HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 printer jam - any ideas?
The Senator replied to bbb's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Aggravation is costly, and printers are cheap - throw it out and buy a new one. -
I Don't Blame Fitz At All For Yesterday
The Senator replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe if - early on, for depth - they had loaded the practice squad with o-line guys (as I opined early-on when there were still some good ones to be had), Fitz would not have suffered yesterday's onslaught. Draft Gabe Carimi. Please. (And take Wisconsin TE Lance Kendricks too, while you're at it - Kendricks, Carimi named AFCA All-Americans) -
That saddens my day - I liked him so much. Meredith was an American original in the MNF early days, and other networks seemed to scramble to find a color-guy of their own just like him. A fairly good depiction of what Meredith, Landry, and the Cowboys must have been like back in those days is the movie North Dallas Forty Part drama, comedy, and satire, North Dallas Forty is widely considered a classic sports film, giving insights into the lives of professional athletes. Based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Peter Gent, a Cowboys wide receiver in the late 1960s, the film's characters closely resemble real-life team members of that era, with Seth Maxwell often compared to quarterback Don Meredith, B.A. Strother to Tom Landry, and Elliott to Gent. Of the story, Meredith said, "If I'd known Gent was as good as he says he was, I would have thrown to him more." (from Wiki) I know he ' lived hard ' but 72 still seems so young these days. RIP, Don Meredith. .

Yes, there is a typical, predictable, weekly TSW cycle predicated on the outcome of our most recent game - and it goes something like this... Mon. How great we played - or - How bad we suck Tue. This team is really so close to 'turning the corner' - or - This team is years away from contending for anything Wed. Demetrius Bell-Kyle Williams-etc. are huge surprises this season - or - Maybin-McCargo-etc. were wasted draft picks Thu. Last Sunday wasn't Fitz's fault and he's still our QB of the future - or - Fitz sucks and OMFG I want Andy Luck SOOOO BAD Fri. Time to put last week behind us - or - [insert any of various a-hole troll's threads about how we suck here] Sat. I predict a Bills blowout - or - [insert any of various a-hole trolls' threads about how we're gonna get killed here] Sun. Official [insert today's opponent here] Game Day Thread And so it goes... (Apologies to Vonnegut.) .

Now can we all agree that Fitz is not the guy.
The Senator replied to Austin_Bills_Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds like you're having an argument with yourself. (Good a reason as any to start a thread, I guess.) . -
Maggie O'Connell - definitely! Janine at 48? Yeah, sure, OK.

It may be nothing - just the newness of the site, or strength of the security certificate - but, until I stop seeing a ' suspicious site ' warning from Checkpoint with admonition to 'leave this site immediately', I won't be stopping there again.

Did anyone just see that BOMB from Cam Newton?
The Senator replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's quite a bizarre, unfounded, and ridiculous, assertion (IMO) - since the Bills are the first professional football team in the modern are to have had a black starting QB (1969 8th-round draft pick James Harris). Bills fans care about winning. Period. . -
Did anyone just see that BOMB from Cam Newton?
The Senator replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have to have Cam Newton! If the Bills F.O. doesn't immediately issue an edict to lose every remaining game and ensure that we will be in a position to use our 1st-round pick on soon-to-be Superbowl MVP and HOF QB Cam Newton, I'm turning in my fan card. After that pass, who can deny that Cam Newton is better than Sid Luckman, Sammy Baugh, Otto Graham, Bart Starr, Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath, Joe Montana, and Jim Kelly - all combined!!!! -
Put up or shut up for Maybin
The Senator replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was an academic junior, but actually a red-shirt sophomore, football-wise - just like Andy Luck. -
Put up or shut up for Maybin
The Senator replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh I definitely agree, but you're talkin' 'bout a ' one-year wonder ' that missed 4 weeks of training camp and 3 preseason games - a bum that held out longer than any draftee other than Michael Crabtree, I believe. So what's to make you think he's humbled by any of this? Quite! -
Pat Williams, 3 year $13 million deal
The Senator replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And I'm still pissed-off about the Chandler trade, too! (May he RIP) -
Put up or shut up for Maybin
The Senator replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely correct. Maybin signed a 5-year $17M deal in 2009 with $15M guaranteed, and becomes a FA in 2015 - so don't expect a decent year 'til 2012 or 2013, when he'll want to renegotiate. -
Is that true??? (!!!!) You mean Johann Pachelbel, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Franz Liszt, Carl Orff, etc., etc., aren't actually part of the band? (NEWS FLASH: everything they do is a cheap rip-off of popular works from the classical and/or traditional repertoire - none of those TSO clowns have ever had an original musical thought in their lives.)

Pat Williams, 3 year $13 million deal
The Senator replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still can't get past the CookieGilchrist trade. Never got over it. -
That's a great one!
-
Williams? There's another one bilking the ignorant masses with his eratz ' serious art-music ' - everything he...um...composes ( ) sounds exactly the same. And as far as the Boston Pops, well, Williams is no Arthur Fiedler! Regarding TSO - with all the hair-shaking and pyrotechnics, I'd certainly be afraid of a Michael Jackson-type Pepsi moment. (TBD needs a good ' hair-on-fire ' emoticon!)
-
TSO? Seriously? And heretofore I thought Yanni found an easy way to earn a living. .

What did you do when Stevie dropped the TD?

Carolina Panthers to Take Luck?
The Senator replied to saundena's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Au contraire, mon frère. Quite unlike the TSW ' Oh-my-God-I-want-Andrew-Luck-so-bad ' crowd, I don't think I've ever started a thread stating how badly I want the Bills to draft Ryan Mallett, or how we absolutely MUST have him, or how we should lose every game just to ensure we're in the position to draft him . Certainly, I've made my preference for Mallett over Luck loud and clear, have expressed great bemusement at the Joy Luck Club, and - until the recent emergence of Ryan Fitzpatick as a bona fide starter (and a darn good one, at that) - have also advocated using a first-round pick on Mallett. But to compare any of that to TSW's screaming-teenage-girl-hysteria for Andy-Boy is ludicrous. I've actually been suggesting since September 12th that we draft Wisconsin OT Gabe Carimi in round one - and, if we did actually draft Mallett, trading back into round one to draft Carimi too. (One of the reasons is that Luck will be at Stanford for another year. And, as I've also stated in several threads dating back several months, Ryan Mallett may well stay at Arkansas for his senior year.) -
Did you know Cam Newton was ineligible
The Senator replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it would hurt the ratings for the SEC title game, but probably not the BCS title game. (So yeah, you're probably right, the NCAA probably doesn't care at all if I watch Oregon/Oregon State this Saturday instead of Auburn/South Carolina - but I do think TV ratings for the SEC game would be lower w;out Newton playing.) -
Carolina Panthers to Take Luck?
The Senator replied to saundena's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It seems a lot of guys on TSW would like to grab him -
Did you know Cam Newton was ineligible
The Senator replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? 'Cause if Newton's not playing in the SEC title game, I'm more inclined to watch the Oregon v. Oregon State game on at the same time. But that's just me. Interesting scenario if Newton were NOT to play, would be Auburn losing to #19 South Carolina and getting knocked out of the BCS title bowl. Then, TCU would play Oregon in the BCS title game; Stanford - or maybe Auburn - would play Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl; Arkansas - or maybe Auburn - would go to the Sugar Bowl; Nebraska wou... ...never mind. You can see my point - NCAA wants two undefeated teams, i.e., Oregon v. Auburn/Newton, playing for the BCS title. .
