his 80.5 QB rating - we're still gonna see great things from Harrell, eventually. (Or do you think Green Bay's coaches don't know how to judge QB talent?)
-
Hmmm...this is really strange...I don't recall seeing Mallett's (or Leach's) name anywhere in my post... Only 1,000 times??? Funny, in the surely over 1000 Luck-loving threads, I think I've heard how God-like he is from you clowns over 1,000,000 times!!!! (And it's getting really, really old.) Works both ways, Punchie - now go catch your school bus.
-
Wait a minute...I thought the Bills would lose until we draft a 'franchise QB'? God, this place is confusing!
-
Wow...act like a 2-year-old much??? My lover-boy Graham Harrell??? Sounds like maybe I insulted your dream-boat, no? BTW - Harrell played a full 4 seasons, after his red-shirt season. You can go right ahead and say how much you really like him as a QB prospect after ONE game, if you like - so long as no one lets you anywhere near the Bills War Room on draft day (BTW - Andy - 5086 yards, 35 TDs : Harrell - 15,793 yards, 134 TDs) Harrell Luck

You are bringing back great memories - I used to see 'The Chief' occasionally at some high-end 'Euro' club (can't think of the name of it to save my life) in the Sheraton-Copley Place - here's my all-time favorite Parrish moment... DJ was one of the nicest guys - very sad to see him pass. (BTW - I used to see Ewing hanging out at the video parlor on M Street when he was at Georgetown...God, I'm old! )

Good stuff. I wonder how Clifford Stoll feels about his banal, incredibly short-sighted musings regarding the Internet, now that U.S. News & World Report Ceases Printing - to Become Online Only and now that the very magazine in which his article appeared is also ' no more ' ? Tina Brown Got Married! Can News-Beast Pay for the Honeymoon?

See it's the hysterically funny 'Luck-love' posts like this one that just get me rolling on the floor Dude - guy's played college ball for a season and a half. I don't care if you've watched every single game he's played in the last season and a half - neither you nor anyone else has watched 'a whole lot of Luck' because there hasn't been 'a whole lot of Luck' for anyone to have watched :wallbash: Even if someone had seen every single one of his H.S games (now that would be really weird), no one has seen enough of this kid - in the one full season of college football he's played in his career so far - to warrant the unmitigated, almost sick desire to draft a player the extent of whose talent (and faults) is truly unknown at this point.

Official "Dinner's On Me, Smartass" Update Thread
The Senator replied to IDBillzFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That never ceases to amaze me (and amuse me) either. (And I hope you know I was just kidding about the 2nd-half stuff - I was out after week one!) That said, before the Bills or anyone else drafts, holds OTAs and camp, plays their preseason games, and finalizes their rosters, let mejust go ahead and make my next-season prediction of how we're gonna do right here and now... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! PosLUSZny!!!!!
